View 1 Replies View RelatedTotal buffoon when it comes to getting GIMP to do what I want to do. I'm just practicing with making maps, black lines on a white background, and I've run into some issues I'm wondering if I can get rectified.
1) For whatever reason, the line weight of everything has shifted throughout the file, ending with some lines lighter and grayer than others. Is there a way I can get GIMP to trace all the lines in a uniform black, with uniform thickness?
2) I have tried locking the white background, but often when I select and move my black lines, if I don't click in just the right spot it moves the white background instead, which is really, reeeaaaly aggravating. How Do I get that background to be completely untouchable?
3) In trying to colour the image, I've run into problems with their being a white outline between the colour and the black lines. I think I need to sharpen the image or somesuch? How can one correct this issue?
4) Is there anyway to convert the black dotted lines of the paths tools into straight black lines, in regards to an older file? If not, is there an easy way to trace them?
5) I find the scale too tends to make my image too jagged. I want to take a section of my map, move it too another file and enlarge it to do detail work - what's the best way to do this in order to have a clear image?
6) Any way to translate an image from a MErcator Projection ot a Winkell-Trippel projection, one that works on a Mac?
I need to smooth the black lines of a clipart picture (have taken out the colour with colour bucket and wish to use the black outline as a colouring picture for children). The lines left are OK but a bit fuzzy in places, although not broken. Is there a smoothing technique I can use on the lines?

View 4 Replies View RelatedUsing Acad LT 2014, Win8. Using stb plot style. I also tried printing from my Win7 laptop, same result. Does not appear to be a Windows8 issue.
I am having something odd happening, I think it is new with 2014.
I noticed that my lines are not actually printing as black, but rather a very dark brown or almost black.
I have a stb style (Bk 1.00), Color = black, screening 100, and for some reason it's not really printing full black.
One layer (A-Elev-Maj) is set for color 132, but the plot style is Bk 1.00. It prints on my Canon Pixma and on pdf as very dark brown.
I have another layer (A-Fill-Bk) set to color 0,0,0, and also plot style Bk 1.00, and it prints dead black.
I tried making the A-Elev-Maj layer 0,0,0 and it still prints an "almost" black.
I checked in the stb file, it is really set to black. I tried 250, as well as 0,0,0 and go the same result.
Attached pdf. You can look at the fence railing or the triangle chimney cap to see the comparison of the A-Fill-Bk which is printing actual black and surronding lines which are "almost" black. Zoom in and you can see it.
I scanned a black and white print in color and am trying to replace all the black with dark green. Been trying for hours in elements 9. This is all so hard. Just to ask this question I have typed it into 3 different screens, set screenname, many other hurdles.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI am working with a digitized land use image that classifies land use by color. Land use is also divided by black lines that are about 10 pixels in width. I would like to remove these black lines so that land type changes are represented only by color change. What is the best way to remove the black lines?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI just purchased a new computer which is running Windows 7 and has an AMD Radeon graphics card. I loaded my Photoshop CS4 on this new computer. I previously had CS4 loaded on a Dell Inspiration laptop that died. I never had any problems with CS4 on my laptop. I have always used a working color profile of sRGB IEC61966-2.1 as that is the color profile that my digital camera uses. Now when I open photos in CS4 using this color profile, there are black pixelated areas on many of the photos. I can get rid of this in two ways, 1. by dropping the saturation down to around -8 or 2. changing my working space profile to Adobe RGB 1998 and then converting the documents color profile to the working space. I have to convert every photo that I bring in to Photoshop. Is the graphics card not compatible with CS4?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI've seen tons of photos in black and white that look spectacular. I have a feeling a lot are taken with black and white film, but some must be turned b/w! My question then is how do you achieve this awesome b/w in photoshop? For a while I just turned it grayscale (i know, i know.) Then I just desaturated. And recently someone told me to make a hue/sat adjustment layer and play with each of the different shades. After playing with all these ways I haven't been able to get the effects I want. I tried browsing around looking for a picture that embodies what I want just in case...And I finally decided to just give you a site, I love this photographer and the ways she uses b/w and other tons!
Amazing Photography in b/w and others
Recently I scanned many old black and white photos to my computer. I wanna colorize some of them. I do have experience of using photoshop, but what I need is the best way to colrize a black and white photo, [like using photoshop channels etc..]

View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen opening my jpeg photos in Photoshop elements 9, once saved elements seems put the image in a format that my Apple Mac isn't compatible with. View 16 Replies View RelatedI just recently upgraded to Adobe Photoshop CC and something really odd is happening: On some zoom levels I have this empy black or white box appearing. When I zoom in or out it disappears, or reappears.
However, when I save the file as a JPEG, or bring it into Google Nik it is OK. It's almost like there is a software bug, or a bad memory spot in my video card.
Somehow in starting to use Elements all photos have been duplicated.
How do I delete the duplicates without going through thousands of photos?
How do I stop the program from creating and saving thousands of duplicates?
New user to PSE11. Is it recommended that ALL photos be in albums or is the idea that photos in albums are a subset of the photos in folders? With all the sort and search functionality, I don't understand the benefit of albums.I name my image folders using a standard naming convention with the date embedded so it makes them rather easy to manage.
View 1 Replies View RelatedThe instructions in Adobe Photo Elements 11 Classroom In a Book are the classic Windows "Drag and Drop" Method. However, when I try to do it, the cursor/icon I am dragging turns into a gray circle with a gray diagonal when it reaches the Media Browser pane in the Organizer and the folder/photo is not imported into the Organizer when I "drop." Do I need to change setting in Windows (Vista, SP2) or Photoshop Elements 11?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI just upgraded to photoshop elements 11. When I attempt to sync photos in iTunes (to synch with my iPhone), Photoshop Elements appears in the drop down and when I select it, it finds all the "albums" in the catalog. However, when I select an album to sync, iTunes indicates 0 photos are available in the album.
I'm running photoshop elements 11, iTunes 11.0.1.12, Windows 8 Pro.
if I try to sync "all photos and albums" it still reports that there are "0 photos" available to sync.
I've tried to make new albums, which iTunes "sees" the names, but there are "0 photos" available to sync.
I've also tried to sync with a folder (file system) which works just fine.
Photoshop is acting wonky now that i've installed windows 8. i had to upgrade my video drivers, amd radeon 5700 series. now when editing photos, the background goes black or transparent.
