View 10 RepliesWhen i back-up the catalogue, i assumed the backup would be mede of al the tags added to photo's. When i check the catalogue-files, i see a whole lot of jpg-files. My actual photo-collection contains jpg-, raw an avi-files.
I have a habit of making a copy of all my photofiles, but now it seems double
Question: Does de backup-function of photoshop elements 11 actually make a backup of tags and photo's?
hiya! so my master media library is running off a 1 tb outboard drive to lightroom and i have a 2 tb outboard drive as a master backup, i drag new media over to the drive through finder on a mac- will this be able to connect to lightroom's catalog in case of the primary drives eventual failure? is there a better way?

It's probably stored in a file.
I've dowloaded PS CS4 upgrade to my CS and installed the raw files converter etc and it works like a charm.. I'm suddenly aware that my cd that I've burned to back up (adobe suggested I make a cd) won't open the program in my other computer, and opens it very very slowly and clunkily in my laptop, where the dowloaded program resides...

I am currently using Windows XP and will be importing them in to Windows 7.

When I try to backup my catalog to DVD it appears like it is working then a box opens with "Elements Organizer" at the top. At the bottom it says, "Disk Creation by Sonic Solutions" and in the middle there it says "Writing Disc" with a progress bar under it. This displays for a while but the progress bar never goes above 0%.
After a while (like 5 minutes) a Windows Error message appears that says "Elements 12 Organizer has stopped working. A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available"
There is no other error information displayed that indicates what the error is however I went to the Windows Event Viewer and found the following Event:

I've used PSE 10 for some time, but only backup about twice a year (full backups to both external drive and dvds stored offsite). It won't let me backup to my K drive (external), doesn't even start before stating that it has encountered an error writing the file. The external drive works fine; just backed up using Windows BU. I've repaired, optimized, and reconnected files to no avail.
View 3 Replies View RelatedBackup PSE 10 catalog on laptop and restore it to desktop.
PSE 10 backup of 60K photos failed to backup 4K photos, many .tif and some .jpg. Reconnected, repaired, repaired anyway & optomized all successfully prior to backup. Also did same after backup & restoration and all steps were successful except Reconnect was not. Refuses to reconnect missing files, so have manually found (by scrolling through the catalog) and connected 2.5K photos. Remaining unconnected photos can only be located one at a time by clicking on Reconnect, which results in a total count of the number missing and then PSE 10 tries to locate just one and when doesn't find it, the PSE 10 closes. Has taken weeks to reach this point by scrolling 60K photos so remaining, some of which are in stacks, by letting PSER 10 try to Reconnect each photo one at a time and close is a tremendous waste of one life!
The backup sequence freezes up when calculating the stotal media size of the file. It freezes up at 32%. This also happened with Elements 10.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have purchased Adobe Creative Suite CS6 for Windows and am using it on my desktop and notebook computer. This is the maximum number of computers I'm allowed to use it on. Since the software has an activation and deactivation feature and requires an internet connection, I assume that an activation on a third computer would not be possible. So I really have to make sure that I don't lose any of the two systems because I'd also lose one activation with it. (Or I'd need to mess with the support which I'm trying to avoid.)
Today I've noticed that my notebook shows strange error messages. Applications were missing or would not start due to wrong reasons (not compatible with x64, although this was specificly the x64 version, and it's always worked fine). I ran a chkdsk and it fixed tons or filesystem errors. Now other programs are missing and I can't even install any new ones... Unfortunately I noticed the error while trying to perform a Windows system backup. That stupid thing deleted the old version and messed up the new one. So I haven't got any right now. There's also no system restore points, so I can only reinstall the system.
What files or registry keys do I need to copy to a safe location to backup Adobe's software activation on my computer? Would it be possible to restore such a backup on the very same hardware (maybe another disk drive in case the previous one died) but with a freshly installed Windows (same version)? I've learned several times that I cannot rely on a complete system image backup. The only backups that have ever worked 100% reliably for me were those where I copied files to a known location in a known format. But that doesn't include the activation I guess. I'd like to know where it is located so that I can perform a decent backup of it.

Don't worry, no user data is lost, but I'm kind of lucky that Photoshop still started and I could deactivate it before that wouldn't work anymore as well. (Computer systems often die slowly...)

I have CS3 and finally I can update to CS6. I have this plugins
AV Bros Puzzle Pro 3.0
L'amico Perry - Luce
Nik Software (Color Efect Pro 3.0 Complete - Dfine 2.0 - Sharpener Pro 3.0 - Silver Efex Pro - Viveza)
Redfield (arround 15)
Topaz Labs (Adjust - Clean - DeNoise - Detail - Remask - Simplify)
I have a problem with CS3 since many time ago[URL]...But I have one question: If I backup the folder plugins, I really can use it with CS6 before I install it?
I know this isn't specifically photoshop, but I wasn't sure where to post it! Apologies if it's in the wrong place. We're looking for file synchronization software to replace our current backup software. Does anyone have any recommendations?
Our current backup software (WinBackUp) is great, but we're backing up 60gb of current files at a time, so the file sizes for a wrapped up backup file are too big for comfort. It would also be easier to have access to exact copies, instead of having to unwrap a backup. CD backups are made separately, so the sync software is just to backup to our 3rd backup drive. A RAID setup is being discounted for now, as we just want it backing up overnight.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am running Photoshop Elements 5.0 on Windows 7. The back-up feature no longer functional. My last full back-up was a year ago. When I try to perform an incremental back-up, it hangs (Not Responding) and I have to close the program. With over 34,000 photos, I am concerned about continuing to use the program to manage my photos. I am hesitant to upgrade to 11 with all the problems I am having with 5.0 (no back-up and unable to share photos to Outlook).

Is there another way to move the pictures and captions to a backup and to put on the new computer. Were talking 42 gb of pictures.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am unable to back up my catalog to DVD.
Going through the process PSE11 tells me I will need 16 DVDs. After the first one or two (sometimes three) I receive an error message, asking to update the firmware of my DVD burner. I have the latest firmware installed, and do not have any issues burning multiple DVDs with other software (Nero; Version 12). I have tried Fuji as well as TDK media and tried burning @ 8x (My drive and the media are both rated @ 16x). I have also tried turning off Media analysis. As a last resort, I uninstalled and re-installed PSE11. All with no success.
I am able to back up this catalogue to an external hard drive as well as an internal hard drive, but want to back up to a more stable media (DVD).
Win 7 (64-bit) with all updates and all drivers are the latest versions.
