AutoCAD Inventor :: Derived Part From Assembly In Position Representation?

Jan 30, 2013

I have found an strange behaviour of derivin part from assembly when position repre is used.

There are lost or moved some part. It seems that this is another bug in Inventor 2013SP1.1.

AutoCAD Inventor :: VBA - Getting Derived Part In Assembly BOM

Jul 19, 2012

I have a vba project that can extract an assembly BOM.

However, it does not output derived parts. What is wrong with my code, shown in the attached file?

What I am trying to do is create a ipt file of a "Laser-Cut" component. Use this component to make another component with drilled, tapped holes in it. Then use this plate, containing the drilled and tapped holes in an assembly.

I need to output this "Laser-Cut" part in my vba created BOM. Is it possible?

AutoCAD Inventor :: ILogic For View Representation Of Part File (in Assembly)

I have received a great solution from Bobvdd allowing ilogic control of the view rep in a part file (not an assembly file). The code below works brilliantly when the part file is the active document. However when the part is placed in an assembly and the ilogic is run with the assembly active, the code produces no result. How to modify the top 6 lines of code?

AutoCAD Inventor :: Multiple Components In Assembly - Derived Part Not Updating?

Using the sketch to drive geometry, using the parameters to drive various extrude lengths.

Geometry changes seem to propogate quite well, while parameter changes do not...is this a bug or am I doing something wrong?  Generally have to open each individual part and "edit derived part" to force changes to propgate...

I would like to simply add them to an assembly in their respective axis positions.

Obviously "place" drops in in an arbitrary position to then be "Assembled". Not what I am looking for.

I was looking for a copy/  paste function between part / assembly but there seems no way to paste into an assembly.

AutoCAD Inventor :: Tube And Pipe Position Representation

Aug 20, 2013

I have an assembly that features tube and pipe, flexible hose to be specific.  If I create a Positional Representation in the assembly file that moves the connecting components to different locations, the tube and pipe assembly updates appropriately, and the hoses find their new routes when that view is active - in the assembly.  Now, when I go to make a drawing of this assembly and bring it in, and I try to create a view of the assembly using this alternate Positional Representation, it will not display the alternate tube routes, only the original.  The components update and move to their new locations and orientations but the hose will not budge / update / adjust, no matter how many times I try rebuilding.

One thing I notice, though, is that if I have the assembly file open, and I switch to the alternate representation in the assembly, the drawing will properly display the alternative tubing routes. Is there any way to get both views on the same sheet?

AutoCAD Inventor :: Create An Assembly With Representation

Oct 20, 2011

I am trying to create an assembly with different representation. let me take a small example and explain. I am trying to create an assembly with say 2part. 1. A circular base plate of 6in dia (An assembly by itself in my case). 2. A plate on top of that say 4in,3in, 4,5in.

in one representation I want to have the base plate and 4in plate on top with say 0.2in holes going all the way through on 1in bore circle.

In another representation I want to use the same base plate with 3in plate on top with 0.2 in holes on 1.5in bore circle. When I am creating an extrusion in one representation view it is still showing on the other representation too.

I want to know if there is a way to turn off the feature (representation wise) so that when i turn on the 4in plate i can see the 4in holes and when i turn on 3in plate i can see the 3in holes.

I don't want to have multiple ipts for the base plate as i am dealing with an assembly for the base plate. the only difference is the locations of the holes for different top plate. I want to create just one top level assembly.

AutoCAD Inventor :: Multibody Part View Representation?

Sep 11, 2013

For some multibody parts I use view representation in order to show for example one or more bodies only. For that I  lock the view  representation. Usually I have more than 3 of them. The part can have different configurations. The problem is that when a new solid is made, it will be visible in the locked view representations also. I thought the lock option should work in the same way like for assemblies, because if you lock the view in an assembly new parts wont be visible.

AutoCAD Inventor :: How To Set Representation View For Part In Drawing

Oct 13, 2013

If you've had to use  different design view representation of the same PART on a drawing in multiple Views at the same time, you already know that whenever you suppress completly a feature, the representation loose the condition stated in the model view and if the suppressed feature is reactivated, it then appear in all view. You have to right-click on the view and select "Apply design View" to reset it, or re-select the design view representation in "Edit view".

Recently I faced a case where i had to build a iLogic multi-body part representing a crate made of either sheet or bar, with a removable top and variable solid for top, sidewall and base, driven trought a in-drawing form! Reason being the customer wanted a easy, useable model for the shipping clerk to generate a custom crate drawing for the crate contractor, therefore freeing precious time for the drafting departement. Usually I would have used occurence visibillity from a assembly, but the document management part of the deal, was too much for the computer illiterate user... So, off i went creating a multi-body part, only to face the aforemention problem with view changing representation due to complete solid suppression.

