I am working in Photoshop CS5 and I have a question about Smart Objects. I shot a bunch of pictures in HDR-setting (low light, good light, over light) and created a comp with 1 image in a smart object. But the thing is; the pictures are shot in portrait. And everytime I recplace the content of the Smart Object it rotates and scales the image.
Â
Still got like 500 images to go and this is frustrating..
I have a photo template with a few smart object. The templated works fines when i perform a "replace content" command. I was trying to automated this with an action, however the action just places the same photo when i point it to a folder with many images. Is there method of having the action cycle through the images?
I updated my software from Elements 7 to 11 some weeks ago but I'm still not happy with the structure of my new Organizer. I'm a planespotter which means something like collecting photos of different aircrafts and airlines like post stamps. In PSE 7 I used the tag- and category-tool for organizing these photos by airport. This part works in PSE 11 as well. But I also used to create one 'Smart-Album' for each airline I've ever seen. The big advantage was that I had to create such an album for just one time and every photo I ever named e.g. "Lufthansa" was automatically sorted into the corresponding smart-album. So I had a list that showed all airlines I've taken at least one photo of.
I know that Adobe replaced the smart-albums in PSE 11 by the 'saved searches'. But I don't like this tool, it's not what I'm looking for. I want a visible list of my airlines and it should be created more or less intuitively/automatically, to have not more to do manually than before (efficiency and clarity is very important to me thinking of 5000+ photos and 300+ airlines).  So my questions would be:
1. Is there any possibility to manage it the way I described above in PSE 11? 2. If not, anything that could be suitable for my requirements?
1. Is there a way for masking each smart filter separately on a single smart object other than nesting one smart object into the another? 2. Is there a way for removing the previously created smart object?
I mean ... let's say I have a smart object containing four layers. Can I remove smart object from these layers?
I'm running photoshop cs3. I created two different smart objects. Within each of those smart objects, I want to include another smart object. However, when I update the embedded smart object, only the partent SO is updated, the other SO seems to have a different child. here is the setup visually: canvas -> SO1 -> SO3canvas -> SO2 -> SO3 so when I update SO3 from within SO1, only SO1 is updated - SO2 stays the same.
I've done a (hopefully) fairly exhaustive search, and don't see anything on how to use these things together...  Open an image as a smart object. Add a layer for cloning and healing. Maybe add a curves adjustment layer and/or a hue/sat adjustment layer. Adjust things as needed.  Decide you want to extend the background on one side. Increase the canvas on that side. Select the chunk of canvas. What process should be used to employ the content-aware fill for that new piece of canvas? I don't seem to be able to have the smart object layer selected. If I have another layer selected the fill fails saying there aren't enough opaque (?) pixels.
Ps CS6 OSX 10.6.8  Problem: Transform applied to Smart Object fails to transform an attached Smart Filters Mask.  I mean a Transform, including Free Transform, as found in the Edit menu. A simple move by the Move Tool is OK.  A workaround until this bug is squashed is to encapsulate the Smart Object + Smart Filters + Filter Mask inside another Smart Object and transform that. However, that will not be a satisfactory solution in some cases. If a filter has size parameter(s), e.g. Gaussian Blur radius, a scaling or warping/distorting transform applied after the filter will obviously differ from the filter applied after the transform.  In any case, the workaround is inconvenient to subsequent editing and experimenting with filters and masks.
(Photoshop CS5.1) A file contains 3 instances each of 2 unique Smart Objects. Is it possible to Replace Contents of all 6 objects so that they share a common source content?Seems simple. Doesn't work.
I render 3d object from raster and smart object (extrusion) Each time i do the edge where the extrusion meets the front inflation material is slightly distorted. Should be a smooth line.
i noticed importing an image file from adobe illustrator into photoshop through copy and paste. but i dont have illustrator on my pc. is there a way to turn a layer or an image into a smart object without using the bridge feature they have now in CS2?
in cs2, i use smart object lot to replace image i mean i have to make collection of gallery of let's say mp3 albums so i have to put albums covers in my designs but exactly as i wanted in size {no matter whatever size/resolution the source (album cover) are} so smart objects always be the easiest way cos i firstly draw rectangulers in my custum size, and i covert each rectangulers to smart objects and replace every smart objects to place those albums covers. it's easiest way and since cs3 is launched, when i try to replace image of smart objects my replaced image(album cover) wont be as equal as my custum rectanguler size. this is my prob. when i place the images either they are placed bigger size than the size of smart object or smaller than smart object . can is there any process to make as shame size as smart object while placing images to smart object??? in cs2 it's possible but cs3 cs4 can't do such smart object or i'm a missing any new technique to do that? ya we can resize each placed covers to our custom size but it takes hell long time . i need shortcut way. wel in cs2 i been doin things like this using smart object which takes only 2 min to put images in my custom sized rectangular
I am trying to open a RAW photo in Photoshop CS5 as a Smart Object. I have the photo selected in Bridge. When I go to execute File>Place in Bridge CS5 the menu entry indicates there should be a menu displayed. However, clicking on Place does not bring up a menu.  In Photoshop there is open a blank file to receive the photo. Why do I not receive a menu?
