Lightroom :: Can't Open 3.6
May 22, 2012I can't open LR 3.6. I shut it down normally and saved my catelogue and now can't re-open the program. I've tried two or three different ways to open it but nothing works.

Lightroom :: Open With / Open As - Links To Photoshop 5.1 Grayed Out
Dec 28, 2011I am working with the latest versions of Photoshop, Lightroom & ACR. A couple of weeks ago I noticed that the links to Photoshop from Lightroom were all grayed out. for example when I right click on an image and select "Open With," it and all of the rest of the links to Photoshop are grayed out and inaccessable. I have been using Photoshop since v2 ansd Lightroom since v1. My operating system in Win 7.
Uninstall and reinstall Photoshop to reestablish the links. I spent about two hours doing that yesterday. when I was done the links were back and functional. I left the compluter on all night to make sure everything was backed up. This morning I opened Lightroom (64bit) and attempted to open an image in Photoshop for editing. All of the links were grayed out again.
So today I uninstalled and reinstalled Lightroom.

Oct 31, 2013I store my new photo files in my own file system (date and order of taking). It is this I want access to not to some new catalogue which Lightroom seems to require. Is there any way to open Lightroom and go to my files without having to create a new catalogue which I do not want or need? Also I have a separate partition for cache for Photoshop CS5 which I also use to finish off my work. Photoshop purges its files when I exit but Lightroom seems to leave files still in there which I then have to delete manually. Am I missing some prefernce which Lightroom will do on closing?

I would like to send a raw file (CR2 or .ORF) from LR using the "Edit In" mode to CS6 and have it open in ACR, or be able to open it in ACR.
I have tried a number of approaches, none have worked. Lightroom support told me I needed to uninstall LR and reinstall.

Feb 19, 2012i just installed LR version 3.6 trial yesterday and it end up failling to upload the previous LR catalog that i install in past and crash,
attach here is the error picture.
i have try to uninstall + reinstall it but same problem occured. The worst part it i have deleted the lightroom catalog permanently in my pictures folder and the img catalog that attach in the pictures.

Jan 30, 2014When I open Lightroom at home it is completely oversized and most of it is off the screen. I am taking a class at the community college where they have Mac's with 27 inch monitors but this is different. It is just like it is zoomed 200% or more and it extends outside the monitor. Lightroom 5.3 with Camera Raw 8.3. It worked fine yesterday at home and yesterday at school. I have adjusted the windows zoom level to 100%.

Jan 2, 2013I have LR4.3 and a Sony A99. I have had no particular problem up until now. I have a handful of .arw files that LR4.3 cannot open.
Lightroom gives an error saying 'failed to find a location for the imported file' for each of them. I've not seen this before - all the other files (before and after) all imported quite nicely. It's just these 6 consecutive .arw files that LR can't read.
I also tried IDC (Sony's raw converter) which read the files quite happily, as did rawdigger. A friend tried Capture One and RawTherapee - also no problem. Then I tried Adobe DNG Converter 7.3 which also failed (It says "the file appears to be an unsupported format") It seems to be just Adobe applications that are struggling.
I even tried copying the files from the SD again, using windows explorer. Still no good.

The pics aren't great or important but if this can happen once, it can happen again and I'd like to get to the bottom of this. The file is a cropped raw file straight from the camera when it was set to APS-C crop mode. I have taken a lot of pics before in this mode and LR took them all with no problem. It's just weird that these few appear to be unsupported...

Feb 26, 2012I can't open a certain LR catalog. It actually opens briefly, but then LR crashes within 5 seconds. No warning or dialog box shows up, the program just disappears.
I can open other catalogs, but these are old and are of no use to me. I have also deleted my preferences, but to no avail.
Is there any way to repair a corrupted catalog if you can't even keep it open?

Aug 28, 2012I just migrated CS6 and LR4 to a new iMac. I then re-installed CS6 from disc because the licensing didn't come over. So far so good. But now in LR4, when enter CMD-E, or choose "open in CS6" from the Edit menu, nothing happens. The file does not open in CS6.

May 8, 2012I need to export a catalogue for a college assignment and burn to CD. The export had a slight hiccup with conflicts in metadata for 2 of the dng files, but I just overwrote the data. The main problem is when I burned the files to CD and tried opening the catalogue on the CD I get the following error:
"lightroom cannot open the catalog named "..." located on volume DVD RW Drive (E:) because Lightroom cannot save changes to this location"
What am I doing wrong? I'm using LR3.4, and running Win Vista on my laptop at home. Is it an issue with my pc? Should I use the Mac's in college instead? I need to know soon as the assignment is due 11 May 2012 (this fri).

Oct 1, 2013I was working on an LR5 catalog yesterday (which I unfortantely didn't back up) and today it won't open. I don't even get an error message or a repair option, all LR does, is open a small grey window. LR is leaving the lock file after I close it down, but even after deleting it and restarting the computer LR won't open the catalog (which is on an external harddrive).

I'm using Windows, so I go to Photo - Edit in - and then Photoshop is greyed out.
