All of a sudden Photoshop stopped working out of the blue. It was working one minute, then an hour later I went to use it again and it wouldn't work - I hadn't installed / uninstalled any software/drivers in that time, nor had I made any changes to any system settings. When I click on the shortcut to run Photoshop, literally nothing happens. I thought maybe doing a fresh install would work, so I tried to uninstall it, but clicking on it in Add or Remove Programs does literally nothing either. There are no error messages, nor does anything appear on screen - literally nothing happens when I either try to run the program or uninstall it.
I downloaded the Adobe Creative Suite Cleaner Tool and tried that, and while it runs fine, running it has no effect at all on my Photoshop installation and all of the files, folders and registry entries are still there.
I'm running Windows 7 64 bit. How can I get Photoshop completely off my system without formatting my drive and doing a fresh install?
Currently I am running PhotoShop extended CS5, 64bit. in which i have my fovorite plugins (Topaz, Nik and OneOne) running perfectly.
I have upgraded to Adobe Creative Cloud and installed PhotoShop extended CS6 using Adobe Application Manager as recommended. It didn't ask me if I wanted to upgrade or do a new install for PhotoShop. So now I CS6 running with no Plug-ins. I need my plugins! LOL.
I tried pointing to additional plugins in the CS6 preference to the CS5 plugin folder. Upon Launch it gave me a whole slew of error messages saying something cant load or launch C+ runtime error or what not. It does open up, but it only gives access to Nik and Topaz. OnOne doesn't show up under filters or extensions.
So, what are my options?
Just copy the plugins from CS5 to CS6?
I dont't want to reinstall all the plugins to CS6 if I don't have to as I've auto updated them over time to current versions online, so only have installation files for my original purchases.
I'm happy with the NX version, but if I want to upgrade to XT, how do I do it? I looked on the upgrade options for XT and upgrading from NX, is not there.
I have recently switched from the Creative Cloud subscription to the Photoshop/Lightroom CC program because I didn't use any of the other apps (so why pay for them).
I am having issues with PS and tried to uninstall it from my iMac in the manner I know to uninstall programs and can't seem to get it done.
I need to uninstall so I can download another version to be able to use it.
i had a trial of cs6 installed on my computer decided not to go with it going with another one now it wont uninstall. It shows up in uninstall and when i click on it to uninstall it says Uninstall Failed Your Uninstall encountered errors. I have ran the cleaner tool and it did nothing didnt pick it up? how do i get this off so i can get the one i want?
I see tons of negative feedback on CS4 - is this typical of this forum or is this a program that's not ready to be hatched so to speak. I just shelled out a fortune to purchase CS 3.3 (CS Web Premium).
I also see that several people have had trouble uninstalling these trials so I'm reluctant to even find out for myself. I had the same problem trying to evaluate CS3 in that it wouldn't install completely and wouldn't remove at all. FORMAT is a dirty word in this house.
My daughter thought she would help me get rid of unused installed software on my computer so she uninstalled CS2. However, she didn't select the option of uninstalling so it could be reinstalled again.
I want to Uninstall Adobe Photoshop Cs and ImageReady CS from my computer, but its not letting me. I go to Add/Remove programs under control panel (Windows XP Service PAck 2) and this error Pops up.. --And im going to type it exactly how it came to me...
Adobe Photoshop Cs and ImageReady CS
>SetupDLLSetupDLL.cpp (443) PAPP:Adobe Photoshop CS and ImageReady CS PVENDOR:Adobe(http://www.adobe.com) PGUID:EFB21DE7-8C19-4A88-BB28-A766E1 6493BC $7.1.100.1248 @Windows XP Service Pack 2 (2600) IE 7.0.6000.16574
I'm trying to uninstall PS CC - I am using the trial and do not wish to continue. However when I follow Adobe's guide and uninstall in Applications I get this message: “Uninstall Adobe Photoshop CC” is used by Mac OS X and can’t be opened".
I just purchased CS6 and installed it -- everything works. But I also have CS5 -- Windows 7 Professional 64-bit -- How do I install CS5? CS5 does not appear in the Control Panel "Programs" listing. Is there an "uninstaller" somewhere?
I checked the FAQs and found general instructions which presume there is an entry in W7 Programs & Features. There is no entry in my system, and I found no Uninstall app in any Adobe CS6 folder.
Working with a friend revamp his computer. He has PSCS versions 3,4,5 and 6 installed on different hard drives. What is the best way to uninstall everything and reinstall his CS6 on his C drive?
Resetting the preferences stopped Photoshop from crashing, but now I need the flash plugin. Can I get that w/o reinstalling CS3?If not, do I have to uninstall the whole suite before reinstallation?
I uninstalled all of my PS Plugins; then uninstalled CS-5 (Win-7/64bit), with Win-7 "Programs and Features" Uninstall utility,& all "stated" Successful.
