Photoshop Elements :: Searching For Duplicates In Catalog?
Mar 11, 2013
I am experiencing numerous duplicate photo images in my PSE catalog. I woud like to do a search of the catalog and bulk remove the duplicates. Is there a way to do this?
I have a catalog and images on my laptop. I have created another catalog that I want to merge with this one. It includes some duplicate images and thats fine. I want the images, keywords and folder structure from the new catalog to merge with the existing one for teaching purposes.
Lightroom wont let me Merge and include the duplicates.
I immediately "imported " my pictures to my Catalog. As I began to read and view the tutorials, I realized that this was probably premature and so I "removed" the pictures. Somehow, in this process, I also removed the menu bar "catalog" from the left side of the screen (now it just shows "folders"). How do I reinstate the Menu bar "Catalog"?
When I eventually imported my pictures again, there were now duplicates of every picture and many pictures have several duplicates. What is the best way to remove duplicates rom Lightroom? Also, I checked "My Pictures" on my PC and all these duplicates are there, as well.
Scenario: I'm out in the field filling memory cards and reviewing them on my secondary PC (laptop), marking & editing various images at night. I do not manage to import all of the photos off of all of my cards (and can't due to disk space requirements). I want to keep the edits and work (and images, due to running out of cards I formated some of them that I _knew_ were in the LR catalogue AND backed up onto other devices).
I get home to my primary PC and export the laptop catalouge and then import it, WIN. I start importing images from cards that ARE NOT IN THE CATALOUGE, also WIN. I put in a card that has AT LEAST _SOME_ (but not necessarily all) images in the exported catalouge. Lightroom FAILS to notice that images that were imported FROM THE SAME CARD into the Laptop & Desktop with THE SAME CATALOUGE are duplicates!
What I want to do is to BE SURE that all of my images are in my primary/desktop catalouge WITHOUT dupes. I want to insert the memory card and have LR import ONLY THE ONES IT DOES NOT ALREADY have. This seems like somehting LR should automagically support, but apparently not. How do I accomplish what I want to do without doing something rediculous like importing everything regardless, then buying a de-duping tool, deleting the duplicate images using file system tools, then removing the not found images manually from LR?
When searching for images in Elements 10 by tags such as "cats" is there any way to prevent Elements 10 from displaying all the images in a stack which might contain one image tagged "cats"?
Whenever i select a pic in organizer i allways get message "searching for missing files" when i want to fix the pic and can not get beyond this point. Tried import from card reader but the result is exactly the same.
Can I find photos by searching folder location, using Photoshop Elements 10? I used to use that method frequently inversion 5, but don't see how to do it in version 10. I am using Windows 7.
when trying to edit an image I keep getting a message that says it is trying find the image - even though it is already open in the organiser space. - It says it is searching for a missing file!
When I am editing my pictures I keep getting a slightly transparent duplicate (about 50 of them all over my original. I am sure its in my settings some place but I cannot find out where.
I have imported photos from hard drives and have many duplicates. Is there some way to elimanate the duplicates, other than one-by-one? is thare a method to delete all duplicates?
I open the software, optimize the database, hit the triangle button and click "find duplicates." This freezes the software each and every time.
Virus caused me to wipe the hard drive and reinstall the software. The problem is the software has about 2 or 3 times the pictures it should it shows previous edits and two pictures and on top of that edited the pictures as it imported them so some pictures appear 3 times. I really need to get this taken care of. Using 64 bit Windows 7.
In the course of migrating from Windows 7 to Windows 8, I ended up with a large number of duplicate pictures. Is there a way to filter duplicates to avoid going through the 9,000+ in my data base?
When I import jpeg images from Sony a77 camera to my windows 7 computer I am getting 2 more dupplicates, the 2nd one has noise that looks like rectangles . Is there a fix for this? It is on elements 10.
Just upgraded to Photoshop and Premiere Elements 12. Decided to use Elements Organizer for the first time starting with a completely new Catalog.
I selected a subset of my photos to just check it out -- a folder with 3 subfolders. I am certain there are zero duplicates in my Windows file structure. After "Get Photos and Videos" "From Files and Folders..." the import occured quickly but all 3 subfolders were duplicated under "My Folders". Photos were also duplicated.
It's not too bad that My Folder shows dupes but the images are considered 100% different between. For example, if I tag 1 photo, the same one in the duplicate folder still needs tagged. I should not need to run a duplicate image search either when the source folder contains no duplicates. This is really disconcerting as I have nearly 20K photos (I scanned every photo my mom and dad took from the past 30 years). Cleanup of false dupes in something that large is just rediculous.
Is this a bug? May-be an intentional function of the program?
Why do I keep getting exact replicates/duplicates of pictures in the organizer. More duplicates with more movement of the picture, ie more tags. I keep deleting them, and they still come back
I have just transferred all my files from my computer to the Organiser and I notice that there are quite a few duplicates appearing in the folders. Is there a quick way to delete the duplicates?
We have 11000+ plus photos all carefully cataloged in Photoshop Album 1.0 on my old Windows XP PC. Our new PC is Windows 7 Home Premium with Photoshop Elements 9. How do I import our existing catalog and continue sorting our new photos into our old catalog?
My latest battle with PSE11 is trying to access my catalog in PSE11 via the Catalog Manager but it doesn't show up in the list.
The catalog is named My Catalog 2 is located at C:ProgramDataAdobeElements OrganizerCatalogsMy Catalog 2. It is the only catalog I use and is the one that opens up when I launch Organizer. But, for the life of me, I can't get it to show up in the Catalog Manager. The only catalog that shows up is the original catalog which is at a different location and was created when I installed PSE11 on my new computer (Thinkpad W530, Windows 8). I've tried the Custom Location option and browsing to the location, but still no dice. This catalog has thousands of pictures and was converted from my previous PSE6 catalog. How do I get the Catalog Manager to find my current active catalog?
I am using Photoshop 6. Since I have loaded a picture from a floppy disk, Photoshop keeps searching the a:/ disk of my computer with almost every action I do (selecting a tool, opening the layer style window, selecting a layer, what ever)
Every time I hear the sound of the computrer searching for a floppy, that is not there, and see the light of the a: drive flickering.
It makes working with PS rather slow.
This only happens with PS not with other programs. And it continues after resetting the computer.
I recently bought a new computer and with I ordered photoshop cs2. This would be an upgrade from elements for me. My question is can you move the catalog from elements with all the tags etc. and put it into photoshop cs2 with adobe bridge. I need to know because I plan to reformat my old computer before photoshop arrives and if I should back it up.
