Photoshop :: Transferring Actions In CS6 Between Mac And PC

I am struggling with getting actions I created or used on my Mac in CS6 to work on my PC (also CS6) at work. Would this be some kind of issue because they might have been created in an earlier version of CS? I have downloaded actions from the internet and used them on the PC version of CS6 and they have been totally fine.

Any actions that I've sent myself from my MC to PC simply won't open, I get the following error message:Â 'Could not complete your request because the file is not compatible with this version of Photoshop'.

Is there anything I can do to get this working? For the record I get the same error with gradients as well.
I recently upgraded from CS5 to CS6. The CS5 license was on a PC, the CS6 license is on my new Mac. Â I have access to my old PC still, but I have not been able to figure out how to transfer my Actions or my Camera Raw presets (.XMP files) to the Mac. I need access to these Actions asap and am not able to recreate them.
I downloaded a couple of actions from the web to my actions palette and they worked fine, but then I got greedy and downloaded a few more and that’s when things went south. Now none of the actions work - by not working I mean when I mouse over the Play Selection icon at the bottom of the action palette I get that little circle with a line through it. This happens with the PS default actions as well (I also get the circle on the Stop Playing/Recording and Begin Recording icons).
Somewhere in the following is probably what messed things up.
I downloaded actions to my computer in zip files. Copied them over to the actions folder (or somewhere) and unzipped them. I went back to the actions palette and hit “load actions” and loaded them. On the second set of actions that I downloaded I remember thinking “why am I copying and pasting these files - I bet I should cut and paste them, so I did and that may have been the start of the great crumble of 2004. PhotoShop help says: (under Saving and loading actions) “Actions are automatically saved the the Actions Palette folder in PS7.0 Settings folder. If this file is lost or removed, the actions you created are lost”.
I have searched for the settings folder and couldn’t find it, but the actions still show up on the actions palette - they just don’t run.
I’m a little fuzzy on the details on the above steps. In fact, I probably did something different on each download.
one more thing, I reloaded PhotoShop, but still nothing.
My computer crashed and I removed all apps and reinstalled so now none of my actions appear. However I do have a backup file of all of them and want to reinstall but before when I was using cs6 ( Im assuming same thing as CC as it was all on the subscription plan ) I would click actions then the right arrows and it would bring me a big screen of all the actions ( even the ones that were just preloaded in ps ) and it was a big box with all the actions and some options to record etc...Now that box isn't there and it's just a single column drop down menu.
My version of Photoshop CS6 is an upgrade from CS5 which was an upgrade from CS4, etc. When I deactivate and uninstall CS6 on old PC and then install and activate it on my new PC, using the license #s for CS6, will it look for my former CS5 version to validate that my install is legitimate?
I'm picking up my new PC today and I want to transfer PS CS3 & CS4 to it. What my query is that my copies of CS3 & 4 are upgrade discs. If I recall correctly, when I install CS3, its going to want to verify the upgrade by asking for a disc containg an earlier version of PS.My problem is that I have mislaid my copies of CS & CS2, but I still have a copy of PS7. Will CS3 accept this?
I’m going to be getting a new computer soon and was wondering about how to change over my Photoshop CC and Lightroom 5 to the new computer. In the past, when upgrading to a new computer, I could deactivate Photoshop through the help menu. Photoshop CC no longer shows that option, and since only two copies are allowed at once, I’m at a loss as to how to retire the copy I have now and switch the account to the new computer in such a way that Adobe can verify I have done so. I also have both Photoshop CC and Lightroom 5 on another computer.
I currently have CS6 on my desktop. If I buy a new computer is there any problems with Re-registering the program from my old and downloading it to the new?
I am trying to transfer my preferences from an XP machine to a Vista machine. The file names and locations don't seem to be the same between the two operating systems. Does anybody know how to do this?
How are you all? I just have a quick question. Is there a possible way that I can get a workspace I have and transfer it onto my other computer? The thing is, I customized it, (the name is "00001") It is not a preset one that came with photoshop.
i have pse9 on a xp machine. what do i need to do to have it work on my new windows 8.1 machine? i downloaded the program originally so i don't have a cd.
