VideoStudio :: Chapter Markers Useless Now With DMF 7 SE?
Mar 9, 2011
With VSX3 DVD production done by DMF 7 SE , are chapter markers added in the project timeline useless as we have to redo all chapters when transfered by VSX3 into DMF 7 SE ? or is there a way to have the markers trigger a chapter as before ?
I have created several chapter markers in the video timeline and when I go to share and create a DVD or blu ray disk I see the chapter markers are reflected in the the create chapter menu which is what I would expect. I don't want to create a whole disk but I want to create a video file like mp4 that includes the chapter markers as part of the video file. I believe that the mp4 format supports chapter markers based on this page [URL]
I can't seem to create a video output file that also includes the chapter markers. Is this possible in video studio x4 or am I forced to create a DVD or blu ray disk with a menu structure in order to preserve the chapters in the resultant output?
Re: Adobe Master Suite CS6 and specifically PPro CS6. I am trying to find any information on using my chapter or encore markers in a sequence to create multiple videos using the markers and doing this in Media Encoder. It is a music video I want to split into 22 separate videos based on the start point for each song. It is such a natural thing to want to do this that I would at least have expected to see a comment to the contrary if it is not capable of being done in the manner I am suggesting. I would expect to be able to do a dynamic link to the sequence and be able to split the file in a fashion similar to Encore which imports the sequence as a series of chapter points I then use to create my DVD.
I am pulling myhair out here HAve just purchased X5 and having fun playing with it BUT I cannot figure out how to put a title on a chapter. If I add a chapter it will come up with the thumbnail and the time under it But unlike the earlier versions where you could simple change the title and thumbnail to what you want X5 seems to have hidden this feature very well.
Is there a way to preserve chapter markings when you output to an MP4? I output from VideoStudio Pro X4 to MPEG-4/iPhone H.264 (640 X 480) and the chapters disappear. I'd also like to have a title page, too, but I don't know how to do that either.
In Menu Templater, you can have a main menu with different chapter, you can edit the background image and music for the Main Menu!
Questions:
1. Can I edit the background image and the music for the chapter page?
2. Can I edit the name of the chapter? I try to edit from the movie, double click the mark and type in new names, but when output, the name is different!
Wondering if it is possible to change the default Frame that is used for displaying thumbnail chapters when I create my Menu for Blu-ray authoring The existing Frame that has the Polaroid /postcard look with a paperclip, etc
When I add chapter and Cue points to a project, say for example at the beginning of a specific clip in the middle of the project, just as soon as I delete or add another clip anywhere in the timeline before that clip, the chapter and Cue points become obsolete as they do not move with the clip that they were assigned to and now mark some unintended place within the project.
Every time this happens, I have to go in and manually move all chapter/Cue points. Is there any way to set chapter and Cue points be be relative within a clip, thus allowing them to move automatically and not need to be manually reset every time clips are added to or deleted from the project?
I want to make a DVD with three (or more) short movie clips (Chapters?? Titles ??) which can be played individually, or from start to finish. I want a menu with a structure something like: Main Page with two buttons - Button 1 to play the whole movie (ie starting with clip 1 and then 2 and 3 until the end), and Button 2 which will take me to a new menu page where I can select individual clips, This page will have one button per clip, and if I select Clip 2 I want Clip 2 to play and then return to the menu (preferably menu page 2) without going on to play Clip3, 4 etc.
At present I am using the trial version of Video Studio to try it out before committing myself to a purchase, but I cannot access a user guide (which I understand only comes with the full version). Therefore I cannot find out how to construct such a menu system, or indeed even find out if such is possible with this product.
Does Video Studio (any version) allow a Menu structure as I have described and if so how can I do it?
Although I have been using x12 for some time I have never created a chapter menu before.
Even though I select "select a background image for all menus" when I do a 'preview' then select the video to play the background image remains displayed briefly and then the chapter menu fades in with a light blue background (not the background image I selected for all menus).
Is it possible to set the background for the 'chapter menu' and if so how? Also how can I CHANGE the displayed "chapter 1", "chapter 2" etc to something more meaningful?
I did my project (.vsp) and marked a dozen chapter points. I then selected Share tab , Create Disc, Bluray (1920x 1440), added 2 other projects (.vsp), created my main menu (BD authoring), then burned into BMDV folders (to correct before burning to disc) . I then created an image file (with ImgBurn) to keep for future copies. When I play my image file (PowerDVD9), I have my main menu, start the movie, plays fine, but no "next chapter" to jump to (always come back to the beginning of the movie. Are chapter points recognized and activated in Bluray ?
I have successfully created a production and defined 34 chapters (and names), but when I proceed to the step of creating the menu for my DVD the menu only lists the chapters as "Chapter 1", "Chapter 2", etc. all the way to Chapter 34. I expected the chapter names from the production to be carried forward into the DVD burning stage, but apparently not. How can I edit the text for the chapter names in the DVD menu?
Is it possible to remove certain chapters from the chapter menu without completely deleting them from the timeline if I don’t want all chapter points to be displayed in the menu? Or do all chapter points have to be displayed in the menu?
