View 3 RepliesIn the attached report, safety factor is se to calculate from ultimate tensile stress (485 MPa), and it indicates 1.33 with stresses:
Von-Mises: 323 MPa..............SF = 1.5
1st principal: 303 MPa.............SF = 1.6
2nd principal: -181.2 MPa....... SF =2.67
So, how is inventor getting 1.33 ?
EDIT: if I set it to calculate from yield ( 260 MPa) it accurately reports SF = 260/323=0.8
EDIT: added part file
I'm trying to create a report on a stress analysis I've made. Reading the report I don't find any result on safetyfactor. When I was browsing the forum I found a thread concerning safety factor and a report file attached. My report is missing some of the information that I found in this attached report (such as "result summary".
View 2 Replies View RelatedThe company I work for manufactures safety covers of all types. Some are pretty easy to model. The ones made from folded fabric,....not so much.
I have taken a couple of photos and uploaded them so that you could see what I'm trying to model.
As you can see from the photo, it's an accordion like cover that is "U-Shaped". You would install this over a linear rail and have one end anchored to the frame and one end anchored to the carriage. So it would collapse and expand as the carriage moves back and forth.
We call the convolutions "vees" (obviously because they look like the letter V). When you compress the cover the Vee Depth increases. And when you expand the cover it will decrease. The folded section at the ends, at the small "legs" is where I have the difficulty. It's sort of hard to explain. That's why I uploaded the photos.
I'd like to be able to make a single "Vee", and have it have adjustable constraints so that I can expand or contract the cover by adjusting one number.
we have just upgraded from Inv 2011 to 2013. I am trying to create the drawing templates in 2013 by using the blank 2013 template and then copying our border from 2011 onto it. This works a treat apart from 1 thing.
The i properties do not get copied over as well so the sheet is blank from drawing number, title and the custom properties etc.

View 2 Replies View RelatedDuring the process of creating my FIRE image, I saved the Liquify distortion (.msh file) to my computer. I've now gone back to the directory to use it. It's clearly listed there (Fire3-Liquify.msh), but when I click on it, Photoshop refused to open it saying:
"Photoshop could not open this document because it is not the right kind of document."
When I try to open it directly from within Photoshop by opening the directory in question, it does not even show it, not even if I set the Types of File to ALL FILES.
What gives? What am I doing wrong? I thought the distortion mesh file was supposed to allow me to reconstruct my Fire image and start from that advanced step instead of starting from the beginning.

View 2 Replies View RelatedTo make this you will need a very basic understanding of the workings of GIMP, as well as have GAP.Download GAP here. This has been made after many tweaks and changes from this tutorial, anything related to that tutorial on this tutorial I give him credit for (This includes the main method of fire creation and the colors) I also give much credit to ccbarr for finding a way to keep an even and never skipping fire :)
First create a new 500x100 transparent image. Then set the foreground color to #ff8400 (orange) and the background color to #000000 (black). Then select the gradient tool on "The GIMP" window, use the gradient 'FG to BG (RBG)' and make a gradient from the very bottom to the very top of the Background layer.
Now, make a new window (File -> New). Use the parameters 500x200.Go to Filters -> Render -> Clouds -> Solid Noise and use the following settings on the Layer you just created.
Now Create another Layer just like the last one, but this time named "Upper Flame".Do another Solid Noise, Filters -> Render -> Clouds -> Solid Noise, using the following Settings.
think it makes it look better. Select the upper flame layer and go to Layer -> Colors -> Colorize and click on the 'Hue' bar, and send it about halfway between the middle and the right side, to give the fire a redder look. For the reddest effect push that bar all the way to the right
Am trying to make a fire effect in Corel x6 using vectors ...i can draw them ok but the need to be smoothed/blended together to look good ..i have tried using the blend tool & it's ok ...& the new smear tool doesn't blend as such ..the smudge tool appears almost pointless ..so.is there a way to blend the colours together?