After completing adjustments to raw images and clicking Open Image the adjusted image appears in Photoshop CS5 as a checker board only.Working with CS5 and Windows 7
Photoshop CS5 is up and running on my new iMac all-in-one. However, when I transferred my photos from my old PC (Photoshop 6.0) the captions from all .psd files transferred successfully but none of the captions from .jpeg files transferred. I used a simple transfer of the photos from an external disk to "My Pictures" on the iMac. How can I redo this transfer so that ALL of the captions get transferred?
I have attempted to do multiple searches not only on the forums but also on other search engines and I have been unsuccessful.  I have done the following multiple times with same results. Note: I have CS6 on my personal Macbook Pro, my wife’s Macbook Pro and my work PC also running CS6.  I created an original image on MY Macbook Pro using CS6. I saved this image at the highest resolution possible to my computer. I can reopen and at all sizes of zoom there is no pixilation.  I saved this file to a thumb drive (also tried emailing) and opened the file on my wife's Macbook Pro and when I zoom I begin to see pixilation. This can also be seen on the printed copy of the image whereas that is NOT the case on my MacBook Pro.  I attempted the same process to my work PC however I received the same result. what I am doing incorrectly that is causing the image to become pixelated on any computer other than my own?
My i mac died. i have an external back up. apple store will transfer it to my new computer. but how can that be possible that Photoshop will just transfer.
I transferred my iPhoto collection into Elements 11 and the process went smoothly. However, the photos are all mixed up and not according to dates. Is this normal?
Cut out and realistically transfer this spider (if a zoomed in version is preferred) on to to this wall. If any editing could be done to the actual spider, to make it look slightly different.
I just bought a new laptop computer....I had Adobe Photoshop CS2 installed on my desktop computer...have not used it much at all. So, just yesterday I did the "Transfer Activation "thing". I did as instructed...Installed it on my laptop...(this new laptop is an HP Pavilion with 2GB, Intel Centrino, Light Scribe, and Windows Vista).
When I was through installing it (it said I installed successfully)....then I was told to register it... ...I did so...using my new address (of the laptop)...It told me It registered successfully.
I then proceeded to download updates....when all was said and done, and rebooted...said the updates were installed successfully as were the registration, and updates.
I want to move my PS and other adobe apps over to the new one. What do I need to do beside deleting the copy of PS on my old computer to make everything on the up and up?
The process should be an easy one -- BUT, my new copy of Elements 9 does not list under the FILE column, anything that looks like or works like "Catalogue".  Instead of the listing as per the Adobe tutorial as follows: FILE (then) Get Photos & Videos, (or) New, (or) Open recently edited in Editor, (or) Catalogue  My new software lists the following: FILE (then) New, (or) Open, (or) Open As, (or) Open recently Edited File, (or) Duplicate.  [No sign of Catalogue to be found anywhere -- hence impossible to transfer files/catalogues.]  Note: I use elements for its catalogue function with Photoshop CS5 and Bridge CS5. New camera required updated RAW-read ability from the old Elements 5.
I just transferred cs5 to my new imac computer using my time machine backup. I now get a "photoshop does not recognize this file type" when I try to open a raw file from Photoshop. When I try to open my raw files through bridge I get the message "you do not have permission to open the document. I have checked my permission preferences and have reading and writing permissions and updated to 6.7 ACR.
I have a lot of 72ppi photos that I need to place into a 300ppi Photoshop doc. Â Is conventional wisdom correct, that in order for the 72ppi photo to maintain same print size, it must be upscaled to 300ppi when before being transferred to the 300ppi doc?
I am about to start slicing my psd file to turn it into html but before I start I want make sure the font size is correct so my slicing wont be off. What is a good web font size?
Im worried once I slice my psd and once I add type in the html document the slicing will be off..

I have been sent a Microsoft Word document of text and photographs. The photo will need to be professionally doctored in Photoshop before commercial printing.
I have tried copying and pasting the images from the Word document into Photoshop but they lose a considerable amount of quality.
Is there an ideal/professional way of 'unbedding' the photos in Word and transferring them into Photoshop without losing detail?