And is it possible to delete objects from the menu templates, or are the templates fixed?
When creating a menu for a DVD, the first chapter defaults to 00:00:00:00, the beginning of the DVD. I don't want to have that be the first chapter. I want to either remove that chapter or change the time location.
The option to remove the chapter is grayed out and I cannot find a way to change the time say 00:00:10:00 for example. How can I change the time or delete the 00:00:00:00 chapter?
I have a trial version of Video Studio X5 and I am trying to decide if I want to buy it. I am very interested in making DVDs from family video clips.
I guess I am a bit confused about making menus w/ chapter links. I successfully used the "Edit" tab to make a nice movie w/ transitions and chapters. The "Add/Remove Chapter Point" button seems to work just fine, w/ little green triangles on my timeline. However, when I go to make a DVD via the "Share" tab, it seems like the clips are still present on the bottom of the screen, but the program has forgotten all my chapter markings. I see that I can "Add/Edit Chapter" if I want (under "Edit media:") but I just want to use the chapter settings I created when I was on the Edit tab. I found a bunch of tutorial videos and they all seem to involve adding chapters at this point (under "Share" but not under "Edit").
Related question, I am pretty sure I should be able to do the following but not positive Can I create a simple menu that has a user-specified number of chapter links on it? I just want a simple background photo w/ still-thumbnails as links to my chapters.
Am creating chapters in edit mode and adding chapter names. When I go to create mode I can find no-way to automatically populate the DVD menu with the pre-inputted names i created in edit mode. Assume this must be possible.
When I create a home movie and add chapter points through the edit mode, and then go to burn a DVD, the Chapter points that I created in the edit mode are not showing up in the Corel DVD Factory burning software.
I can re-add the chapter, but why would the chapters that I just added, not show up? What is the point of having the options to add chapters in the edit mode, if this information was not transferrable to the burning process?
I'm using VS X4 (I know - I'm behind the times!) and I am wanting to burn a DVD of a clip that has more than four chapters.
I the 'Menu and Preview' section I am offered a Main Menu and additional Chapter Menu which has up to four chapters on it. They are faily basic affairs. I have changed the background to have the same static picture and the same title 'Cornwall 2013'.
The Main Menu simply has a play button only along with a link called 'Scene Selection...' which takes the viewer to the Chapter Menu screen. The Chapter Menu has the four relevant chapters that can be selected along with the standard navigation buttons.
The problem is that in the Menu and Preview section it only allows me to edit the first page of the Chapter menu screen ( as I say I have more than four chapters so there are several screens).
The problem is when I go to preview, the second page of the Chater Menu instead of having 'Cornwall 2013' has the clip name displayed instead (which initially was 'Unknown' until I renamed it.
I also want to give the Chapters 'proper' names, but I don't know how to access the Chapters after number 4. I cannot seem to rename them in the add/edit chapter section either? I can only sem to change the first four chapter names as that is all I am offered.
When I choose a DVD-menu the default chapter names are "chapter01" to chapter99" where 99 is the last chapter number. I do use the German language version. The it is "Kapitel01" to "Kapitel99".
I do not want to have the word "Kapitel" in each line of the menu. I only want to have the chapter number. "01" to "99". Not the short numbers which count from 1 again on each page of the menu.
Is it possible to change the text "Kapitel" to blank or to delet the text to get only the chapter numbers als default chapter names? Can I configure it manual in any configuration file. I think that the word "Kapitel" comes from a German language file? Can I change it to blank there?
How do you add markers on the timeline? Also, can I add markers to individual clips so I can line them up? Example, have a beat to a music lined up, and on a video I got something I want to align with the beat, can I place a marker on the audio and another on the video?
I use another NLE and VSP X6U. One thing that I would like is timeline markers. Why? I do quite a few videos where the transitions have to be on the beat of the music. I do this with timeline markers that are placed on the 'beat' of the music. I can then move the in and out points of a video or image and it will "snap" to the position of the marker.
Also, I can label these markers, so I can use them to "remind" me of what I want to do between them.
I have used earlier versions of VS in the past with virtually no issues , last version wbeing VS11 Plus. I recently "Upgraded" to VS Pro X2 and am trying to burn my first project with it. During the share stage, trying to make a DVD I get the message "Some chapter entry frame numbers exceed the total frames" and NO I did not edit the project after adding the chapters in the share stage. Seems from google searches that this is an old issue for which Ulead issued a patch in earlier versions, but it is back! One post suggested creating a video file of the whole project then importing that without creating a new project then sharing it and adding chapters.
I tried that and found that the audio for the second half of the project got dropped. If you press Info on the DVD player it displays Dolby 3/2 on the TV screen, but the AVamp shows no Blue Dolby multichannel light and detects no audio streams available. This dropping of audio occurs at a transition between two clips in the original project. The "missing" audio is present in the mpeg file created, and you can hear it if you play the file in the "Edit" tab. It simply does not get carried over to the disc burn. I tried twice. ANyway, that is a secondary issue and I'm not too bothered about that. I would much rather get a fix for the Chapter frame numbers issue and thus avoid the video file creation process.
