AutoCAD 2010 :: Blocks Plotting Out Way Too Light?

Mar 15, 2012

I'm having trouble with plotting out my drawing. The border comes out fine, the text comes out fine, when I draw something manually it comes out fine, however, any item that is a block on the drawing comes out extremely light.

It's not 'xdwgfadectrl' I've tried that, it's set to zero. All the transparencies are set to zero, and it's not just on one drawing, but a few drawings. I have tried multiple ctb files, assuming one wasn't working right, but that didn't work.

It is something that is affecting the blocks alone, causing them to print out extremely light.

When I go into block editor, the actual lines of the block are on layer zero, but I don't think that would affect anything, plus, layer zero isn't set to any type of transparency or fade.

AutoCAD LT :: Text Plotting To Light

Jul 12, 2012

We've recently upgraded to a new Multi-Copier and we've been having problems printing to it. When we print a full size drawing and scale it to fit to a Ledger Sheet, the text became very hard to read. Changing layers, linetype scale, and even fonts don't work. It still prints at the same.

AutoCAD Architecture :: Plans Plotting Too Light?

Dec 15, 2012

I plot my drawings from a layout to PDF then can print from various printers, but the PDF and subsequent plots come out very light, somewhat like in a halftone plot.   The image in the paper view port also show lighter than the color in the model view.   I am using the AIA standard color.ctb plot style and have tried switching to various styles.

AutoCAD Print / Plot :: Drawing Is Plotting Light

May 15, 2012

Im having an issue with drawings plotting too light in AutoCAD 2013. Polylines with a specified thickness of 1/32" will print dark, but the rest of the drawing is almost unreadable because it is too light.  "Plot with Plotstyles" is selected

I can use 2009 to print, which is also installed on my machine, and the drawing will print as intended.Using the same plot style, same settings in both.

AutoCAD 2013 :: XREF Titleblock Plotting Too Light

Jan 4, 2013

Working in AutoCAD 2013

Plotting from the Layout - Model is plotting fine, XREF Titleblock is plotting out too light, about 20% of what model plots.

XREFd on 0 layer (tried on different layer, result = no difference) all other aspects of plot are correct

XDWGFADECTL set at 1

LAYLOCKFADECTL set at 1

Print Preferences

- line and text (not photo)

- dpi 600

I found a work-around but it isn't realistic in the longterm, I inserted the Title block as a BLOCK and exploded it, and then the titleblock plotted fine with each of the different Title Block layers plotting correct to pen width.

AutoCad 2D :: Blocks Are Blacked-out When Plotting To PDF

Jul 25, 2011

I am using autocad architecture 2012; the problem i am having is that when i pdf any sheet that contains a block, the plot prints the block/symbol completely filled with color (black).

when i pdf, the client (commercial) demands that we use the "DWG to PDF" setting, however this causes text throughout the sheets to convert into unreadable dashed lines, therefore our office has started to use "Adobe PDF" for all our pdfing needs. but now the blocks (mainly the title block tags, and keynote symbols) do not plot properly. I always preview the sheet before pdfing and it always looks normal... it seems like the problem occurs somewhere between the file and adobe acrobat x... is it possible for the verison of adobe to be the culprit?

AutoCAD Print / Plot :: Plotting Blocks With Viewport Transparency

Jan 8, 2014

Trying to get blocks to plot transparent for only 1 viewport.  Using viewport transparency works for all objects in applicable layer except blocks that have been created using "0" layer. I cannot use transparency by block since the blocks must show in other layouts without transparency.  Also cannot re-create blocks using different layer since the source file is kept on network for all to use.  Is there a way to plot blocks with the vp transparency of its current layer despite having created the block in another layer?

AutoCAD Dynamic Blocks :: Automated Scale Bar - Title Block Text To Reflect Plotting At Half Size

Sep 27, 2013

Any way to get a scale bar/title block text to reflect plotting at half size?

We use the common (24x36) sheet size for all projects, but when plotting we send out half size (12x18) as well.  This means the scale bar reading 1"=40' is no longer correct. It should read 1"=20'.  I would like to automate this.

AutoCAD 2010 :: DWG To PDF - Parts Of Drawing Very Light

Jun 3, 2013

I'm having some problems when using the DWG to PDF.  When we open our PDF the parts of our drawings will be very light.  It appears that most of the time it is only circles or arcs that are coming up lighter than the specified lineweight.  When the PDF is printed everything comes out as desired, but we need good looking digital copies as well.

I found some stuff talking about using the correct CTB and some other things of that nature, but I am pretty new to autocad (and self-taught) so there are several basics things that I probably missed out on and could use some clarification on.

