View 2 RepliesSome how my keywords got scrambled. The first thing I'd like to do is move a keyword from its new (incorrect) location as a sub-keyword back to being a parent keyword of a hierarchy. I have tried dragging and dropping it but it immediately returns to its incorrect location. I considered creating a new keyword as a parent keyword (the same word), then open the images linked to the misplaced keyword and drag all the images to the newly created parent keyword. Then empty and delete the misplaced sub-keyword. But...I fear loosing links to collections, vitual copies, etc. for all the images. best method for returning the keywords to their original placement in the hierachy.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI'm noticing that when I convert a RAW file (NEF for Nikon) in LR4.3 to a JPG, it doesn't contain the number of shutter actuations. For that, I need to use ViewNX. Is there anyway to preserve/extract this bit of EXIF information in Lightroom 4.3?

I'm seeing this EXIF plugin that might do the trick...?[UR]...
I have a Nikon J2 Camera. It is set to take photographs and store them on the card as NEF files these cannot at the moment be converted to be read by my Version of Adobe CS4 Photoshop. How can I upgrade my software to enable me to read these files?

View 16 Replies View RelatedIs there any way Lightroom 5 can save the information from my Nikon Cameras RAW file.
Â
When I open my RAW files in Lightroom 5 all my camera settings are not saved.
Â
Is there some way around this.
I use Windows 7 Pro, 64 bit. I saw an item that suggested going into Explorer and clicking "show hidden files and folders": I clicked that and then restarted the computer. No change in behavior.
Â
I've left the import up for more than 5 minutes (someone mentioned that LR4 is slow): I never got the import done.Â
Â
When I click the "X" at the end of the import thermometer, I get a message (in that location) that the import is canceled. The display in the main window (where the image would appear) still says "importing files". I have to quit LR4 and start it up again to do anything else.
Â
I was previously using LR3.6, that used to work fine. I tried going back to LR3.6 to import some files I recently shot: now LR3.6 does the same thing as LR4 (hangs when I try to import Nikon Electronic Format files).Â
Why cant I import my Nikon D800E NEF files in LR 4.3 - just started recently -I have been doing the same thing for months and never had a problem. "unable to copy a file to location"
View 5 Replies View RelatedI love tethered Shooting but as default (at least for Nikon) Lightroom does only save the file on the computer, not on the memory card.
Â
Now I want to have a backup of the image file on the memory card additionally to downloading it. The tethering software digiCamControl can do this with my camera, so it is technically possible.
Â
So how can I achieve this using Lightroom tethering?
Aright i tempered with my character a bit, now as it walks the skin keeps moving along like in the old cartoons

The connection between finder and photoshop doesn't seem to be working right. Another example being when I choose to open a file the menu that opens requires me first to select the type of file I want to import before it will allow me to select a file type. There is no default.
In Inventor Professional 2014, under certain screen sizes (by lcd, not necessarily pixels), inventor will display a scrambled screen that makes it impossible to view the work to be done.
1. Radeon HD cards 5900, and 6900 series are doing this.
2. Nvidia Quadro FX 4800 is not doing this.
3. Simply adding a second open drawing, and having it display the tabs at the bottom, resolved the scrambling.
4. Only the drawing area is scrambled, not the menus, or Browers.
5. Reducing the program, or drawing window may fix the issue.
6. Templates have nothing to do with it.
7. Application options May have something to do with it, but I can't find which ones.
8. Cycling thru all hardware options has no effect.
9. Installing (clean) the latest video drivers has no effect. (even betas)
10. When the screen scrambled, dragging the main program window to undock it from monitor 2 to monitor 1 would cause Inventor to crash (most of the time).
My machine has been doing this since I installed 2014. My supervisors computer was not. Then when I imported the application options, it began to do so. I MUST resolve this issue today, without installing a bunch of new video cards.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI shoot with Nikons which in the RAW format create what they call NEF files.
When I try to open them , I get the following message:
" Could not open .NEF becasue of a program error "
I have determined that if go to the Open file I can get it open, provided I know the exact dimensions of the image, but this is slow and cumbersome.
How can I set it up so that the images simply open in the NEF format?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have never had issues processing Nikon's raw file format in CS3 previously, however I recently purchased a newer camera (D3100) and can no longer use this function. I have updated to the latest version of Camera Raw available for CS3 and it did not work. Am I correct in assuming that my camera is too new for this older version of photoshop? Is there a work around to enable me to process my raw files or is it an impossibility without upgrading?

View 1 Replies View RelatedThin black branches against a blue sky are always problematic. Problematic for Lightroom, that is. The jpegs straight out of my D5100 totally eliminate all CA and purple fringing, so I know it can be done. It's just that no matter how I play with the "Defringe" sliders I cannot eliminate the bluish case on the branches. I go back and forth between my attempts in LR4.4 to my jpeg of the same scene and the jpeg handles it perfectly.
Â
"Remove Chromatic Aberration" box is checked. Is it maybe a fact of life that Lightroom 4.4 just doesn't handle nefs as well as maybe Canon raws?
Â
My workflow is such that I have to work on a ton of images at one time, so I have a "prest upon import" set up. Then I export as tiffs. So I'd like to keep all the tweaking in Lightroom for efficiency's sake. Very few of my images actually have this "problem" but in a video tutorial on the use of these sliders the commentator mentioned that the submittal of images to a client (magazine, whatever) requires that all CA/defringing to be totally done or you'd look like an amateur. All his video did was get close, just like my attempts just get me closer but nowhere as good as the SOOC jpegs do.Â
