I'm having an isue with the resolution being changed when I bring a photo into PS CS3. The photo is already 300 dpi, but it changes once I import it into the program. The odd thing is that I have to actually reset the units button before it makes the change by clicking on the drop down list.

I went and set the size of the advert to A5 (see original settings attached) and completed the advert. I got a call from the magazine company saying that the advert was too "small" and that they needed the image to be at least 300dpi. They said that I needed to "set up the palette to 300dpi" (I think they were referring to Photoshop)
Boy, so I'm faced with having to go and redo the whole job.
My questions are: When I set up the new job in PDN it tells me that the New Size is 2.0Mb, but when I finished the job it had gone down to 295kb - How do you set up the whole job to result in a resolution of 300dpi?What is the relationship between pixels/cm and dpi?How do you set up the job for the right size ie A5 but increase the resolution?I'm loathe to ask this question here but will it be better to go and design this advert in something like Gimp?Designing for a webpage is the exact opposite as for designing for print because with the web you want images to be very small. Here I need the finished advert to be 2Mb is size. At the moment, the finished advert is only 295kb.
I'm having problems trying to set the video resolution on both of my copies of VS Pro X4. The captures I'm using are 16x9, and when I select a thumbnail and play it, the clip first displays as 4x3 in the preview window, then when it starts playing, it goes to 16x9, but when I put the clip in the video track, it displays and plays in 4x3... even after I change the Project Properties to 16x9, it still does the same thing.
I have recently taken some of the same files and created a 16x9 optimized MPEG in the share menu, but for some reason, I'm unable to do it again. I have had problems with my capture device, and haven't used VS Pro X4 for a while, but now I have a new methodology, and am back to working with video, again. Some of the things I did before, are now forgotten... I'm sure the answer is somewhere on this site, but so far, all of my searches and reading have only offered the things I have already done, and so far as I can tell, that doesn't work. At this point, I can't remember if the editing I did before, was displayed in 4x3 or 16x9, but the DVDs I have burned are definitely in 16x9, but the last one was definitely 4x3.
I am not yet an owner for VideoStudio. This program is on my short list of software I wish to use for screen capture (creating a series of tutorials for an online classroom) and I have to be able to produce these items in a minimum of 720P 16x9 format (Ideally would like to grab at 1080P but 720 is my absolute minimum requirement). Can VideoStudio do this for me? Do I need a specific capture/video card to be able to acquire at a 720P resolution?
I have a background in broadcast television in my day job, (I edit on Quantel and Apple FCP) and what I like about this software is that it's an "all in one" solution.

When importing a bitmap using external linking the preview image has a resolution of 45dpi. Is it possible to adjust the value of this preview somewhere in the ini or winxp registry?

I realize the nature of my question maybe asking the impossible, but I have a low res image I downloaded from the internet, placed in an InDesign page, blew it up and printed it out. I was going for the distressed look that it has, it looks ok when I print it out considering it's low res and I blew it up fairly large. However, it's a little too pixelated to look professional when printed. Are they any tricks or things I can do to make it look higher res for print. I've attached the image as well as a screenshot of the InDesign file so you can see it in context.

Best practices for setting up systems in a lab environment. We have a lab enviroment of about 200 systems that access AutoCad, Inventor, Mechanical and others.
We need to have a customized interface come up when Autocad is opened by students.I have read that you can do this with profiles and workspaces and also with loading a acad.lsp file.
In the past we have just copied the Windows admin profile used to customize AutoCad to the default profile. In AutoCad 2013 that does not seem to grab everything. It doesn't seem to be the best way to do what we need.
We will also be moving to Windows 7 soon which will also cause an issue.I want to find the best way to do this with out having to deal with the Windows profile.
I am trying to have an image of mine printed professionally. However the print house I have sent my image to has asked that my image be submited at 300 DPI. My image is already 7200 x 4055 pixles with a resolution of 300. My question is what is the major difference between resolution and DPI and how can I go about correcting the dimensions of my image?

What is the highest possible resolution I could use on the photos without making them look all pixelated (or what ever it looks like) when printed? I was told by a friend that 300 pixels/inch would yield better but is it possible I could go higher?

Steps
1) Open picture A in photoshop
2) Transformed picture A smaller so that it is easier to work with (less lag)
3) I created some layers and merged all the layers together
4) Copy the merged layer into another Art piece in Photoshop
5) In the new Art piece, I transformed the merged layer back to the original size
As I transformed the merged layer back to the original size, will it become distorted? Or will the resolution remain around the same?
I created a 4x8 photo, added images and text, saved it. When I print it, the resolution goes below 150dpi. Why is that? What can I do to get it to print exactly how I created it to be?

they are all now 50mb tiff files about, 5000x 3000 pixels more or less.
In the resolution box, the ones scanned by nikon film scanner are 4000.
the ones shot digitally converted by Camera Raw are 240.
And then I have a few from some Large jpegs that are 72.
Does any of this matter? ie, what it says in the resolution box?
Does changing the dpi of an image change the resolution of the image without changing the size?I have an image that is 300 dpi that I need to enlarge 400% changing the dpi to 75.I don't think manually changing the dpi to 600 will actually change the clarity of the image when enlarged 400%.

When I close and reopen the image, its values have changes. For example: a 10 x 5" images at a resoltion of 300 will somehow change to 100 x 50 at a low resolution of something like 6. I'd like to know what causes this.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI am using a Netbook as of now. The resolution of it is 1024x600. Why are you not aloud to "save" or "save-as" with a resolution lower than 1024x768? The weird part is, when I close a tab on Photoshop, it will ask me if I want to save and it will let me save my work as a Photoshop Document. It also makes no sense on how Fireworks will let me use "save" and save-as" with my resolution. So is there anyway I can save my work on Photoshop other than using .psd format?
Additionally, I transfer the .psd to Fireworks and then save my work from there. Only problem is that none of my effects (i.e. Bevel & Emboss) on layers show up when they are transferred to Fireworks.
i use led wide screen monitor but it's show wide and when i want to use photoshop i must change monitor resolution to 1920 * 1080 this is good & show everythin normal but this is very small if it's possible which resolution can i use that show normal & good for photoshop & other editing software

For some reason whenever i open up an image it seems to default that image to 240 resolution. I can't figure out why! Even if i output an image with 72 res, and reopen it, it'll go back to 240! Any ideas on what the heck could be going on guys?
View 4 Replies View Relatedtry to record those steps for action: Image>Image Size --> then change the resolution (a lower res p.e. 50dpi from a 300dpi pic) but want to keep checked the other setings (Constrain porportions and resample image) and click OK --> and stop recording the action keeps the height you have as result from your first (recording) pic !!! and make the next time you use the action all the pics the same height.

Most of it is just text and a few rectangle marquee boxes to give color. There are three pictures used. What's the quickest way to replicate this? can I just create a new document at 300dpi and drag all my layers(except the pictures) into it from the low res one or do I have to recreate everything?

Now, does 1M size mean 1 megabyte file size or is it the pixel dimensions figure in the image size dialogue box?
