I need to be able to create text so that the text is transparent and it reveals a collage of photos underneath. The box AROUND the text needs to remain white....so that ONLY the text is transparent. The effect would be that the text would appear to be cut out of the photos behind it.
So in other words, I need to end up with a big white box that has text on top of it. Then the text in that box is transparent and shows photos underneath both layers (including the white)

I'm wanting to create transparent text over a picture with only the outline of the text showing. So basically, I need to only see the stroke of the text and have be picture show thru from behind.

Can I create transparent text in Elements 9? this is for a watermark on photos. According to one source I need to convert the type layer into a regular photoshop image layer by choosing Rasterize Layer from the layers palette, but I cannot find this option. Is there another method?

I want to create a transparent text on a solid color background, and I need text transparency to go all the way to through the image (i.e. do not show the solid color background). I have the transparent background layer, the solid rectangle layer that occupies part of the image, and the text layer (with text element) on the top of the solid rectangle layer. How do I make text transparency to go all the way through? Here is a similar example for Photoshop CS, only in my case, the background layer is transparent (i.e. there is no picture): URL... Basically, I need to make the letters see through, so they show the background color on which the image will be placed. Is it possible to do in Photoshop Elements? I'm using version 9 on Windows 7.

On the image of the slider of my Homepage I want a semi transparent box to appear and then after a few seconds some text will appear on the semi transparent box. The text and the semi transparent text box are on different layers. I found a tutorial on a website and followed the instructions.I created a rectangle with the sizes I need and then:
Colour > Colours to Alpha > Left Click on the pop up box that appeared > Left Click on the Colour to Alpha Colour Picker > Click on the colour I want to make transparent > Export as .png
What I got is indeed a semi transparent foreground text box to place my text on but it is too dark (Pic.01). I would like it to be light semi transparent like in Pic.02 on the right(Avada 3: The Best Yet)
How do I change the transparency level / Opacity of the foreground text box? I changed the Opacity to 50% on my second try but I did not see any visible change.

I'm creating text that will be printed on a deep gray to black tshirt.
I created text, added an offset path to it with a gradient, and a deep gray color fill on top, achieving the gradient stroke. However, I'm not exactly sure what color the shirt itself will be, other than deep gray to black. And I didn't want the deep gray/black fill in my text to appear and look awkward on the shirt. Unless that is something I shouldn't be considered about.
To be safe, how would you create transparent text with a gradient stroke? I'm using Illustrator CS5.

I need to strip my current image of its background color so that the background color on my website goes thru my image. In other words I need a transparent background for my image.
I have create a new layer that is transparent, but the background color on my website does not go thru it. The background color of this image appears to be grayish not transparent.

I recently moved from CS2 to CS4 and here's another basic task I can't do. I could say lots of negative things, instead, just the basics. I have a PSD file with a background layer in one color and a text layer with text in another color. All I want to do is create a GIF which uses the background color for transparency but no matter what I try I only get the background color. This is really discouraging.

To explain this as easy as possible. I want to achieve the following.
Create a shape.Create a letter via a type layer.Creating a clipping mask of the type layer so it appears inside the shape.Make the text layer a transparent shape. So regardless of the background I put it on the letter will always appear as if it is a cut out of the shape.
I want to do all of the above while keeping the shape and the text layer vector objects. I do not know Adobe Illustrator, so this is my only route.

I've been looking at some tutorials lately and some of them say to create a "transparent layer." Is this a special setting for the layer or does this mean that I can just create a layer and set the opacity down a little bit?

I am using Photoshop 8.0. I have a JPEG file of our organization logo. The actual logo is round, but is surrounded by white. I want to make the white part transparent so I can place the logo on other graphics and not have anything but the round part of the logo showing. How can I do that?

I have this icon and I'd like to use it on a website but with interchangeable colors.So, what I'd like to do is create a png file with solid colors simulating the background.And, where the actual icon colors are, use transparency. That way I can specify any color I want in the background and it will filter through!
how I could extract the different alpha transparency information to make the result similar to the pic shown above.I know it's possible as I've followed some tuts but the result isn't exactly the same.

