View 7 RepliesI cannot import from my Nikon D300 memory cards, into LR 5.3. I've tried different cards, different cameras, and two different computers with . I've tried restarting both the app and the computers. I've also verified the OS 10.9 hard drive and repaired permission. Still won't import images.
View 2 Replies View RelatedRunning Windows XP Pro and CS2. The Nikon D300 nef format is only available with a CR plug in that is incompatible with CS2. Do I have to upgrade to CS3 or CS4 in order to be able to access my D300 images in a card reader?
View 2 Replies View RelatedRAW files from my D300 and my D600 look completely different. These are both NEF files, imported to Lightroom 4.2 using exactly the same import preset. I did NOTHING to either file, except that the D300 one was at 1/160 second and the D600 one was at 1/200 second, so I changed exposure on the D300 one by 1/3 stop so they would match. What I did was to shoot the D300 picture, then carefully changed the lens over to the D600 without moving anything, changed the D600 to DX mode to match the field of view and shot the same picture. The files should be essentially identical.
This is from the D600:
You will notice that the saturation on the D600 image is much higher. And it's much more yellow. The pictures were shot 2 minutes apart, from the same spot. Same lens, same camera settings.
First thing I did was to change the color temperature and tint to match: from 4150/+6 to 4200/+2. There was no visible change (I'm looking at them in compare mode in Lightroom on a calibrated monitor).
Next, I tried to change the D600 image to match the D300 one. I had to make substantial changes to both color balance and saturation of various colors, as well as contrast and black levels to get close. I'd give you absolute numbers but it varies from image to image. In this case, I had to drop the color temperature to 3500, for instance. The easiest way to do this was to use the white balance eyedropper on a grey area in the road.
I'm wondering if this is related to how LR handles the D600 NEF files. LR 4.2 says the D600 algorithm is 'preliminary'. Could this be part of it?
Deleting files and saving files brings up an error message. Files can't be deleted from lightroom which makes editing a nightmare. Also Saving Files (raw of jpeg), brings up an error message everytime.

View 16 Replies View RelatedI was very happy with the color profiles available in the LR3 version, to use with Nikon raw files (from a D700 camera). I managed to have almost the same color and contrast impression as the ones delivered by Nikon RAW software (Capture NX), using camera standard color profile. And the workflow is thus much easier woth LR3.But lately I discovered some problem for average grey value as seen on the comparaison of the same image processed by the 2 software below :
extract at 100% scale of the image processed by LR (using camera standard profile). The same image processed with Capture NX :You can see that the grey are purple, and event almost green in some areas. I had already noticed few years ago a some problem with LR2, but I thought the problem was gone with LR3. Now it is back with LR3.5 --? This color problem does not happen when using ACR 4.6 rendering in LR, but the global color impression is different. I must had that except from this, the global color rendering is very close to NX.
I'm using X3. I encountered a problem today with captured DV files: I can't open them with VideoStudio. Some weeks ago it was possible to open those files. When I try to import them, VS says: "Unable to open file". I can open them with BSPlayer and Mediaplayer Classic (and sony vegas). With VLC Player there is a message that the file is "broken" but I can still see the video (but audio goes crappy). I've installed shark007's codec pack. I have also tried to reinstall videostudio, but it didn't work. I have a massive project file with many DV AVI files, and I can't see the files.
View 5 Replies View RelatedAwhile back I captured some video from my old DV camcorder. I am finally getting around to it again and noticed some interlace problems with the video. Not sure why it is there in the first place.
The original video was captured using AVI with "DV Video Encoder -- type 1". I tried to re-render the clip using Upper Frame First, Lower Frame First, and Frame-Based with no change. I then tried again with SmartRender turned off. In this case, with Smart Render off and selecting Frame-Based, I was able to eliminate the interlace artifacts. I don't really understand why that worked though?
I was then going to re-render all the clips using Batch Convert, but I don't see an option to disable SmartRender from the Batch Convert dialog. Is there a global setting in preferences to disable SmartRender? I don't want to re-render all clips one-by-one.
Is there an option to use lightroom 3 with Nikon D4 NEF files?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI did a search and couldn't find this issue listed. I convert my Nikon D90 raw files to DNG. Never seem to have a problem with that except that the display(s) seldom shows the results of applying Noise Reduction (Color or Luminance). If my display is at Fit or Fill I don't see the results of what I am doing. If I zoom in to 1:1 or more, then I can see the results. All works fine if I am using a jpg file, it is just the DNG files that do this.
If I want to see the entire picture with Noise Reduction applied I have to switch to the Library Module. Then when I go back to the Develop module the main display goes back to not showing the Noise Reduction, but the secondary display is ok until I apply another effect then boom, back to Noise Reduction not displaying. All of the other changes I make work just fine. It is just the Noise Reduction that causes the problem. This is really a killer when I am working on photos. This problem existsed before 3.6. When I switch to the Library Module it takes a few seconds before the secondary display shows the photo with the Noise Reduction applied.
I have a quad core 2.4ghz with 8gig of ram and Windows 7 Pro 64bit OS. Plenty of CPU and memory available.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have been using Lightroom 3 since 2011 and haven't had any trouble importing Nikon NEF files until today when I got an error message saying, "The follwing files were not imported because they could not be read." I tried importing from several different CF cards so I don't think they are the problem. And I'm using a D700 which is supported by LR3. I also tried uninstalling and reinstalling LR like some have suggested but I'm still getting the same error message.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI am doing some editing work for a magazine. The lead editor had issues with adobe camera raw viewing some of my edits. The xmp files are there but for some reason they are not loading. We narrowed it down to just the Nikon D4 files. I just had her download a trial version of LR4 and we are getting the same issue. The xmp's are there in the same folder as the .nef files. Import into Lightroom, and all D4 files do not show my edits.
We are both running Lightroom 4.3, Camera Raw 7.3.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI just bought a Nikon D600 which is not supported by CS5. I heard that Lightroom 4.2 will support it so I shelled out $199 for that product. Now I see that if I import a raw file into LR, work on it and then try to send it to PS for more editing I can't do that. I am told I have to spend another $199 to upgrade to CS6 because Adobe has no plans to have CS5 support my camera. This is a rip-off. I was told that I can convert all my NEF files to DNG, bring them into LR and then into PS, but "the quality will not be as good".
