Is it possible to rotate a survey point symbol, my grips are missing? Civil 3d 2013.

Converting files from Civil 3D 2013 to AutoCAD 2007. We are currently trying to utilize ETRANSMIT to share drawing files with our clients. When going through the command we choose "AutoCAD 2007 Drawing Format w/ Exploded AEC Objects"
This seems to work for everything except for the survey symbols. All of the linework, xrefs, labels and drefs come in fine when opening in LDD 2009. However upon closer inspection, we have no symbols: tress, power poles, gas meters, etc.
Sharing our files with a utility company becomes impossible without these symbols. Is there anything we can try?

My field crew assumed a coordinate system and surveyed a job. I need to rotate the points in my dwg to match another survey. I have not found a rotate points command. Other LDT type commands have been replaced by standard ACAD commands by adding the transparent commands to them. I tried to use the ACAD rotate command and the transparent commands to rotate my points, but there is no transparent command to find multiple points. I need to select the points by point number range if possible.

I calculate out the angle of rotation around my section corner (in my case 0.0641) and when I apply the translate survey data, it rotates it at a much larger scal than specified (1.5236). I have also tried by "pick in drawing" to specify rotation without much luck.

We need to move a survey point. I know the point can be unlocked in the drawing and moved, but how can the survey database be updated? After the point is moved the database does not update even after closing and reopening the dwg and database.

what we are doing now is using the point database as a storage location but it fails for notification on when a point # is duplicated.
surveys has a drawing file they use to import, store and build the existing ground surface from the points. this allows the notification of when a point number is duplicated. but it is not as secure or flexable as the old LDD way.
We don't use field books just text files from the collectors imported in. Vault is not an option for us. (at this time)
so what i am looking for is how others are adapting to this change, and what worked or not.

It ought to be easier to move a survey point..I do believe my survey points are unlocked and I still can move them.

If not:
Question 2: Is it possible to transfer the survey database from one office to another so the end office can make datum changes to the survey COGO points. Will the link between the file and the database still apply?

Is there a way to "data shortcut" information imported from a data file into multiple drawings? If so, is there a way to lock the data points "in place" and not be able to adjust the point location/elevation, but allow the movement the text information around within the drawing.
The goal is to have multiple drawings with these data points and be able to move the text information from the style, but not (in a million years) be able to move the data point itself. There may be multiple drawings with these points located within them.
Survey database is open for edit, drawing displays survey points and figures from imported survey data files. When I try to use _AeccCreatePointManual, after selecting a location, entering a description and elevation, no point is created. The command appears to complete and gives no error but no point shows up in the drawing or survey database. Default layer is <use current>.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI am wondering if it's possible to have a point code automatically add data to a user-defined field either in the survey database or in a drawing. For instance, our surveyors currently will code a catch basin as CB INV2.2 if it has an invert depth of 2.2'. I have a survey point user-defined property called InvertDepth. Is it possible to get the survey database to automatically add 2.2 to that user-defined property or does that have to be manually input? I have an expression and a label style that will take the elevation shot and subtract the depth number to give me the invert elevation on a lable, but I'd like to see if this can be done automatically without having to manually type in the depth on every point that is a catch basin or other inlet.
I've looked into the description key-set's parameters, but they seem to be mostly for display purposes and writing a full description.
It is my understanding that C3D will only display the first point when there's more than 1 code for a survey point.
My first thought was to copy the line in the PENZD txt file and edit so that there's only 1 code listed. I tried appending the point number with "A" and ".1" without luck I assume I would need to use the next available point number.
An example of my txt file is:
17371,298429.877,568639.651,801.030,LPM SGN This produces only the light pole symbol and not the sign.

When I import Points (w/o Survey Database) that contain Point UDP's they come in just fine, (see attached). However, when I import those same Points thru the Survey Database it does not populate the addition UDP info on the Point Label (see attached). Why? I have created the Styles, Point File Format and I have even added data to Survey DB Extended Properties.

Basically if i try to draw a line of obtain a distance using the NOD osnap on these point symbols i get nothing, its like they dont have a NOD to snap too.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI'm looking to change an elevation of a survey point within a drawing. I can see where it is possible to manually unlock the points from the Survey Database to allow the user to edit the point. I'm not seeing a method or property in the API Help for 2013 to do the unlocking with code.
Also is it possible to convert a Survey Point to a regular Cogo Point through the code? Or do I have to delte the point and then recreate it as a COGO point? I think this will be my work around if the above doesn't work.
Sometimes when i import points Civil 3d creates a Point group in the drawing with the name of the point file, sometime it does not. I prefer when it does create this point group. It always seems to create a Survey Point Group. How do i control wether or not a point group is created in the import?

