Photoshop :: CR2 Files Will Not Open In CS6
Mar 1, 2013
I am running os10.6.8 and recently upgraded to cs6 from cs5. I have checked for software updates and my version is current. when I (attempt) to view in bridge or try and open cr2 files in the latest photoshop it will not allow. I can only see the cr2 icon but no image. HOWEVER - I can view/open the files in my previous photoshop version (5) with no problem. I have seen reference to 'patches' without explanation as to how/when those are needed or is this the same as a latest software update?

About a month and a half ago, after a microsoft update, I cannot open .cdr files from the file/open list. When going to file/open, the programs hangs up, cannot even use "cancel", and have to go to Windows Task Manager to shut down the program. All is well until I try to open a file from file/open.
I can import .eps, and everything else seems fine.My work around is to open from My Documents --Which works fine. Just is a silly little aggravation.
I have uninstalled, reinstalled, repaired, etc....all the normal fixes.

I recently installed a student version of Maya 2012 on my home computer so I didn’t have to work from college for a project, but I have run into some issues.
Not sure what is going on with my Maya but it won't open files unless I actually go to it in the browser and double click on the file. Even once I have done that I can only save over it, save as doesn't work. I also can't create or set projects. There are probably more problems but these are the ones I noticed/really need.
This is what appears in my output window:
Could not find maya.utils._guiExceptHook.
Invalid Python Environment: Python is unable to find Maya's Python modules
Python Environment:
PYTHONHOME = C:Program FilesAutodeskMaya2012in
PYTHONPATH = C:Program FilesAutodeskMaya2012in;C:/Program Files/Autodesk/MayaPlugIn2012//scripts;C:/Program Files/NVIDIA Corporation/PhysX for Maya/Maya 2012/scripts

I'm using Gimp 2.8.4 on a MacBook Pro.
I have been working on an image file for several hours now, and as a result, there were MANY files open (probably over 30).
I attempted to save the file, and recieved the following error message:
"Could not read the contents of [folder name] Too many open files"
I then closed each of the open files except the file I was trying to save, but got the same results.
The same error message pops up when I try to open a file as well.

I'm working with both Photoshop and Illustrator CS6 on a mac. I'm creating a graphic. The background is a (cartoonish) mouth and I finished it a couple of days ago. (It's an Illustrator file.) I've been working on the letters to go inside of the mouth, (Once I'm finished it'll look as though they're being crushed.) I scanned and edited small wooden letters in Photoshop, and now I would like to work with them with the background in Illustrator. I understand how to open a Photoshop file in Illustrator, but I don't want to open the document as a separate Illustrator file. Is there a way to open a file from Photoshop as a second layer?
Some of the letters repeat as well. Will I have to create two files for this, or can I open the same file twice?

After many years of using LR this is the first time I've encountered this issue (see 1st screenshot below). LR is scrambling my files. The affected raw files open fine in other programs, including adobe photoshop cc (see 2nd screenshot).

I'm studying Photoshop at home using Pearson's " Class in a Book", from Adobe. I'm now stuck in Chapter 10, editing Videos, because I cannot open two files needed to proceed with the next excercise. I'm not able to open 3 of the 9 files in Photoshop, even tried to drag, change format, etc. All the other files with formats like MP4 and JPG have no problem opening, only those with MP3 & MOV extensions. I Should note that I can open all the files directly from windows file explorer or using Bridge, through Quicktime.
Bellow, is the message i get when I try to move the file to Photoshop.
"Could not complete your request beacuse the video file could not be open"
Here is some information about my computer;

Photoshop CS5 will not open files. Occasionally if i try to open a .psd file that has already been created by double clicking on it in its folder, it will open but I will hardly be able to edit it. For example, the brush tool does not work, crop tool, resizing image etc. I had this problem 2 weeks ago. I uninstalled adobe creative suite, ran the adobe cloud cleanup tool and then reinstalled the programs and everything worked again. However after a week everything suddenly went back to the way it was again. Very frustrating! I might as well mention that at the same time as Photoshop "crashed" I also became unable to drag objects in Illustrator and InDesign.

I have it on my Mac. I tried opening a file that I worked on a while ago and Photoshop opened, and I could see all of my layers on the right, but the window with the actual picture did not come up. I thought maybe there was something wrong with the file, so I tried opening a new file, but I had the same problem. It showed the background layer, but I couldn't see the actual image.

I'm using Photoshop CS6 Extended (64-bit) for a few month without any problems. But now it doesn't do anything when clicking "File" > "New..." or trying to open a picture or PSD-File. I've also tried the same with an older Photoshop version (CS5), but here it also won't work.

Right after rebooting my computer (Windows 7 Pro) I can open one photo file in CS6 using any normal method of opening a file in Photoshop. After closing that file I cannot open any more files using any method such as>Open Recent, File>Open, or right click open using Photoshop, by selecting the file, double-clicking to open it etc. I also cannot open a file in photoshop CS6 from Lightroom 5 using Photo>Edit In> Photoshop CS6. Everything works in Lightroom when I use Photo>Edit>open in CS6 Photoshop opens but the file doesn't.
If I reboot my computer I can then open one file using any of those methods, but when I try to open an additional file it will not open. I have run through all the opening Photoshop without plugins suggestions and all the other suggestions about what may cause this problem which I have found on Photoshop Help and Support Center and nothing has worked.
This started while Lightroom 4.4 and CS6 were on my machine and had been working well for months. Then, suddenly, I couldn't open anything in Photoshop. I know of no changes made to the computer. After trying various suggested solutions I reinstalled Photoshop CS6 and things seemed to be working so I went ahead with updating to Lightroom 5. The same problem popped up in CS6 again. Lightroom 5 and Lightroom 4.4 have both worked with no problems and still do. Photoshop seems to be the problem.

I am using PS CS6 through the Creative Cloud. When I try to open a file (RAW or JPEG), I can see the layer and the file name, but nothing is showing in the work area. I have tried uninstalling all Adobe products (I also use LR 4.3). Ran a registry cleaner twice, and reinstalled PS with updates and ACR 7.3. This did not solve anything. The files open fine in LR 4.3 and in PSE 10 before I unistalled it

I went back to open them in CS6 from Camera Raw and found that I cannot open them driectly in CS6 from there. Here is the popup I get: Windows cannot find C;Program FilesAdobeAdobe Photoshop CS4 (64 Bit)Photoshop.exe. Make sure you typed the name correctly, and then try again.
