Apr 3, 2012how I can export an assembly parts list to a text file that can be opened by notepad?
I want to do this from the IAM file, rather than from an IDW file.

Feb 4, 2013We have an issue regarding Parts Lists. We currently produce a 'master parts list drawing' for the jobs we produce. This drawing has 2 rolled up parts list on it -
1 - purchased parts - so buying can order all the required parts in one go.
2 - manufactured parts - so production know which and how many parts to make.
Both of these can be setup in Inventor (using filters) so they display only the correct parts from the BOM. However, neither of these show assembly / subassembly files (and consequently drawings). Is there any way of creating a parts list that can show assembly files only?

Jul 25, 2012At my workplace it has been standard practice in Autocad to call out bolt assemblies in a parts list as: 1/2-13 unc hex hd. bolt w/flat washer & nut. How to do this in Inventor? I know I can enter this info on the assembly iProps for the bolt assembly, I was hoping someone came up with an automated format, maybe pulling info from the bolt itself to populate the assembly iProps?

AutoCAD Inventor :: Update Quantities In Parts List Based On Parameter In Assembly?
Apr 12, 2012Inventor 2012.how would I input the total quantity of doors in the .iam in order to update the Parts List quantity column? I have a lot of user inputs in the .iam file set up to change width, height, etc that are based off of Parameters in the .iam, but I don't know how the user can enter assembly quantities in order to get the Parts List to update the Quantity column correctly?
I have attempted using custom iProperties but how to get it to display based off a user input Parameter.

Nov 27, 2012I have created an assembly that has a parts list, and in this parts list I have up to 100 mono detail drawings. I would like to know if there is a way to print all of these drawing from that list in a massive plot.
At my previous company we had something like this in AutoCAD where a script was created to look at the drawings and print all drawings mentioned in the assembly BOM and subsequent sub-assemblies, it worked beautifully.
I find that I have to print all drawings to paper or PDF individually.

Dec 5, 2011We would like to be able to export parts lists from our drawings into Excel, so we can build a master item list on a project to get purchasing information on long lead purchased items early in the design phase.
We are thinking of exporting the part list to an Excel file named the same as the drawing file each time the drawing is checked in to the vault. We will have another VBA routine that does some sorting and other magical things to build the master list in Excel.

Nov 19, 2011I'm using Autodesk Inventor 2012 SP1 64 Bit on a Windows 7 machine without vault.
I seem to be missing something. I cannot get the parts list in assembly drawing to fill the part number column. See the image below.
The BOM has the part number field filled out as shown below. Is there someway that I need to map the iProperty to the part number column in parts list?

May 3, 2013Inventor Professional 2012.like many companies we export our parts lists (in our case, .csv) for our MRP system. I borrowed and modified Curtis' ilogic code that I found in previous posts on these forums to fit our needs. The only thing I'm getting hung up on is the sheet in which the parts list is found.
Right now the code is pointing only to sheet 1 to find the parts list. Unfortunately some of our assembly drawings have many sheets and the parts list can be on any of them. So whenever I run the rule in a drawing that doesn't have the parts list on sheet 1 I get an error. Is there some way for Inventor to search all the sheets? or at the least search on the active sheet?

Jul 8, 2012I was wondering if there is a way to export or save an assembly drawing to .dwg format (that can be opened by cad or acad mechanical) in such a way that all the parts of the assembly are exported as individual blocks (within the same file) To explain- lets say I have a .i am out of which I create a drawing (.dwg for inventor). Then I export or save this as acad dwg. This acad dwg should have all parts of the assemblies as blocks so that if I want to work on a particular part in the 2d environment of acad, that is possible.

Jun 10, 2012I had resized the File>Open dialog in Inventor. I had resized it so that it was quite large so I realized pretty quickly when I opened another file, that the window size had rest to its original size.
What I found was that if I export a parts list to excel, then go to File>Open, for some reason the size of my file>open dialog is cleared.

Nov 24, 2011I have been unable to rotate the header text in a parts list. I created a new text style that is rotated 90 deg, a new part list style that specifies to use that text style in the header. Everything else about the text in the header displays correctly (i.e. font, size, colour, etc) but not the rotation when I insert the parts list in a drawing using the correct standard. When I apply this same standard to a regular text line on the drawing it will rotate the 90 degs but not in the part list.

Oct 23, 2012I am trying to align text in a row of my parts list vertically, but I can't seem to find an option to accomplish this. Please see the row for item #5 in the attached jpeg. The default behavior seems to be top justification.
I have found the ability to change left/center/right horizontal alignment in the 'format column' dialogue, but nothing for the vertical alignment. I have also tried changing the settings within the 'styles editor' by going to the parts list style I am using, then the text style that is specified for the data, and changing the justification for that text style to middle justification (see 2nd attachment), but it does not seem to effect the text within my parts list as I had desired.

Feb 27, 2013When I create a assembly , no problem , If I modify any parts in the assembly , the mods do not translate to the part file Inventor asks if I want to save the changes but nothing happens , everything is in the correct project folder , I have tried everything I can think of .

Oct 19, 2012I have an assembly file I made in Inventor 2011 that I published to DWF. When I view it in Design Review 2013 not all the parts are visible. If I zoom in on the area that they are suppose to be, they magically appear, but can't get a good view of the whole assembly that way. This trick doesn't work for all missing parts. I have tried to hide/unhide the missing parts, but that does nothing.

Feb 14, 2012In the parent assembly a text iproperty exists called "child list". I would like to set this value via an ilogic rule that does the following:
For each child in the assembly where paremeter "include" = true, add the value of iproperty "filename" to a comma delimited list that will become the value of text Iproperty "child list" in the parent assembly.
The result should look something Like iproperty"child" = "filename1,filename2,filename3,filename4, etc..."
The rule must iterrogate all children, both parts and assemblies, and must go beyond 1st level children.
The output does not have to be comma delimited but must be delimited with something (eg tab, :, etc..)
The number of children is unknown

Mar 30, 2012On the main sheet of my drawing I have the overall Parts List. Shows almost all parts except for the few that we don't want to list. On the second sheet I inserted a Parts List to show only parts that are shown in a detail on that page, made the rest non-visible.
On the main sheet there is an item (#13) that has a QTY of 3. Two of those Three are optional parts. What I'm trying to do is insert a custom part into the Parts List, give it an item number of 13A and put in the description "OPTIONAL", then do an Override in the balloon to show 13A.
I get it in the Parts List, Apply it, close it, save the drawing. Looking at the Parts List, item #13A is there, but item #14 is gone. I go back into the Parts List and 13A is there and there's a blue box around the item # and the description. I uncheck Static Value and number 14 shows up (item # and the description).
Then I go over to sheet two, open that Parts List and it lists 13A at the bottom with all the info I added in sheet one and it's non-visible. Go back to sheet one, open the Parts List and there is no 13A to be found.

Specifically, I have deleted a bolted connection on my design and replaced with a different components but the parts list table does not update - all I see is a lightning bolt in the browser next to the parts list but I cannot update it here.