Is there a way to have a multiline point description? For example, in the raw description, i wrote out the text, but I would like to return a line for the parentheses.

When importing an event, my point descriptions are cutoff at 16 characters.
Is there any setting to increase this?
If I have Microsoft Access installed on my computer, can one easily modify the table?
If you can modify the table using Access, can you define a default DB or would I have to redefine the string length within a table everytime I create a DB thru Civil 3D GUI?
I am trying to set-up point and point label styles to show trees on a survey plan. The point styles is set with a block, and a label is a regular label style that shows a point number and elevation. The problem comes when the label is positioned outside of the block that represents the point. What I need is sort of fixed offset from the center of the point.
View 9 Replies View RelatedWhen you use the Import Survey Data wizard it automatically creates a point group that goes to the top of the list. This used to be created with a standard point style and description, but something has changed and I'm getting a different symbol and label that I definitely don't want as the default. I would think that this would be controled by the CreatePointGroup settings, but that isn't working for me. I can't find any other settings that would override or control this.

I want my survey symbols to come in on their own layers, separate from the point label. Lets use UPOL as an example: I have a point style UPOL*. It has assigned to it a block representing the utility pole.The size is set to drawing units, and sized to .1 inches.
The marker is on layer: V-NODE-POLE-SYMB
The label is on layer: V-NODE-POLE
The description key is as follows. UPOL*
Style: UPOL*
Point Label Style: Standard
Layer: V-NODE-POLE-SYMB
No other parameters have been choosen; scale parameter, fixed scale, or use drawing scale.
Have I done this correctly, to accomplish my task? I also noticed that I cannot turn the point label off by picking it. I have to turn the layer off in the layer manager.Should I use the description keys to scale the symbol, instead of the point style?
How to insert the point table into paper space rather than model space and creating a mview?
Also, is there a way to add the point style symbol to the table?
When I import points from a survey database there is a very large new number being assigned to points that have overlap/numbering conflicts.
I had some survey from one source that was in the 1000 pt # range & additional survey that was in same numbering sequence.
When importing the points I chose "Resolve all" it is renumbering the Point number value to the 5xxxxxxxx range?
Is there some setting where I can change this to a lower # or how/why this is happening?
Next Point Number value @ Settings Tab>Point>Commands>CreatePoints>Point Identity>Next Point Number = 3.

In previous versions of Civil 3D there was a grip on the point marker that allowed me to rotate the block used as a point marker, where did this grip go in 2013? How can I rotate an individual point marker without having to create a separate point style?
View 1 Replies View RelatedIs it possible to rotate the point labels when working with point files from an elevation Survey in Ciivil 3D? When activating the labels visibility they are horizontal, but when I rotate the drawing to a side view I am can´t see them.
So far I was working with Autocad (importing a dxf). Is there a way to rotate at the same time all the points labels, wich in this case are just text items?
I just discovered survey figure groups and am playing around with them. Great way to bring certain figures in & out. What seems crazy is that I have to check them on/off one at a time. Am I missing something or is this the only way to add figures to a figure group?

Now I cannot do the "Import point file" of the Survey2 Data B in Survey Databases, because the Survey2 Data B is locked up - see the attached file that has a red circle with an arrow on. How I can unlocked the locked Survey 2 Data in the Survey Databases.

1- Import the asc file into my drawing.
2- Convert the asc file to a FBK file
3- Import my FBK file. The survey figure linework generated doesn't overlay my previously imported asc file. I checked the FBK file and the coord's match the asc file. I'm confused as to why the survey figures don't overlay the survey points from the asc file, since the coords match in both? The survey figures are all shifted .7' and 54deg. from the points. The elevations are all good on the survey figures, as they match the survey points.
So my quick fix is to explode the survey figures, since I don't really need them for what I'm doing, and then select all the 3d polylines and move them to them to an appropriate survey point. Everything then looks fine and I can get the job done.
However, I would like some insight as to why this might be happening. It's strange that the FBK and asc coordinates match, but the survey figures aren't lying over them.
I am trying to rotate a survey in layout view so that it will print at 1:1000 on an A0 piece of paper as the survey is orientated NEW. When I try and rotate it in viewport so that it is aligned to the paper and then go back to model space the co-ordinates have changed. It is a important that the co-ordinates remain correct in model space as this is a real world hydrographic survey.
View 9 Replies View Related way using autoCAD LT 2014 to get CAD to display the elevation heights of survey points without having to type the heights in text boxes next to each individual point. i can insert a field which displays the elevation of the point but doing this again i would have to do every point individually.
Other words is there a way to select all the survey points required and get CAD to display a certain property, which in my case is the elevation height of that survey point, next to it? so the survey points look like ---> x 23.35, x 23.57 etc..
