I have a surface model of a bin that I am going to use as a master for deriving sheet metal parts for each side of the bin. After creating Sketch 9, which defines the mating flanges of the sheets, I repeatedly get the error noted in the subject when I try creating a derived part from this file.
I narrowed the problem down to the sketch block I used to define the square holes or more specifically a dimension that appears in this sketch block. I originally drew the circle with the square around it within Sketch 9 and then used the Create Block command. Then I patterned the block along the edges and made the pattern symmetric about the mid point of the edge and placed the hole half way out on the flange. (Flange width is set as a user parameter "FlangeWidth"(1.5") and distance to hole is "FlangeWidth/2" or even just a raw value of 0.75").
Now once this dimension is added to the sketch it will also appear in the block editor for the 5-16 Carriage Square block. If this is deleted from the sketch and the block definition and the pattern of holes are left unconstrained in this one direction a derived part can be successfully made. BUT if a dimension is added to the sketch it will trickle down to the block definition and now a derived part will fail...
I realized that my holes are to be on the midline of the flange so I can constrain them there without a dimension and so I can work around this. I just didn't think dimensions to geometry not included in a block were added to the block definition.
I have an assembly file for a fan casing. We reuse this model and scale it up and doen depending on the size of fan.
For transportation we split the caing into several parts and join using flanges. The number and angle of splits changes depending on the job and geometry.
To model this we share a sketch through the parts and use the split solid command to split them.
I would like to able to create sub assemblies from the main assembly so that drawings and masses can be obtained for the sub assemblies. However, the 'Demote' command does not allow you pick individual solids from a multi solid part.
I have tried creating new parts from the split solids but these are not in the correct location as they are not constrained correctly.
Is there a way to use the Demote command as I am proposing? or is there a different method to split my parts?
I'm trying to create an ilogic rule that will look within the folders of an assembly and take the contents of each of those folders and demote them to separate sub-assemblies.
ie. Assembly1 contains NewFolder 1. NewFolder 1 contains Part1:1 and Part2:1. Upon executing the ilogic rule, I would like Assembly1 to contain NewFolder 1 and within NewFolder 1, Assembly1-01. Assembly1-01 contains Part1:1 and Part2:1. I would like this ilogic rule to look within each successive folder within Assembly1 and demote them according to their position in the browser such that NewFolder 1 - at the top of the browser list - contains Assembly-01, NewFolder 2 contains Assembly-02, etc.
I currently copy a master assembly with browser folders that contain parts and sub-assemblies to a secondary assembly where I manually demote the contents of the folders to sub-assemblies. When I create a drawing for our machine assembly department, the demoted sub-assemblies to isolate only those parts - nuts, bolts and the pieces they fit to - so it is easier for the assembly department when putting a machine together.
Is it possible, using ilogic, to demote folder contents to sub-assemblies with an assembly document?
I am having a problem with PS CS4 when I go to use the clone stamp tool I get an error message stating "could not use clone stamp because of a clone stamp error" I searched around but only found topics relating to cs3. I am using a Gateway gt series with Vista home premium Nvidia GEforce 8500 video card and 4 gb ram.
I get this error message all the time even though i made a duplicate of the background layer. The used layer is unlocked and have selected the target with the alt key. What is happening and how do i correct this? Should i do a reinstall of PSE10.
A way to create a copy of an open part by starting from a template part file and recreating all the features?
Is there a simple way to copy a sketch definition from one part to another using either VBA or VB.net? Is there a way to access the browser so the order of feature creation can be copied?
Could not use the clone stamp tool because the area to clone has not been defined (option-click to define a source point). this is what shows up in the command box when ever I click to start to pick the spot i want to use as the clone. makes my cloning tool useless. I have reset the tools restrted my computer.
I have been away from PhotoShop for awhile and have not used CS3 for over a year. When I try to use the clone tool a pop up tells me unable to use tool due to a program error. How can I fix?
I'm trying to use the clone tool to erase creases around an eye.
I have the layer with the eye in it active, I choose the clone tool, I hit CTRL and click the area of flesh around the eye I want to copy, I see a moving outline of the flesh that's being copied, It works spiffingly! I change brush size to work in a smaller area, I hit CTRL and click the area of flesh I want to copy, I see a moving outline of the flesh I want to copy, But nothing! My cursor moves, but no cloning going on.
This has been plaguing me for a while but I've had projects going that I didn't want to interrupt. It's gotten to the point that I just can't take it anymore. I really need the clone tool for this phase of this project
I'm trying to use iLogic Design Copy to copy an assembly and all its associated parts to another directory. The assembly contains content center parts. Inventor warns me that the destination file of one of the CC parts (and 18 others) will be overwritten. When I go ahead and copy anyway, the copying process stops at that specific CC part. The Design Copy Progress dialog box states there is an error copying that CC part. When I close the Design Copy Progress dialog box, Inventor crashes.