I have tried taking a few frames out of each clip and re-rendering the whole project again to no avail. I have also tried deselecting two pass conversion.
This is regarding a error message by Video Studio Pro X5 understanding a fault message which I got after creating a DVD map. This is the original message in Dutch: "Sommige startframenummers van hoofdstukken zijn groter dan het aantal frames". 533:-2147216477:0 Translation: "Some start frame numbers of chapters are greater than the number of frames"
This was also discussed here - but I can not understand the solution: viewtopic.php?t=24055&p=120629
The situation: I have all the same video files (H.264, 24 bits, 25.000 f/s) [worked with this kind of files a couple times and worked alway very well] I have added some tekst and pictures. Total length of video is 01:50 hour. Starting the procedure DVD creating, with burning the DVD folders on my harddisc. Afther the burning proces I got the fault message.
After creating the DVD map I got the fault message (as describbed above) and found on my harddisc the VIDEO_TS folder with 5 files VTS_01_1 till VTS_01_5. The total time of these loose files is ca. 76 minutes. So I missed a hughe chunk. I got the same fault message when I have created chapters within the videofile but also when I created chapters later at the video menu.
When I do not burning a DVD folder but select creating a video file (DVD-video) than I get separated end files instead of just one big file. Maybe this has the same cause?
I am evaluating Video Prox5,and wanted to know if it nis possible to place cue markers on Audio track as an aid to sync particular points of video and Audio.
In previous versions of Photoshop it was possible to recognize adjustment layers by their thumbnails, in CS4 that has been removed except for gradients, patterns and solid color.
I find that a wrong move. Thumbnails are handy, they allow you to quickly see where you've used your different adj. layers (useful if you've a big fan of non-destructive editign like me). The only thing that is left is the names, but
a) names don't view as fast as icons
b) it basically limits you of using names, because once you do, you have no clue what the layer is unless you click on it
why remove the different icons and turn it one and the same?
I normally work with a Macbook connected to a 23" Cine display. Pulled the Macbook off the display, opened Photoshop, and the bottom of all the action panels (actions, layers, channels, etc...) are below the lower edge of the screen and there appears to be no way to recover them.
The program is essentially useless until I can get connected to a big display, simply to click on the bottom of these panels. What's the secret to resizing these?
Usually when I run a script. I am automating a process. When doing this, I want to perform other tasks on my computer. Problem beeing. When Autocad is running a script. It opens a file, runs some commands. Then when completed. It opens another file. It seems when it opens each file, it takes control of the cursor for 1 second. The cursor blips for a second.
i.e.
I run a script in ACAd. Minimize ACAd. Open a Word document. And start typing. When ACAD opens a new file. The cursor is pulled away from Word. So I have to click on Word with the mouse again. Then start typeing. Basically you can type a few charachters, before the cursor is pulled away from word or any other applications. And results in my computer work station useless for multitasking until the script is done. Makes Multitasking non existent. My current project I will be running many scripts, and printing many ACAd documents. Therfore I would like to run these tasks in the back ground, while performing other tasks in a new session of ACAD or other applications.

I still have lightroom 3 wich works great but a couple of weeks ago I got a problem with the spot removal tool. Short explanation, it's not the same.I don'd know what I did but I dont have the regular spot removel tool.WHen I shoot the spot removal tool the cursor dissapear when I get over the picture like it hides behind the image. When I click I get a very tiny circle and when I drag it makes an arrow. WHat is up with that?
I am using the Sheet Set manager to just publish my drawings to the named plotter (Adobe PDF). I an NOT using any fields. I do not have any sheet numbers assigned in the sheet set. Each drawing is a separate file with only one layout tab in each file. On each drawing, the sheet title and drawing number are within an attributed block, with the drawing number in an attribute with a tag of SHEETNO. Everything is in RomanS. Single sheets plot fine. This is the only sheet set.
The problem is that the sheet number are altered when I use Sheet Set Publish to make a multi-sheet PDF. The manually inserted plain-text sheet numbers are all in the format X#.# (A1.1, A2.3, etc.). Two things happen:
1. The number after the period is printed in a different font on all sheets (NOT RomanS - the ends of the stroke are square) .
2. Over half the numbers are changed (the first sheet, the cover, is blank and not changed):
I have an ID-book made out of 10 InDesign documents. Everything is fine, but one thing.
One of the chapters (#4) is made out of two ID documents: "chapter4a.indd“ and "chapter4b.indd". The chapter number, which is automatically given by the book, is correct: 4. But the numbering of the next below level (4.x) is wrong. In the file „chapter4a.indd“ I have the sub-chapters 4.1, 4.2 and 4.3. But in the „chapter4b.indd“ it starts yet again with 4.1 instead of 4.4.
Where is the mistake?
Merging the two ID files "chapter4a.indd“ and "chapter4b.indd" into one is not an option, unfortunately.
Is it possible to let the sublevel chapter number (4.x) continue after the ID-document change or does it start always at ".1" once again because it's in a new document?
