Photoshop :: Layer Masking
Jun 15, 2011The image above is some text with various blending options applied ... well a part of it.
I have applied and outerglow and a drop shadow to the text. But, I want that gap to be filled with white and to have no drop shadow as you can see.
How can I achieve that? I assume with some sort of masking? I want to ensure the text can be resized so rasterizing and painting that area white is not an option.

Dec 20, 2007I'm not quite sure what I did to screw this up, but for the past few days, I can't fully airbrush blend/ remove parts of an image when layer masking (i.e. when airbrushing out @ 100% hardness, opacity, fill, flow... all the good stuff... the image I'm trying to airbrush out remains as though I've just taken the opacity or fill down to about 5%). I've tried messing with different types of brushes, but nothing seems to work.

Apr 16, 2004I'm making this image that illustrates a famous dadaist quote and one thing im trying to do is make a couple words out of a painting. This is unclear so I will explain.
I have made a layer that only has rasterised white text on it. There are three words, each spread out about two inches from the other (vertically). One of the words has a pretty interesting blur effect on it (this is significant). There is a painting I like.
I want the white text to be filled with the corresponding areas on the painting. This means the text will actually be made OF the painting. Now i considered just clicking on the outside of the text hitting select inverse and just going to the layer with the painting and cutting out the selection of the text.
However, if you remember, one of the words has an interesting blur effect which will then be lost, but I want the blur to be retained. On that note, I know this has to be done via a layer mask over the painting layer, BUT i cant paste the white text into the mask nor can i retype it without a new layer being created.

May 17, 2013I am trying to figure out layering masking. I have watched some videos at which people use laying masks to color, shade, etc... however they are able to mask the outline as well, but when they color it does not effect the outline.

Jun 29, 2005I, like most of us here undoubtedly, have become pretty familiar with the pen tool. From way back when we first start by placing anchor points then going back over them and adjusting them, to getting to the point where we can place them in the right spot, adjust them as we place them and keep moving.
Recently though, just to change things around so I don’t get bored, I've decided to try using the brush tool and my drawing tablet for masking purposes.
I was surprised to find that I really enjoyed it.
While they both give different results right off the bat, the end result is still the same. Something is masked out.
Mostly now, what I do is pen tool for everything except the hair. I just create a big path around the hair then come back and use the brush tool.
So...anyway. I'm just wondering if anyone has a preference or a good combination between the two?
Personally, I like both. I think they both have their strong points and weaknesses. The pen tool makes masked objects look obviously cropped, while the brush gives a bit more of a random edge. I mean you can still spot cropped images that were made with a brush, but its not as in your face. Of that is neither good or bad because if you need those sharp edges, your better off using the pen tool.

Oct 1, 2011I'm looking for a plugin that will merge one layer with all of the individual layers below it. So this would be the equivalent of duplicating one layer multiple times and then moving each duplicate between all the layers below and then merging the duplicate layers down to each original individual layer.
It could be seen as putting an ace on top of the deck, duplicating that ace 51 times, and then putting a duplicate ace in between each of the cards below and then merging each duplicate ace card down to each of the other individual 51 cards below in the deck.
I've found allot of nice multi-layer plugins (Like "LayerGroups") on the GIMP plugin registry that have worked doing things that I need, but now I'm looking for this one on the GIMP plugin registry and I'm not having any luck.

Paint Shop Pro :: NeatImage Plugin In X6 Does Not Appear
Oct 5, 2013I try to install my NeatImage v6.1 Pro+ Plugin (32 bits version, the only available) on my Corel PSP X6 ultimate (64 bits), as I previously used an old Photoshop version.
So I have placed the "Neatimage.8BF" file into the C:program Files(x86)CorelCorel PaintShop Pro X6PlugInsFRNeatimage directory, but when I start X6 64 bits, the Neatimage plugin does not appear in the "plugins / external Modules" menu list.
Of course the "Perfectly Clear" plugin, provided with X6, that is located in the "C:program Files(x86)CorelCorel PaintShop Pro X6PlugInsFRPerfectlyClearforPSP" directory appears and is operationnel.
BUT I see the Neatimage plugins in the 32 bits version of PSP X6, so maybe the plugin is not installed in the apropriate directory ?
How I could get Neatimage working with X6-64 ? (I run W7 Pro-64bits).
