I have downloaded a stp file from a supplier, it has a main body and a couple of lids. I want to remove the lids so it shows what is inside but I can find a way of selecting the lid elements. Is this even possable with a stp file?
I have tried in Inventor and 3DS Max too with no luck.
I have been migrating dozens and dozens of .pat files from one version of AutoCAD to the next for many, many versions. Most recently in AutoCAD 2013 the .pat files were stored in the C:Program FilesAutodeskAutoCAD 2013SupportPatterns - worked fine. During the migration to 2014 I received an install error report stating that this subdirectory did not exist and could not be created. Alternately it stated that the new default path C:UsersUsernameAppDataRoamiongAutodesk|AutoCAD 2014R19.1enuSupport will be used instead.
At first I created the Patterns subdirectory where it could not be done automatically. No luck. Then I placed the Patterns subdirectory in C:UsersUsernameAppDataRoamiongAutodesk|AutoCAD 2014R19.1enuSupportPatterns and no luck.
Trying to utilize a .sid file within Standard AutoCAD 2013, all suggestions point to an Object Enabler but notice that for 2013 all are for Civil 3D, Plant...
so i recently started taking an architect autocad class. our first project was nothing special but for some reason whenever i save it on my removeable usb after working on it at home, it wont open on the schools computer. it doesnt open as the specific file i wanted, but instead it opens up a blank file named drawing1.dwg. the file name does not even come up at the top of the screen.
when trying to reopen a file from the "recently used" file list? When I try to click on a file from the list it gives me a message stating "error opening file". I know this will happen if the file has been moved to another location, but the files are in the same place as when I originally opened them. None of the files in the list will open anymore. Is this a pathing issue?
How can you use a template file from your personal files to use it in an already existing .dwg file.
I knwo how to do it if I start the drawing from scratch and I select that template, but I want to put this existing drawing into my personal template file from my documents.
I want to create an AutoCAD point clound (.pcg) from a FARO laser scan file (.fls). When I go through the steps in AutoCAD Mechanical 2013, I get the following error (see attached file for screen shot):
Progress....... Failure! - Fail to open scan file. Complete, 0 point cloud created, 1 failed.
Is there a program that can rename a new file to match another file name (They are in 2 different folders)
What I have is hundreds of PDF files and I have to rename each of them to match the name of an existing file in another folder. Retyping the names is killing me. I hope to find a program to click on one to match another.
I am having one query. I always recieves dwg file of diff. units from my clients. I have to convert those drawing dim manually. Is there any way by which i can import those diff units dwg files in my dwg file and get the content of these files automatically converted to the units that i want. I spend lot of time converting units.
I have a 3D point file that I would like to import into autocad 2013. The file contains survey points from which I wish to calculate volumes. There are a number of points, so entering them into autocad manually would be impractical. Is it possible to use a .PT3 file in autocad, and if so, how is it done?
I have been using AutoCAD windows for 15 years but recently purchased AutoCAD Lt 2013 for Mac. I am doing some contract work for a company who have their own plot style (ctb file) that I need to use. I can't work out how to insert it into the Mac version.
I have an autocad drawing that I can convert to STL file, but there is no image when I open the file on ABviewer 9. I am not sure the drawing is correct. See the attached dwg.
I got this big file of a map, and, when I paste the different pieces of the map, some of them are invisible. I already erased all the scale stil but it doesn't work. The files are there but i can't see them, i think there's something wrong with the blocks.
Having an issue where the .ctb works in some paper space tabs and not in others. When we do the plot preview on one tab the line weight is correctly shown, and when we go to a different tab, the preview displays colors and no line weight. We tried this on two separate machines both running the same operating system, AutoCad 2013 and using the same .ctb.. We tried creating a new copy of the ctb. There must be a setting that is different in the viewports, but I can not figure out what it is.
I've recently been sent an IGS file via a secure file transfer site. Accessed the site, downloaded the file no problem but can't open it in ACad.
I've been advised to use the IMPORT command but this hasn't worked either, just provides me with the pop up saying only V7 & V8 are supported, see screen shot below.
Do I need to purchase a specific piece of software (plug in) to allow me to open the file?
We are providing files to a fabricator for their use. They have requested the drawing file, it is a 3D solid model AutoCAD 2013 file, be provided in .wcs format. I assume I need a piece of software to make the conversion but have not found one.
Upgraded to Window 7 64 bit and autocad 2014 and now I can't make pdf's from my dwgs. The dwg to pdf pc3 file is in the same directory as the other plot files and my search path points to that directory. When I try to conver to pdf, I'm asked to select the file from the list (see attached)
I'm trying to attach a DWG file to my post but it is appearing not to let me. Shouldn't I be able to attach that type of file? Or is there another file type I should be using?
My file has over 100 layers and 20,000 containers that are in 3D. It worked fine when I drew them. After I closed the file, it always takes 5 to 10 min to open. I can't delete a layer (layer2) or rotate angle of view or any normal command such as purge and audit.., it always crashes.
I was wondering that if I did anything wrong casued this, and that whether my approach of drawing these is correct, performace wise.. and what would be the better way of doing this..because my drawing is now uesless I can't even rotate it in vp ro do anything...
When opening the a .dwg file in autodesk I am prompted with a message telling me that this DWG file was saved by an application that was not developed or licenced by Autodesk. What would you like to do? I say continue opening the drawing. Next the drawing opens but another message appear Proxy Information.
The drawing you have opened or referenced contain custom objects created by an unavailable Object ARX application. You do not need the original application to display proxy representations of objects that were saved in the drawing. However, many manufacturers including Autodesk, provide object enablers that also allow you to edit these custom objects. Visit the AutoCAD Object Enabler assistant web page to locate Autodesk object enablers or contact the software publisher about object enablers for other applications.
I believe the drawing has come from a Pro E environment. The file has been attached.
I'm trying to create a new pc3 file following instructions in the help menu.
Click Application menu> Print> Manage Plotters. In the Autodesk Plotter Manager, double-click the Add-a-Plotter Wizard shortcut icon. When I click on "Manage Plotters", windows explorer opens the folder where our pc3 files are located. I don't see Add-a-Plotter Wizard shortcut icon?
I've never created a pc3 file from scratch. I've modified existing pc3 files and done a save as before, but I need to create one from scratch in 2013. Some of the old ones won't work as others have explained here [URL].......and it was suggested to make a new one. Also, when I edit a pc3 file in 2013, I no longer get the option to either "Apply changes for the current plot only" or "Save changes to the following file".
I'm starting a lighting audit project, and I'd like to create a better scene, instead of relying on libraries.
Lighting software is using .scr files. Therefore, I'd like to know if is there any way for me to create a spot-on 3d room in CAD, and converting everything into a .scr file to be read.
Attached is a .txt (forum doesn't like the .scr) library model that roughly resembles my object of study (varying dimensions).
I am trying to import some .dgn files into Autocad Architecture 2013 but I get a message that reads "This DGN file does not contain any models that can be imported into this drawing". I tried importing the files to Revit Structure 2013 as well without success. I have been able to import the files into Rhino 3d and that seems to work fairly well.
I am trying to import a CSV file in AutoCAD 2014 but cannot find proper function. Is there any automatic function that will do it for me or I have to create some kind of tool to accomplish that task?