I'm having aliasing issue with my smart objects in CS6 I never had before. I've searched all over PS and these forums to try and figure out how to get rid of the jaggies, with no luck. Below is a screenshot example of a SO with the aliasing (I'm trying to reconstruct a dresser top).
I have a smart object, and, If I apply Control "J" Â Â Or Drag It to the New Layer Icon, It will Duplicate the Layer. And If I Go to Layer-Smart Objects- New Object Via Copy, It dose the same thing. What Is the Different between Control J, or Go to Layer- Smart Objects- New Smart Object Via Copy.
Often after making vectro pictures in illustrator i use exporting to Photoshop like a SO. But i can't realize, why after exporting some elements like a blur or transparent mask is losing?
I working on the Photoshop with Smart Object with link to Illustrator. How can i transform perspective for Smart Object in Photoshop? There are accessible to me only Scale Rotate and Skew, others is gray out.
I was playing around with some images that I changed into Smart Object, and I noticed when you shrink the Images to a very small size, and later Transform It back to a bigger size, the quality dose not change,,Even when I saved them and opened them later on. But It dose not work with saving the Smart Object into JPG.
Is there a way to get Smart Objects to work on a different disc besides your Startup on a Mac? I'd like to set up a stand-alone SSD to handle all Smart Object operations. Currently, I'm getting the "Start-up disc is almost full" warning a little too often. It even crashed PS one time. I know you can change the Scratch Disc very easily, but I don't see any way to change how Smart Objects are handled.
I have a 'base' file A, with two (different) smart objects B and C. Now I want B and C to both contain a third smart object D, and I can't get that to work.
I can place the same file as a smart object in B and C, but it becomes two different smart objects, which are seperately editable. I would like to be able to edit smart object D and the changes to be visible in both B and C and in turn in A. Â Is this at all possible? Btw working in photoshop CS5
I was told to double click the layers window and a new editable window would pop up...but only the FX window pops up. I've also tried the "edit Content" choice but that erases the smart object..
I need a smart object mask, I converted the layer to a smart object, using the mask panel to add a mask, I'm not getting a smart object mask instead a regular layer mask. I searched the adobe documentation.
I have two tabs open: the first one the "parent file" and the second one the "smart object" from a layer of the "parent file". I accidentally "unsmart" the object on the "parent file" and close both tabs... Â Question: Is there a way to recover a closed smart object in photoshop? In photoshop directory?
I'm currently working on a mock up for a product design, a box container to be precise,And I want one smart object layer to cover both the front and the side, so you can seamlessly design the front and side of the box.
Sadly I haven't found a good way to do this, thought i would be able to with warp but I can't get straight corners with it,
When i have a project that contain a lot of the same images i normally create one Smart Object and copy/paste it as many times as i need to. This way when i have to change something i can edit the Smart Object and it will automaticly change all duplicates.  For example i have created a button and i need one that has to be a different width, i can change thewidth of the Smart Object. Only this way it changes all the duplicates too. Let's say i don't want to change my previously made duplicates, i can make a copy of my Smart Object this way it does not effect my previously created buttons. This have the effect that when i need to make some changes, ill need to edit 2 buttons instead of one.
In some of my projects i have 10 different sizes of the same object only the design is left unchanged. When i need to change the color for example i have to edit this 10 imes. You would say 10 times isn't that much. That is correct. But if you made multiple changes to the Smart Object's layers, let's say i changed 4 things. I have to manually change 4 x 10 = 40 things. That could take up some time. Â In my case i need to have different widths of the same object everything else needs to be exactly the same. So in my perfect case i would have one smart object with different widths which i only have to change once's. Â Is there a way to accomplish this?
Since updating to the 13.02 release of photoshop CS6 extended I have noticed the following modified behavior:  When changing the assigned profile of an image containing smart objects, where the smart objects have previously gone through a color profile conversion - the smart objects will get reconverted to the newly assigned profile.  This was certainly not the behavior of 13.01 and previous versions.  Is this an intentional change? If it is shouldn't it be noted in the release notes?  System info: mac os x 10.6.8
SUDDENLY nothing happens with smart object. The history adds a state,"edit contents", but ACR window never opens and now I'm screwed cuz this document has 13 SO's waiting for work. This has happened plenty in the past.  PS CC ACR 8.1... OSX.8.3
i'm trying to mask smart object example i have a box, i want to put the image into box with smart object, cause i want to change image when i want... is there easy and better way to do this?
1. I open an image in Photoshop CS3 from camera raw (CR) as a smart object.2. I right click on the layer and choose "new smart object via copy."3. I double click on the thumb nail to open the image in CR.4. I make new edits on the image in CR.5. I click OK.6. In CS3 both the new layer and the original layer show the edits done in # 4. I uninstalled and reinstalled CS# to no avail.I am running CS3 on a Win Vista 64 bit.