So here's How-to Set representation view for part in drawing:

The trick is to set every view to it's representation by using the edit window interface code.

The iLogic line to set a View to a specific Design View Representation:

ActiveSheet.View("1").View.SetDesignViewRepresentation("View5", False)ActiveSheet.View("1").View.IsRasterView = FalseThisApplication.ActiveView.Update()

I use this code in "IF" statement. You must repete the code for each view, removing the "Raster" line force a raster only reaction on the view, and the update must be placed after each view, otherwise it only update the last one.

Example:
If TYPE_COUVERCLE = "AUCUN" Then

ActiveSheet.View("2").View.Suppressed = TrueActiveSheet.View("1").View.SetDesignViewRepresentation("View5", False)ActiveSheet.View("1").View.IsRasterView = FalseThisApplication.ActiveView.Update()ActiveSheet.View("3").View.SetDesignViewRepresentation("View2", False)ActiveSheet.View("3").View.IsRasterView = FalseThisApplication.ActiveView.Update()ActiveSheet.View("4").View.SetDesignViewRepresentation("View1", False)ActiveSheet.View("4").View.IsRasterView = FalseThisApplication.ActiveView.Update()
Else If TYPE_COUVERCLE = "CONTREPLAQUÉ" Then

[Code]...

I'm telling the model that the disapearing element "TYPE_COUVERCLE" is driving the representation, only when it change does it fix the view, regenerating or changing the Design View Representation (the TYPE_SIDE and TYPE_BOTTOM are always active or always suppressed in their respectives views, therefore not influencing their respective appearance in other view). If you had multiple dissapearing solid or feature you would have to build a similar code for every one of them...

AutoCAD Inventor :: Add-in For Derived Part Positioning?

Apr 11, 2006

We have written an add-in that allows you to specify position and non-uniform scaling while creating a derived part.

[URL]

Some potential uses of this add-in include:

1.. To simulate an iFeature where you add or remove material - use Sculpt to add and Split to remove material. Unlike iFeature you could edit the source and make the changes be reflected in the derived part.

2.. To simulate an iFeature that places a sketch - useful for designing frames.

3.. To design a progressive die - you might want to place, with relative displacements, multiple parts representing different stages (or configurations) of a formed sheet metal part

4.. To realign (rotate) a part - sometimes skeletally driven parts (for example, four-bar linkage members) are not aligned with their "natural" coordinate system, causing skewed drawing views

5.. To derive a part with different scaling factors in X, Y and Z directions, which is useful in mold design

6.. To integrate two skeleton systems that do not share the same coordinate system

7.. To create scaled sketches (this should become useable after R11 SP1)

AutoCAD Inventor :: Measure Dimensions In A Derived Part?

Sep 21, 2012

I´m trying to measure the base dimensions of simple geometric shapes. I started out with plates since they are easy to measure as long as they sit in 90°, 180° and 270° positions relative to the origin. Then Measure.ExtentsLength, Measure.ExtentsWidth and Measure.ExtentsHeight will give me the base dimensions of a plate.

However, if the plate sits abitrary relative to origin this will obviously fail, since Measure.Extents only measures in x,y,z

Is there any way how I get positions of the geometry that is in the part, like corners surfaces on the B-REP so I can calculate the dimensions properly for a plate. I´m not sure if this is possible with iLogic. I have a strong suspicion VB.net would be needed for this.

Another problem I have is that derived parts don´t get triggered to run a script when I change the geometry in the Multibody Part and the rule is set to run by any modelgeometry change.

AutoCAD Inventor :: Create Derived Part Using Only Some Features?

Jan 12, 2014

it's possible to create a derived part using only some of the features of the base components i.e. I've got a funny shaped part with a bunch of holes in it, and I need another part with exactly the same shape but totally different holes (location and size)I know you can do this with the different solids in the part (only use some of the solids) but I haven't been able to figure it out with features, if it's possible at all.

I could probably create one base part (just the shape) and derive both parts from that, but then I've got a part lying around doing jack.using IV 11.

AutoCAD Inventor :: ILogic - Generate Derived Part

Sep 12, 2012

I have created a very simple yet effective  tool for starting a new manifold assembly using iLogic. The rules and windows essentially fill out the size of the block, material type, description, project and part number.

Below I have a hydraulic manifold I have designed and from that I created the final .ipt of the internals. The way I did this (which may not be the best method) was to create a second .ipt matching the LxWxH of the original manifold, next I inserted and aligned both into another .iam file, lastly I derived a third .ipt from a subtraction resulting in the third image below. This is a bit time consuming to create, but has been very useful in error checking our designs. I would like to see if iLogic is capable of allowing me to automate this so we can easily create these internal flowpath .ipt's for every manifold we design.
