In my pre-Lightroom days I did my keywording in Bridge,. At that time I organised my keywords in Parent Groups, I would now like to move my keywords out from their parents. Is this possible in either Lightroom or Bridge?
View 1 RepliesSometimes I assign keywords for DNG files in Adobe Bridge CS5. Then I import into LR to do some color correction. Then I would export as JPG for the client. In LR2, the keywords would show up fine. For example, if I used "Caucasian" it would just show up in LR2 as "Caucasian". Now, in LR4, when I import (and export), I get Caucasian > Ethnic. The exported JPG would have "Caucasian" and "ethnic". I only want "Caucasian." Not "Ethnic." Is there a way to cut off the "parent" KW in LR4 like was done in LR2?"

View 5 Replies View RelatedI added keywords to some photos, then found that Lightroom 3 had inappropriately put them all inside the existing keyword "climbing", apparently on its own initiative. Now I can't move the keywords out of "climbing" back to normal "unclassified" status so that *I* can arrange them (or not) as I choose.

As soon as I apply a keyword to images they instantly disappear from the collection. This is alright when I only want to apply a single keyword, but how do I stop it happening when I want to apply multiple keywords to the same image(s)?

URL...how to move the origin of a part when you want a common origin for everything. in iv2012 you also get angles about axis, in greyed out boxes.
In a test assembly I can get the offsetting to work, but not the rotations. The part I want to edit origin of is rotated in all three axis.
I am trying to create a parent keyword, but everytime I click the + the name I want ends up in this keyword list? What is this dot after food and drink?
View 1 Replies View RelatedIt seems when I do a search query for an image, the search only searches in the folder that I have selected.
BUT...if I have another folder selected that the image is not in, then the search states there is no image that matches. AND...even if I have the parent folder selected, the search query again replies that there is no image.
Note: this occurs when I have "Show photos in subfolders" selected AND unselected so I don't think this will fix it.
I'd like to be able to truly search my ENTIRE library from just the top parent folder for an image.
I want a keyword hierarchy with "US" as parent keyword of 50 states name keywords. I have many images with state keywords, but I also have some images that are tagged only with "US" but no state tag, as they are not specific to a state.
How do I *easily* find only the images tagged "US" but with no state tags? Clicking on "US" in the keyword panel shows me all images tagged with "US" and all with state tags, but I just want the ones tagged "US".
I can use "Find" to find "US" images NOT CONTAINING "AL AK AR AS AZ..." by enumerating all 50 states, but that's a terribly awkward way filter out images tagged with state names. I can't see a button or filter that shows only the images with a parent tag but without child tags.
I don't seem to have those options (show/hide Parent) when right clicking on folders in the tree. The way I have been organizing in LR4 is by creating a new top level folder and dragging the individual folders into that new folder (within LR).
I will be moving to a new computer soon and want to make sure the move goes well...
In Library module/Folders right click and show parent folder I get the following error
An Internal error has occured: Database .. columns rootFolder, pathFromRoot are not unique
Statement: UPDATE AgLibraryFolder SET rootFolder = ? WHERE id_local = ?;
This error occurs on all folders that I have checked.
I have tried to open lightroom and perform an integrity check which did not report any errors.
Yes, I do backup the catalogue but when this problem developed...
I accidentally deleted my LR4 catalog, which I cannot recover. I have been unable to import folders from the source without all the files appearing as a single batch, i.e: no sub-folders in the import window. Must I import the content of each sub-folder into the corresponding destination folders separately: must I uninstall LR4 and reinstall it so that it can create a new default catalog? What is the process I need to follow in order to import the sub-folders?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am trying to simplify my existing catalog, in order to move it to a new computer and to then upgrade to LR4. When I right click on a top folder, and click "Add parent folder", I do not get a new visible parent folder, and my existing folder disappears from view.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI'have just imported all my photo's. They are mostly already keyworded but I have a slight problem. They range over the last 50 years so I have ended up with 50 "year" keywords, i.e. 1970, 1971, 1972 etc.
In order to tidy this up I though I'd create a "Year" parent keyword and have all those entries as children to it.
This would work bu how could I have a year keyword but not the parent name "Year" in the keyword list? Or at least not have it there when the image is exported.
When I try to create a new parent folder in Library, the naming box comes up with the message, "read only location". What's wrong?
View 2 Replies View RelatedSay I have a keyword "parent" and a nested keyword (subtag) "child" under that keyword. Some photos are tagged with "parent", other are (only) tagged with "child".
Is it now possible to view all photos tagged "parent", but not see the "child" photos at the same time? Either using the keyword list or text filter, I always get to see the "child" photos also...
I know I can exclude certain keywords when searching (ie. "parent !child"), but in my case I'm having about 20 child tags, so it's not very practical to write all 20 keywords as exclusions.
Imported a parent folder with multiple children (20-40) folders. I've adjusted the photos and now want to publish easily to smugmug.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have just installed a new computer when my old one died. I had everything backed up and have managed to successfully restore my lightroom catalogue.
I can see all my photos and all the adjustment history and I can see my library of keywords. However, none of my photos show the key words that I previously assigned to them.
I am not sure whether there is a file that I need to restore from the backup somewhere.
When i try to upgrade to LR5 I see the keywords are missing. Eevn when I import them again, no keywords...With about 275.000 images keyworded in LR3-4...
View 6 Replies View RelatedI am very happy with some 200 keywords that I use in PSE10 under Win7/64 on over 20k images. Is it possible, in LR4, to pick up files with keywords written to metadata, and work with them in LR4 (selection, editing, etc.) WITHOUT damaging or "upgrading" the PSE10 catalog? If yes, could PSE10 pick up keywored changes made in LR4?
Or do you have to commit to one program or the other?
Why do keywords sometimes "jump" out of the master tag folder and line up alphabetically outside their assigned set?