AutoCAD 2010 :: Plotting To PDF Using CTB

Oct 18, 2013

I'am a quite expert Autocad user, but I have now a version wich seems to have some problem in plotting using Monochrome.ctb or Grayscale.ctb

If I choose one (It's the same problem with both), all the coloured layer in the layout visualization become black of course, but if I preview or I print it, the pdf created has all layer's colours.

of course the PLOT WITH PLOT STYLES box is checked.

AutoCAD 2010 :: Lines And Text Too Light - How To Darken

Mar 3, 2012

I've attached a DWG and a PDF of a 3D drawing where some of the annotation elements are plotting too light. Other elements, like the Title Block are dark enough but I can't figure out what the difference is.

I know this is based on layer properties, but when I compare the lines and text that print dark on FRAME 070 with the lines that print light on frame DIMS-tbl, I don't see any difference in linetype, lineweight, plotstyle, etc.

The PDF was created with the DWG to PDF.pc3 Printer/Plotter, but I have tried several others and they all produce the results.

AutoCAD 2010 :: Inconsistencies When Plotting To PDF

Apr 20, 2012

I have checked every setting and have even  redrawn the file where the error occurs. We send out for prints to a printing company as we do not have a plotter so I need to fix this. When the file is converted to a pdf. the "sand hatch" seems to be printing at an inconsistant lineweight all within the same section. This error occurs when printing from a DWG to export to an Adobe PDF. The hatch is all on the same layer same settings and drawn in the same action period. it makes no sense why it would change when all the settings are exactly the same.

I have also tried drawing them on a new layer i created matching the same layer settings and it still converts inconsistant in the same two areas. I have completely erased that section of drawing and redrew it  not changing out of any tools or settings and it just keeps doing it. I have also tried checking all the pdf settings and tried plotting it different ways and it wont dissapear. The only time it does not show up is when i export a window shot directly from model space.

But i need to print it from paperspace and this is where the error occurs. It almost seems as though the export is not processing the drawing corretly as it is converting the drawing but i dont know how to fix it. I first noticed the problem when i recieved the prints back from the printer as you can clearly see the hatch appears thicker and darker in two sections along the same hatch. I then looked at the pdf and it appeared fine, but as i zoomed in on the pdf up to 300% that is when you notice the change.

AutoCAD 2010 :: Excel Spread Sheet Printing To Light

Nov 18, 2012

If you review the attached screen shot of a PDF you will see that my Excel spreadsheet object prints very light. This is added to a Paper Space layer that is same layer as the Title Block, which is printing fine. The colorful solid objects are each in their own viewports.

I have set the OLE property "Plot Quality" to "Monochrome", also I have set the "Plot Style Table" to "monochrome.ctb".

To place the spreadsheet table I have Excel open, I select the columns/rows that I want and then Ctrl-C, I flip over to ACAD and Ctrl-V to place the object, I then resize it by dragging its handles. On screen, in ACAD, it looks fine.

I am creating the PDF using "Cute PDF Writer", which does an excellent job creating PDFs from many applications. I don't think it's related to my problem. I have tried ACAD's "DWG To PDF.pc3", but had a similar problem, but worse in other aspects.

AutoCAD 2010 :: Decimal Units And Plotting

Dec 13, 2012

So we have started some work overseas and I have been trying to make sense of the metric units in CAD. Metric units in general, make way more sense then imperial units but how they work in CAD has been confusing.

I am familiar with the UNITS command and have changed the drawing units to "decimal" and the insertion units to "unitless"

I know that when you draw a 1 unit line in model space it could represent a 1 millimeter line or a 1 meter line and that it is up to the drafter to decide what it will be. I also am familiar with setting up dim styles to dimension correctly based off of whether you are drawing in meters or millimeters.

I have set my Adobe pdf printer to A1 23.4" X 33.1" (594mm x 841mm). when I draw a 1 unit line in paper space and print the layout the 1 unit line measures 1 inch?

AutoCAD 2010 :: Batch Plotting To PDF Margin

Jun 22, 2012

I usually make pdf's by plotting each layout to pdf then combining them with adobe acrobat. Recently i have tried the batch plot to pdf and found that i like it much better but im having a problem with it. I have set up my page sheet manager and have imported my plot sheet settings from a different file. I have checked and double checked that the settings on this file is correct.

My problem is that when i create the batch plot and select the page setup when i create the pdf it cut the left and right side of the page off like there are margins or something. I have created a pdf my plotting to pdf on an individual page and printed it and compared to my batch plot and they are the same scale and size on the paper but the batch plot cuts it off on the sides. I need to get it to print like the plot to pdf so that it is to scale.
