My daughter has need of software to burn dvd's from her old digital tapes. She has an older copy of adobe premier and has the editing done. The tapes are probably d-avi? She is using windows xp prof'. Should i just buy her VS-x3 so she can use that burner that corel lets us download?

VideoStudio :: X4 - Can't Burn A DVD

Feb 26, 2011

I'm using the TBYB version of X4. I have 39 video clips that were recorded on a new samsung standard def. vid cam. The native files are MP4 files. I transfered them from the SD card to my hard drive simply by dragging them over. They play fine in any version of VS.

I'm doing NOTHING fancy. No moving menus. No music on the menus. Just a main title page and enough menu pages to accommodate the 39 files. No audio normalization.

It NEVER gets to the point where it outputs to the DVD. As soon as it finishes whatever it's doing on file 39....whammo....unspecified error. It also takes 30+ minutes to render the file, never getting to the burning.

I have a 2.8ghz Quadcore CPU running Win7 64 bit Professional.

I tried this same procedure in X2. Burning completed successfully to the SAME blank DVD-RW and took approx 30 mins....so X2 on my system is faster.

Unfortunately, X2 is unusable for me with any video files OTHER than AVI files. Any other video files result in "skipping" audio as I've reported in another thread.

I've restared the project from scratch several times but to no avail. Is pointless to try X3 because it has the same audio problem for me that X2 has. My DirectX runtimes are from Oct. of 2010.

VideoStudio :: Does 5 Have DVD Burn Within It

Apr 3, 2012

Does VS5 have the DVD burn program within it, not a separate program? I am using Corel DVD Movie Factory and also use ProX3. I prefer using my own template or rather my own jpegs for the background. Movie Factory forces me to use their templates, meaning I can't just have a jpeg in the background, have to use their gallery and I spend frustrating time moving off the template parts or hiding them, unless it's there in Movie Factory and I just didn't know how to not use something from the gallery.

VideoStudio :: Burn DVD Of M2T Files

Feb 23, 2013

With VS X4 I edited my .mts files into .vsp files. Then successfully created video files (.m2t 1440 x 1080 files) . I selected 1440 x 1080 because it is the setting set on my camcorder.

My question is in the Create disc step:

1. if I burn these .m2t files and select "DVD" would the resolution be back to that of .mpg in the final DVD?
2. If I burn these .m2t files and select "AVCHD" and instead of burning directly onto a disk, placed it on a hard drive folder. Then later could I burn it on a regular DVD disk? If that is the case, is the disk playable on a regular DVD player? Or, do I have to burn it on Blue Ray?

I know I could experiment it but my project has 4 Titles, each of about 30 min duration, that I want to burn. I tried to find the answer on the Forum and also in the Manual but could not find the answer there.

VideoStudio :: X4 Pro - Unspecified Error 5:0:0 During Burn

On Windows 7 OS (64bit) getting the following error when attempting to burn a DVD: Unspecified error 5:0:0

I've attached a jpeg image containing the error.

Tried looking in the knowledgbase, but of course it's under construction. Tried contacting support, but of course the chat system is down. Then to add insult to injury, friggin Corel wants to charge me $15 to describe to them this burn error on their product. If I had known that this was the quality of product and level of support I was going to receive, I never would have purchased this product.

VideoStudio :: Can't Burn Multiple DVDs Or DBs Using X4

Apr 18, 2012

I am trying to burn multiple copies of a video I have produced. In the final screen to create a disk there is an option to choose multiple copies. I always select multiple copies and it burns the first one perfectly, the burner drawer opens and it asks me to provide another disk. When I do so I get the error: "Does not support burning of DVD-Video on Empty disc. Supports burning on DVD-R/DVD-R DL/DVD-RW/DVD+R DL/DVD+RW disc. Please insert another disc to continue, or click Cancel to stop the process."

The disk burner is a ASUS BW-12D1S-U.

This is quite frustrating as I seem to have to cancel each time and ask it to generate another disc, which I suspect is a longer process then just making multiple copies.

VideoStudio :: DVD Burn Fail X3 Windows 7

I'm using video studio pro x3 and windows 7.