The first thing I'd like to do is move a keyword from its new (incorrect) location as a sub-keyword back to being a parent keyword of a hierarchy. I have tried dragging and dropping it but it immediately returns to its incorrect location. I considered creating a new keyword as a parent keyword (the same word), then open the images linked to the misplaced keyword and drag all the images to the newly created parent keyword. Then empty and delete the misplaced sub-keyword. But...I fear loosing links to collections, vitual copies, etc. for all the images. best method for returning the keywords to their original placement in the hierachy.

The reason I don't want them is that I actually want to re-do all of my keywords/imports. I know it's a big pain, but I feel that it needs to be done, as I've learned how to do things more properly (in theory).

I recently converted from Lightroom 4 to 5. I just noticed that not all my keywords are exported to my jpeg file. For example I have the following keywords in Lightroom; Horizontal, Landscape, National Forest, Scenic. My exported jpeg has only the keyword Landscape.
In the Library Module, when I click on the dropdown Keyword Tags and select "Will Export", I only see the keyword Landscape. I'm not sure what this "feature" is all about. I need to be able to export all keywords.
This problem seems to be consistent and I have a test file set up so I can repeat the problem. Only certain keywords are not exported.
I want to delete some keywords and cant find the source for that task.

2) Select image, export to PS6, save as Tif.
3) Tif retains all Keywords when it appears in LR
4) Despite that, image does not show up in the same 'Search for images using Keywords'.
I recently converted from PC to Mac; downloaded and installed LR4, and it quickly recognized my photos and photo folder structure. Also, apparently each individual keyword has been imported. However, 3 problems:
1. no photos have keywords assigned to them
2. the keyword nested structure (keywords within other keywords) did not transfer, so they are all listed alphabetically
3. I don't see any history on the edited photos, so am not sure if I have originals (unedited) or edited. If I have edited photos, can I go back and re-edit (non-destructive editing in LR)?
