I have an assembly which includes lot of parts (*.ipt) or sub-assembly (*.iam). I have some ilogic rules to control to suppress or un suppress them.
Now for the released assembly, I want delete all suppressed components by ilogic rule.
I have an assembly which has a few components suppressed.
My end results is another copy of the assembly (with copies of the all the parts) in another directory
Now i am able to create copies of un-suppressed parts using; (this allows me to SaveAs assembly components which are not suppressed)
DocumentsEnumerator = ThisDoc.Document.AllReferencedDocuments
And save a copy of the assembly using
ThisDoc.Document.SaveAs
I also added the fllowing snippet (which I am not sure what is does), but it does not work for me
Component.SkipDocumentSave = true
When I open the newly created assembly, I still see the suppressed components in the model browser
I want to either;
Skip saving the of the components in the model browser (i.e. the Assembly)
OR
Delete the suppressed parts in the Assembly, so that they do not save altogether
How to modify the code below to delete suppressed parts in a pattern (entire pattern)?

Code works fine if there are single instances of the part. It throws a error when you have a suppressed pattern.
I'm using iLogic to build a configurator and everything is working perfectly if I have all the componets available.
However, is there a way to use iLogic in this example:
Assume I have a bolt, nut and washer in an assembly based on 1/2" sizes. I then change the sizes to 1", the bolt and nut update to 1" but I do not have a washer modeled for 1". Is there a way to use iLogic to report that the washer is not available without causing an error or only updating the bolt and nut and ignoring the washer.
i have an iLogic rule in serveral files. Now this rule has to be deleted. This should be done with VBA. I can not find any function to delete a rule using VBA.
I found a function iLogicAuto.RunRuleDirect(rule), but not iLogicAuto.DeleteRule(rule) ...

I made an Part with iLogic rules, let's call it "iLogicPart". The rules inside could create lot of different part by my input.
I want save the different parts to different name as "Part 1", "Part 2", etc. I used SaveAs to get them.
My question is: I want to delete all rules and parameters in the saved parts as "Part 1", "Part 2". And I have lot of features (the name is hard to track) which are inactive, I want to delete them at same time too.
I could manually do so, but I want to use rule to do so automatically.
we are using level of details to suppress few components. when we are trying to take BOM for that level of details. we are getting the suppressed components also. is there any control we can do avoiding that suppressed component. I know if you make the BOM sequesnce to reference that wont come in BOM. but we need that file for other LOD.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI need a way to run a rule which is saved in my top-level assembly using iLogic rule which is saved in a part file in the parent assembly.
I have even tried using an external rule in a txt file, but that gives the error "Component: This function can only be used in an assembly." - which makes no sense to me. I hope I am just missing something simple. I cant believe with all its other strengths, that iLogic would be so limited in that regard. Why is there not simply a snippet under the 'Run Other' that allows you to specify an assembly file and the rule name? (like there is for running a rule in a component from the assembly)
I want to simply set a custom iproperty as the Description in each part file within my assembly. I can do this easily at part level with ilogic but I want to be able to run the rule from the assembly level and all the parts run the rule. I am struggling to find a way to do this.
I think this may be the best method I have found but I think it must be far easier?

I am working for customer with a simple item with his iLogic design. He has created a simple form to modify his iProperties. To modify the current material, a multi-value parameter was created and the following rule as a local rule;
"MultiValue.List("MATLIST") = iProperties.Materials
iProperties.Material = MATLIST"
He is now trying to make this an external rule but gets the following error
Error in rule: Mat2, in document: Mat2.iLogicVb
iProperties.Material: is probably a bad material name.

I started with a huge ipart table which was created by a collegue who has now left. The factory was unmanageable as it had reached the maximum amount of columns and was running very slowly.
To combat this, I decided to split the table in half so that the ipart will become two iparts. I am now working on the first half...
A lot of features are unque to one or a few parts, so doing this enabled me to delete columns if all values in the columns matched after the table was halved.
I thought this would speed up the file but I have now realised I have a bunch of features sat in the browser than are suppressed in every member!
Is there any way to use ilogic or vba to run a script that will delete a feature if it is suppressed in every member?

I have a iLogic assembly with some parts and sub assembly. I need to do a copy of this " Generator " to apply the result later in other assemblies. (something like a member of a ipart or i assembly).
Is there any way to do the copy the assembly to a new folder without the suppressed parts and subassemblies (wich are suppressed in the initial main assembly by iLogic rules)?
I tried to use "Pack and go" and "iLogic design copy", but they always bring the suppressed parts and assembly's, to the new folder and which i don't need to apply in the other assemblies.
Is there a way to work with parameters on a suppressed assembly using iLogic.Everything works fine, but when I suppressed a part ilogic rule give me an error: Parameter: The component named "xxxxx:1" was not found.

I was hoping I could create a rule that would prompt a dialogue box warning when the user creates a custom value for plate thickness.

In iLogic Utilities, there is a button "Rules Triggered by Events", If I use "Any Model Parameter Change", the update need long time, looks like Inventor is "No Response". I like the way "Material Change", but I need "part Number" change to trigger the rules. How can I do it? I tried other events as After Open, Before Save, etc, they are does not work.

I'm new to inventor and I need to be able to create coppies of a part in my assembly that are uniquely identified so they can be individually changed. I see that this can be done through the ribbon with the "Place iLogic Component" button, but is it possible to do this from the API in a rule?

I would like to make an External Rule that would make an iLogic Internal Rule (with the same code every time). I guess what I really need is a way to drive an Ilogic rule into every part that does not have the rule in the part already.
I know what you’re thinking and just using the External Rule doesn’t work for what I want to do. I need it to be an iLogic Internal Rule.
I have an iLogic rule that I want to add to several files that are already existing. Is there an "easy" way to do this other than opening each and every file, creating a new rule, pasting in the code and then saving the file? Is there a way to set the colour of a part using the RGB value? (or perhaps the hexdecimal value?)I know I can set colours in iLogic by specifying an existing colour (ex... iProperties.PartColor = "Green")
I want to avoid adding the colour to Inventor as a custom colour, then referencing it in iLogic... The goal is, if a user specifies the finish on this part to be this colour, it will always be that RGB value (our standard in-house paint colour). I don't want to add it to the Inventor 'colors' design data... when we upgrade to the next version of Inventor, it's one more item we have to remember to carry over!.
I got this error popping up every time I open an iLogic edit rule and all my snippets are gone. Now it has started doing it on a different computer in our office. The error dialog box is in the image below. T