When trying to create a disc it opens dvd factory 2010 and does everything Ok but when I try to burn the project it gets about 95% through the burn process and fails. It seems like it is putting the files on but failing in the "writing lead out" phase. I've tried 3 different dvd burns to make sure that isn't the issue. I can create a file and then use nero to burn the disc fine but not when going through VS pro x3/DVD factory

VideoStudio :: Pro X4 - Burn AVCHD At 1280x720p

Jan 3, 2012

VS Pro X4 - I do not consider myself an expert with video editing/authoring, but I do have a fair amount of experience with capturing/editing/authoring h.264 files via a Hauppauge 1212 HD-PVR, ArcSoft Total Media Extreme, and VideoReDo. In fact, I have burned around 5,000 DVD and 2,000 AVCHD discs with outstanding results using those products, as well as editing and storing thousands more captured programs directly to HDD. Unfortunately, these products do not allow me to create Blu-ray discs, so that is why I am trying to switch over to VS X4.

My baseline for what I want from VS X4 is simply what I have been able to do with no effort at all using ArcSoft Total Media Extreme (supplied with the HD-PVR): I capture HD programing at 1280x720p 60fps using a variable bit rate (usually 7 Mbps) and AC3 audio, edit out unwanted material, add menu and chapters, then burn directly to an AVCHD disc. Using this method, I generally get a minimum of 3 hours HD material on a standard DVD5 blank, and total authoring/burning time for a disc is somewhere around 20 minutes.

My problem is that I have not been able to come anywhere close to this efficiency yet with VS X4. The .ts source files play and edit in VS X4 just fine, but then I hit a wall when I try to produce the output. There don't seem to be any default project profiles to create AVCHD 1280x720p, and even when I try to use Customize, i cannot access the needed fields, such as user defined frame size. And everything I have tried produces HUGE output files, 4 or 5 times larger than the source files!

Sample Source file MediaInfo:
ID : 0 (0x0)
Complete name : C:UsersPublicVideosInput for Edit or ResizeHoliday for Lovers 720p_7.1v.TS
Format : MPEG-TS
File size : 2.30 GiB
Duration : 1h 43mn
Overall bit rate mode : Variable
Overall bit rate : 3 166 Kbps
Maximum Overall bit rate : 18.0 Mbps

VideoStudio :: Can't Burn 3.7gb Video File

Aug 13, 2011

I just downloaded/installed Video Studio X4 Pro. Quite impressive. I've been using Roxio but too many problems so wanted to see if Corel is better. Have a minor problem that I haven't been able to solve. Background: I have 16 individual videos of foreign "soap operas" (all approx 3.7gb). All videos are either mpeg2 or avi. I copied all of them with no problem. Then, I wanted to eliminate some useless things at the beginning and end of each one. I went into a video editing program and trimmed approx 5 secs from the beginning and end of each video. After the trimming, I saved the videos to my hard drive in the My Videos folder in the Libraries. Then, because of some difficulties with Roxio, I decided to try Corel.

When I import a video, click on Tools, Create Disc, DVD, unmark Menu, then Burn, I always get the error telling me the total size is larger than the chosen project. This is what I don't understand. If the video, which is approx. 3.7gb,and I'm using a 4.7gb dvd, why am I getting this error? FYI: I went ahead and clicked on Yes, try to fit to disc, and after approximately 45 mins, it completed, ejected the disc and all I had was approx. 1/8" burn area. The properties of that disc showed it was a video.ts and when I clicked on it, the windows player opened and said can't be rendered. I don't under stand why X$ Pro says a 3.7gb video is over 7gb.

VideoStudio :: Chapters Disappear During Burn?

Apr 29, 2013

I recently created a dvd which includes 'chapters'. I 'create Video' (DVD) file then 'create disk' to DVD folders on hard disk and then use Ashampoo to burn to DVD.

My 'Create Disk' has two menus, the top menu for the 'only' Video file and then the next menu which includes 2 chapters. When I do a 'Preview' BOTH menus appear (I click on the small window of the top which shows 30 seconds of the video file and then the second menu appears with my 2 'chapters which also have small windows displaying 30 seconds of the relevant part of the video file).

ALSO in the 'currently displayed menu I have 3 menus in the drop down - 'Main Menu', '2012 trip', and Main Menu: Note Menu (where this came from). So it all looks good as I expect. HOWEVER the resulting DVD NEVER displayed the second menu.