I am wanting to create a Transparent Background for a search button in respect to a form.... I guess one would suggest it's not really a Background since it looks kinda like a sheath covering the default search button that come with all forms..
I have the Adobe Master Suite CS5, so I may have the right tools. I am not much of a Graphics Designers, but I will try. Below is an example of what I am wanting to do, but this Background is black #000000;
I know its small, but it's an example I had found.... I borrowed it as a reference.

I'm tring to create an image using color from transparent to white without any background. I want to use that image in an application where the user select a color and the fadding creates a nice effect with any color (because the image has a color from transparent to white so if the user select blue then image will appear from blue to white and so on). I can't seem able to do that in Photoshop (tried with gif and png). The result gives me a white image whithout any transparancy.

This should be easy -
The end result I want is this:
a png which is mostly black (or any colour) but with a defined shape in it which is transparent.
I have the shape. I select it. I seem to be able to make a mask from this (a selection which I can copy and move about). But what I can't figure out how is how to create a new image which is filled except for this masked area which is transparent

I have used the Magic Wand for a couple of years, taking out backgrounds etc to create transparent GIFs.Now when I use it, the edges of whatever I have cut out are always jagged.
I have anti-aliasing checked at the top, and haven't changed anything that I know of.It seems to get worse when the image is resized and made smaller also.

After all this playing around with making cool backgrounds, I want to create my name in one of them. So what I thought I'd do was create a separate layer, write out "Samantha", and then somehow make the text transparent and then show both layers. However, I can't do it! If I select the text with the magic wand and delete it, that works, except that there are holes in my name (the 3 as!). So, 3 of my letters aren't properly formed that way. I tried to copy the middle of the as to another layer, to change them to white, but I can't do this until I rasterize the text. After doing that, I can't magic wand select it.

when i click to write some text the text is transparent because i cant see it! however it shows up in the layer with writing in. its nothing to do with colour clash. eg. black on black.

Even though text layer opacity is set to 100%, the text is nevertheless displaying at below 100%. Take a look at the three lines of text starting with CUSTOM TROPHY BUCKLES. I want the text to be 100% opaque.

Okay. I don't know how many logo/watermarking videos I've watched but I still don't have what I want. I have a logo but I haven't had any luck getting it into transparent form.
Text is easy, but I want to have my logo beside the text. Any simple instructions. Most videos I've watched don't show how to combine an existing logo to text.

I have a column of graphic / text buttons which are saved as transparent gif's. The idea is that I can change the background image or color to give the site a fresh look without recreating each of the buttons. I would like to make them TRULY transparent but the text always comes out badly pixelated. Is there a way to stop this without using a matte color around the text? I currently save the raw image and change the matting color to match the site theme each time I update it (2x/year)

I'm trying to figure out a way to "knock-out" text from an opaque layer to reveal the background image beneath it. Essentially (I'm guessing), it would have the background image, then an opaque layer, then text.
I need to figure out some way (using masking?) to have the text be on the opaque layer and then knock it out like a die-cut so that it creates a hole in the opaque layer (where the text was) and ends up revealing the background layer beneath.

I am fairly new to PSE and I want to create an oval vignette in Photoshop Elements 10 with transparent background for printing on white paper using MS Publisher. Using the white background on inverse selection makes a slight line impression and either it should have a defined "frame" or nothing.

I wanted to create transparent icon.i created it and i can see black&ash rectangles around the image, this confirm that as a transparent image.But after exporting it to jpg or png White color background is coming when i see it in photo viewer.

I want the Intro screen in a Slideshow to contain some background or introductory text. The Intro screen may be customized by editing the identity plate, but only to provide text on one line - not very useful. The Intro screen consists of the Identity Plate against the background created jointly with the Backdrop controls.
So, I thought this would be easily solved by creating a 'photo' in PS, with the text I require on a transparent background. Then import as another slide. Easy Peasy.
No, not quite, as Saving As... in PS as JPG does not work, TIF offers to save transparency but LR does not honour the promise. I tried GIF, but LR doesn't even 'see' GIFs.
I am sure that Adobe, in the 4.1-th generation of LR, will not have made this impossible....