When checking Program Files / ADOBE, there's still a folder labeled Adobe Photoshop CS5 (64 bit), and consists of 58 MB of what appear to be various Plugin "data"
Since I've uninstalled all of the plugins, & plan to reinstall them from scratch, I'm temped to Delete the folder------ Just not sure why the Uninstall didn't remove it?
I just upgraded to PS CS4 and want to remove PS CS3. Since I downloaded them both I have no install/uninstall disk. Can I safely use Windows XP's "add remove" program from the control panel?
I've given up on CS4 and wanted to try CS3. I still have a few days left on my trial with CS4. Do I Have to uninstall it before installing CS3? I'm hoping I'll have better luck with it.
CS3 began to operate strangely (eg multiple unrequested Help windows, customized Colour Settings not sticking) so I decided to reinstall CS3.
First I deactivated CS3 (standalone, not part of a suite) then I tried to uninstall it. Using (Vista's) Program/Features I started the uninstall process - this began ok but stopped with the message:
"Summary
Errors: 2 components: X Adobe photoshop CS3 Component removal failed
X Shared components Component removal failed"
Then I tried to Reinstall the program (also from the Program/Features function) hoping that this would lead to a successful removal. But this led to exactly the same message after a few steps.
So - I cannot remove the program and cannot reinstall it.
Have searched this forum and Googled for an anwser without success. Grateful for any light in my darkness.
I have CS3 installed (upgraded) on my machine and decided to reclaim some hard disk by uninstalling CS2. When I started that process I got the dialog about needing to transfer the registration if CS2 was to be installed on another PC. I hadn't thought about it, but it would be nice to put the old CS2 on my laptop so I would have it to work with when away from the desktop machine. That dialog stopped me cold though, because the last thing I need is to inadvertently deactivate my CS3 install by accepting this transfer.
Does anyone know for certain whether it would or would not effect my CS3 to perform the registration transfer step when uninstalling CS2?
using CS3 I am told by photoshop today" You cannot use, you must uninstall and reinstall before using. It does not mention a license issue as I have seen in many post..do I really have to do the reinstall?
I installed CS4, and then successfully uninstalled CS3 (both versions as full Creative Suites). I realized, though, that I hadn't saved the actions I had created in PS CS3, so I reinstalled PS CS3 (and found the PS CS3 Actions Palette.psp file, which had my custom actions, from a backup I had made). I exported the custom actions to .atn files, and then imported them into CS4. So far, so good. But..
Now I can't uninstall CS3! It doesn't show up in my "Add or Remove Programs" dialog (either as the full Creative Suite, or as the individual component programs). I suppose I might be able to solve this by completely uninstalling CS4, which would leave only PS CS3 (and a few other of the CS3 programs, which were also reinstalled) -- and then maybe it would show up in Add or Remove Programs.
(And then I could -- I hope -- uninstall CS3, and reinstall CS4.) But if someone has a simpler solution, I'd greatly appreciate hearing it! To summarize the key actions, here's what I did:- Already had Creative Suite CS3 installed- Installed Creative Suite CS4- Uninstalled Creative Suite CS3- Reinstalled PS CS3 and a couple other CS3 programs- Exported some files I needed from CS3, and imported them into CS4- Now I can't uninstall CS3.
I notice that CS 2 on my computer is a very large size (219 MB) as compared to CS 3(38 MB). i am trying to clean up my computer and want to uninstall CS 2 but with those size differences it looks like CS 3 must use CS 2 a basis.
After I got CS4 installed and working ok, I tried to uninstall CS3. A dialog window showed two components that could be uninstalled; CS3 and Shared components. Both were checked and grayed out so that I could not uncheck Shared components. How can I uninstall CS3?
I recently installed CS4 upgrade on my laptop and would now like to uninstall the version of CS2 that I have been using. Will removing CS2 remove any shared files that are necessary for CS4 to work properly? The reason for removing CS2 is that I am quickly running out of available disk space on drive C.As a side question, is it possible to delete CS4 from my laptop and re-install it on my D drive (how wil that affect my activation?)
I am using XP Pro (SP3). I deactivated PSCS4 then went to the add remove app from Windows. I see PSCS3 which is still installed, but no PSCS4. What now?
I've tried every proposed solution I could find, including the regsvr32 jscript.dll thing, running in XP SP2 mode (I'm in Vista), running in admin mode, running at the C: root, and putting the install files in an .iso, mounting it in a disk emulator, but I just can't uninstall or reinstall the Photoshop CS3 demo I installed a few days ago (which won't work at all - something about a "catastrophic installation failure" or somesuch). In all my experience with hundreds of different pieces of software, I've never encountered such a complete and total failure to work - and this from Adobe no less...