VideoStudio :: X2 Won't Burn Dual Layer DVD?

Jan 12, 2012

I've been having a problem trying to burn a project with three movies onto a DL DVD.

The three mpegs are:

1. 2.88GB (1:05:00)
2. 2.73GB (1:01:47)
3. 2.86GB (1:04:41)

Settings are:

24 bits, 720 x 480, 29.97 fps
Upper Field First
(DVD-NTSC), 4:3
Video data rate: Variable (Max. 8000 kbps)
Audio data rate: 256 kbps
Dolby Digital Audio. 48 KHz, 2/0(L,R)

I realize that I have a red area over the size limit for 8.5GB disk, but I've burned single layer disks with slightly higher size and the program compresses it to fit. But with this dual layer project, the burn process goes up to 97% and freezes. I've also only created and ISO file of the project, but, using ImageBurn, I find that the ISO file doesn't have the proper configuration to split the layers correctly. It tells me: "Optimal L1 Data Zone Start LBA: None Found! (VTS_01) This image has not been mastered correctly for burning onto a double layer (OTP Track Path) disc. None of the cells meet the 'DVD-Video specification' criteria for a potential layer break position."

Is there something I'm supposed to do first? Is there a step or two that I'm missing? Or does VSX2 have a problem burning DL DVDs?

I also realize that VSX2 was not designed for Windows 7, but I figured the ProPatch and Windows 7 updates were supposed to make VSX2 work on Windows 7.

VideoStudio :: Project Is Too Large To Burn?

Nov 10, 2013

First time trying to edit digital movie shot on my Sony Bloggie. BTW: I used to be a TV new photog back in the day of Bolex 16mm and Auricon SOF...so I'm only experienced with; a Fearless Houston film processor, masking tape (to hang up the clips); cement and a slicer to join the clips; a film cleaner and pad to clean the edited footage.

Having made my excuses, this is my problem: I shot 1:58min , 720HD MP4 which I've edited down to 1:38 running time. Corel Studio Pro 6x is telling me 10.83GB are needed and my DVD is just 4.7 GB ready.

First: will the Video Studio 6x convert the final product to either MPEG2 or AVCHD so it will play on my Panasonic BD75 DVD player? They appear to be viable options on Corel x6 but the Adobe Premire Elements 3 I tried to use to burn a disc to didn't like my MP4.

Second: assuming Corel will burn it as MPEG@A or AVCHD, how do I break my completed project into two smaller ones so that I can burn them on two discs, assuming it's impossible to compress them into one disc. The finished file is 4.3 GB so why that won't fit onto a 4.7 DVD is another question.

VideoStudio :: Importing DV Source Into X3?

Jul 14, 2011

just purchased PaintShop Pro X3 and VideoStudio X4. I have a Panasonic camcorder which writes to mini DV tapes and has Firewire output. I previously did my editing using iMovie on an ageing Macbook. My new Windows 7 laptop doesn't have a firewire port therefore I was hopeful of capturing the raw footage on the Mac and then importing it into VideoStudio on the Windows laptop. When I try and import the .dv files created by iMovie I get the error 'File format mismatch'.

The videos play fine on the Windows laptop so I don't understand why VideoStudio can't read them.

I was thinking I could perhaps use something to convert the videos to a format readable by VideoStudio.

VideoStudio :: Pro X5 DVD Burn At 4x Won't Play On Older DVD Players

Jan 1, 2013

I've burned some DVDs with ProX5 on the slowest speed 4x and someone I gave it to says it won't play correctly on his older stand-alone DVD player hooked to his TV. I had originally burned them at 16x so reburned it at 4x. He says it starts to skip and stop about mid way. I am not using dual layer DVDs. He says they play fine on a friend's newer stand-alone DVD player. I'm thinking it's a problem with older stand-alone players.

These DVDs play fine on my computer and my stand-alone DVD player hooked into my TV. My player is newer with Blue Ray although my project is not Blue Ray.

Also one thing I've noticed is when I set the burn speed, burn the DVDs, they complete, then when I go back and check the burn speed again it is not what I set it at. Does this mean ProX5 burns them at whatever speed it wants despite where it's set? I tried seeing the burn speed after the fact thinking I could see it in my Nero11 disc analysis but it does not give me the burn speed.
