how to edit an "uneditable smart object" (Layer>Smart Objects>Edit) but can't get rid of the white background... I want it to be transparent. This is despite the fact that I've indicated transparent background in the New File specifications.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a pillow bevel applied to a paint splatter brush image, and I'm having trouble with the shadows. I want to save this splatter as a transparent PNG. The problem is that a drop shadow effect is showing up when I save it this way. I think it's a "shading" setting rather than a true drop shadow, as there is no drop shadow set in the layer styles.
The shadow does not appear when a white background is applied. It only shows when the background is transparent. I've tried reducing the shading opacity in the bevel dialogue, and this does get rid of the drop shadow....the problem is that it also removes the shading from the paint splatter, making the image look flat instead of raised.
I am trying to add a new object to the decoration folder. I noticed they are all .png files, so I created a new png item with a transparent background ( with Gimp) and saved it in the same folder where all the other original ones are. It does come up in the list and I can add it to my video, but it changes the background to white, even though the original one has definitely a transparent background.

I have been having issues with using the Magic Wand tool in Adobe Illustrator as well as the lasso tool.

Basically, I am trying to put a small graphic into a new Illustrator file.

The first thing I tried to do is to use the magic wand tool. But I found out that this did not work on a jpeg image since it did not have any individual objects to select.

So I tried something new. I opened the file in Adobe Photoshop and used the lasso tool to select an area. Then I coped this area. Then I tried to paste it into Adobe Illustrator. But the background was not transparent for the pasted image.

However, when I update the embedded smart object, only the partent SO is updated, the other SO seems to have a different child. here is the setup visually: canvas -> SO1 -> SO3canvas -> SO2 -> SO3 so when I update SO3 from within SO1, only SO1 is updated - SO2 stays the same.

Problem: Transform applied to Smart Object fails to transform an attached Smart Filters Mask.

I mean a Transform, including Free Transform, as found in the Edit menu. A simple move by the Move Tool is OK.

A workaround until this bug is squashed is to encapsulate the Smart Object + Smart Filters + Filter Mask inside another Smart Object and transform that.However, that will not be a satisfactory solution in some cases. If a filter has size parameter(s), e.g. Gaussian Blur radius, a scaling or warping/distorting transform applied after the filter will obviously differ from the filter applied after the transform.

In any case, the workaround is inconvenient to subsequent editing and experimenting with filters and masks.
I render 3d object from raster and smart object (extrusion) Each time i do the edge where the extrusion meets the front inflation material is slightly distorted. Should be a smooth line.

I have create a new layer that is transparent, but the background color on my website does not go thru it. The background color of this image appears to be grayish not transparent.
I just noticed that my assemblies are turning transparent when I edit them anymore. It was working the other day and I haven't changed any settings or downloaded any service packs so I don't know why it stopped doing this and for the life of me I cannot figure out how to make it start again. I have just recently upgraded (if you want to call it an upgrade) to Inventor Pro 2013 from 2011 so I'm not quite sure how to change everything else.Â

I have some text documents in PDF format and would like to edit it in photoshop CS5, but each time I open them up in photoshop, the background seems to be transparent (tiny grey and white tiles), which is very eye tiring when editing/annotating with a wacom pen, how to fill the background total white?

I have an object that is comprised of several lines that are grouped together, and I want to fill the entire group with a fractal cloud 3-color fill. in cs2, i use smart object lot to replace image i mean i have to make collection of gallery of let's say mp3 albums so i have to put albums covers in my designs but exactly as i wanted in size {no matter whatever size/resolution the source (album cover) are} so smart objects always be the easiest way cos i firstly draw rectangulers in my custum size, and i covert each rectangulers to smart objects and replace every smart objects to place those albums covers. it's easiest way and since cs3 is launched, when i try to replace image of smart objects my replaced image(album cover) wont be as equal as my custum rectanguler size. this is my prob. when i place the images either they are placed bigger size than the size of smart object or smaller than smart object . can is there any process to make as shame size as smart object while placing images to smart object??? in cs2 it's possible but cs3 cs4 can't do such smart object or i'm a missing any new technique to do that? ya we can resize each placed covers to our custom size but it takes hell long time . i need shortcut way. wel in cs2 i been doin things like this using smart object which takes only 2 min to put images in my custom sized rectangular

I can place the same file as a smart object in B and C, but it becomes two different smart objects, which are seperately editable. I would like to be able to edit smart object D and the changes to be visible in both B and C and in turn in A.

I was told to double click the layers window and a new editable window would pop up...but only the FX window pops up. I've also tried the "edit Content" choice but that erases the smart object..