The error copying the CC part: I'm allowed to use content center parts in iLogic Design Copied stuff, right? I searched some related topics and I'm under the impression that Inventor keeps the CC parts in its own directory and shouldn't be trying to overwrite them.
i have a problem in Inventor 10 with the add method, which i didn't have in inventor 8, it's very puzzling. I open an assembly, add some parts (this goes without problems) then i open another assembly, change some stuff, close it again, so i'm back in the first assy and then the next add method fails.
Public Sub AddOccurrence() ' open assy Set oAssy = ThisApplication.Documents.Open("C:TempAssy.iam", True) ' Set a reference to the assembly component definition. Dim oAsmCompDef As AssemblyComponentDefinition Set oAsmCompDef = ThisApplication.ActiveDocument.ComponentDefinition [code]....
I just got the attached error message when trying to exit a sketch that I was editing. Windows says I have 11Gb available so there must be a problem with Inventor. I am now stuck with no way to edit the sketch without getting this error. It's a part that was migrated from 2011 format using task scheduler. Using 2012 SP2
I have AutoCad2013 installed on my system, I am running Windows 8.1, my system updated automatically. After updating none of my Autodesk software will launch. When I try Inventor I get a capatibility error and I follow the link and get the SP1 file but it says it also no capatible. When I try and launch Autocad 2013 I get an error thas says" acad.exe This app has failed to start because its side by side configuration is in correct" I als have Revit 2013 on my system and an error comes up saying "This app was unable to start correctly (Oxc0150002)"
I just recently had Inventor 2012 installed on my computer and I went to make a frame generator and an error message popped up and won't let me make the generator. I attached a .jpeg to this that shows what error keeps appearing.
I found a weird thing with the command 'Project Cut Edges'. I'll explain what I did. I made a new part and added a derived part. This derived part consists of 2 beams (see top left picture in attachment) (these beams are NOT Content Center parts, but I drew the beams myself, so it would be the same if I drew just rectangles as beams). The beams are at a specified distance of each other (see top right picture in attachment). I added a sketch on the YZ Plane and clicked on 'Project Cut Edges' (see bottom left picture in attachment). I added a rectangle and extruded the rectangle. But if I click on the 'Project Cut Edges' item in the browser under Sketch (or I open the Sketch), not all the lines are there anymore. And if I make the distance between the beams smaller, the lines get shorter too (and vice versa).
Every once and a while a get an error while I am trying to generate a mesh for a part. The error says: Warning:1 No additional information is available. Internal error in the mesher.Sometimes I can go back to the part and change a dimension exit the sketch and then change the dimension back to the original value and then I can get the mesh to work. Today I can't get the mesh to work. How I can do eliminate this error?
I am using Inventor 2014. I am receiving an error while closing a drawing. The error says "One or more drawings are being computed and are currently in raster state. The document(s) may be closed and pending updates will resume when the document is reopened.
Do you wish to continue closing?"
The drawing shows outdated views which I tried updating but they do not update. When I am trying to print the drawing, it shows incomplete drawing.
When trying to shell a part i get the error: the attempted shell operation was unable to solve for a vertex....etc. i have attached the problem part file, of which the drawing is a fairly complicated frame (a chassis concept for a 3 wheeled race car i am designing)
How the part was made:It was created in an assembly using the frame generator tool and then converted to part file using the shrinkwrap feature. When using the shrinkwrap command, i selected: single solid body merging out seams between planar faces, All hole patching, break link, and remove all internal voids. and then when trying to shell i get the error message when selecting a wall thickness of 2mm.
i cant understand why the shell feature does not work as i have successfully shelled a very similar part file (with only slight differences in geometry from the file attached in the same way as what i am trying to do with this part). i can provide this part file upon request or the assembly file from which either was created. i need to shell the component in this way so that i can run accurate FEA (stress analysis) for crash simulations on it
I have implement following code(C#) to add linear dimension. But after execution, "Unspecifed error " message occured at AddLinear API. What is the problem with code.
I'm running several dynamic simulations via the API. Then I am getting the results to write in a text file. I want to know the force in a joint so I get the vector of values via
Dim oResults As DSResults Dim oResult As DSResult Dim value() as Double Call oResult.GetResultValues(value())
this vector is a time, force vector but when I verify mi data against the Output Graphe all the decimal points from the force information are gone.
Example:
In Output Grapher
Time (s)Force(N) 0.0118955.66 0.0219500.88
In the vector from API
0.01 1895566 0.02 1950088
is there a way to correct this? I'm getting many force and movement info, so I don't know which ones are reliable.
I have a parameters only part which drives the parts in an assembly. When I change the parameters and go back into the assembly I am getting an error. I can accept the error and drag the parts around and they snap into place, which ends the error. It works, but isn't very appealing to the eye. Is there any way to fix this?
