GIMP :: Tablet Pressure Sensitivity Test
Mar 2, 2012
If there is a way of testing the pens sensitivity to pressure in real-time. I can hear it now. "Draw a line dummy."
To be more specific, any tool that can test number of levels of pressure sensitivity that a pen is capable of. I thought for sure I would find some downloadable software somewhere but no luck.
I'm using a Bamboo Pen and interested in how to verify it is in good working condition and reaching it's whopping 512 levels of sensitivity and also whether I'm pressing harder then I need to.

I am using GIMP 2.8, and the brush dynamics do not seem to work. Whenever I use Pressure/Opacity, no matter how hard or light I press, nothing happens to the opacity.
I tested my tablet's pressure sensitivity using the built in pressure test. Everything seems fine. It works fine with Photoshop CS2, but I want to use GIMP.
Everything seems fine when I use Speed/Size & Opacity.
Additional Information:
OS: Mac OSX 10.6.8 Snow Leopard
Tablet: Huion H690
GIMP: 2.8.2

I'm using Photoshop CS6 64-bit with a Wacom Bamboo Pen tablet. I've already tried fixing/resetting the tablet numerous times, and I've come to the conclusion that the problem is with Photoshop, not the tablet. Important points of my problem
Â
1. Whenever I completely reset my computer, photoshop recognizes the tablet and uses it correctly. The problem arises after I close my laptop or unplug the tablet. When I try to use it again, it gives the triangle warning box that says pen sensitivity is not available without a pressure-sensitive tablet.
2. The tablet with Pen Pressure works in Manga Studio 100% of the time. This is why I'm posting this in the Adobe Forums, not Wacom.
Â
I've tried several fixes, I must have reinstalled different versions of my Tablet Driver 10 times at least, it always comes back to this same problem. No matter what I do, it works for awhile, but when I put my laptop to sleep or unplug the tablet, photoshop no longer recognizes it.

My university (ITESM) is using the Citrix plataform to stream to all of us students adobe's photoshop cs6 suite. However I am having issues with it becuase:
Â
1.-it isn't allowing me to upload new brushes (.abr)
2.-nor it detects pressure sensitivity from my tablet.
Â
My other native mac programs like Gimp can detect the pressure sensitivity so it isn't an issue of my MAC.

I am running Photoshop CS5 Extended on my Windows 7 64bit. I recently decided to try a new drawing tablet i got, a rather "offbrand" one. It is the Auro II, made by a company called braVod. While the tablet works great, in Photoshop i cannot get the pressure sensitivity to work. Photoshop is up to date, and I have the latest driver for the graphics tablet (that being said, it was rather difficult to find any driver for the tablet online...).

I have a Wacom Intuos 3 tablet, photoshop CS6 and Windows 7. The pressure sensitivity of my tablet won't work anymore. Roughly, it said to uninstall my wacom driver, unplug the tablet, reboot, install driver, plug in the tablet and reset my preferences in photoshop. I've done this last night and it worked, I was thrilled but it was late, was exhausted,When I turned it back on and went in photoshop this morning it didn't work anymore, pressure sensitivity was gone again. I get this little warning in my brush settings when I try to put it on Pen Pressure or tilt or other setting that requires pressure sensitivity, The only way I can get it to work is with the process I mentioned (uninstalling driver, unplugging tablet, rebooting etc...) but I'd need to do this every time I shut down my computer and that's a bit of a pain..I've also tried installing different drivers, the latest one first, when that didn't work I tried older ones to see if it would make a difference to no avail.

I Bought a Wacom Bamboo Tablet when I first discovered Paint.net and then soon after they removed pressure sensitivity from the software. So now any plugin created for it so I can use my Tablet again.

My tablet is a new Wacom Cintiq Companion with a Windows 8 platform, which I recently got Photoshop Elements 12 for. I use this software mainly for drawing. When I first started using the software everything was fine, but somewhere along the line I noticed that it would randomly loose pressure sensitivity. This occurs more often when I am making short strokes or sketching. I have experimented with other software that I have on my tablet, and am fairly certain that it is a Photoshop Elements problem. It impairs not only drawing but also writing notes.
I tested it out by making a bunch of short lines in a row, and found that it will also sometimes connect two strokes with a straight line (while loosing pressure sensitivity) for no apparent reason. This happens especially while I am writing notes. I also discovered that if I make enough small strokes it will sometimes loose pressure sensitivity entirely. However if I leave the program alone for a couple of minutes and then come back, everything is back to normal.
My tablet is a fairly new model, so I wonder if it is a compatibility issue of some sort (I am only guessing and have no knowledge of problems like this).

I have a Digipro tablet that I'm trying to use with GIMP on Mac OS X. I cannot get the pressure sensitivity to work. I've tried:
1) Setting the Quartz Pen in Input Devices to Screen Mode (also Quartz eraser) so that it will detect the pen.
2) Creating a new dynamic and adjusting pressure settings. The pen is detected but pressure settings aren't applied. Preset pressure dynamics don't work, either.
3) Making sure the pen pressure is working; it works fine in photoshop.
Does GIMP 2.8 not support Digipro?

I'm trying to get the pressure levels for my tablet working right. I want it to increase hardness when I press harder, but instead hardness DECREASES. Is there a way to flip it around? The matrix just seems to be booleans, with only checkmarks or no checkmarks.
Actually, scratch that. Now the pressure levels aren't detecting AT ALL. I have the tablet enabled in Input Devices, and the pen is Pressure-Opacity but nothing changes based on pressure.
I tried this video but the fix did not work.

I'm having one really annoying problem and that its that gimp is not re-sizing the size of brush accordingly to the pressure level it just changes the opacity from low to 100%. I tried going to preferences and configuring but it resets back to previous state and in photoshop tablet works fine.
Tablet is Genius MousePen i608X

As a new gimp and tablet user, I'd had some difficulty making my tablet feel like I wanted it to. After looking at numerous tutorials, I spent a day customizing a brush that would respond well to my tablet's innate pressure sensitivity. The brush worked perfectly that day! Since then, however, I've needed to customize my brushes everyday, and mess with my tablet until the brushes actually respond to pressure sensitivity.I guess the big question is: how do I cause Gimp to recognize my tablet as being pressure sensitive each time I launch it?

I am having problems with my brushes in Photoshop CS4. Everything was fine till recently. I use XP on a PC. I am using a wacom tablet and the brush sensitivity is not working in Photoshop CS4. When I go to the brush drop down or the brush palatte, the brushes are not pressure sensitive for opacity or size as they should be. Yet I have pen pressure selected in shape dynamics & other dynamics. I tried in CS3 which I also have installed and it works fine there and I can use the pen pressure. I spoke with wacom and we updated the driver. Adobe said to reinstall CS 4 which I did…and I still have the problem. BTW, there is a gray exclamation mark next to the shape and other dynamics control drop down window. No one seems to know exactly what this means.I assume it isn't the wacom driver or hardware, as it works fine in CS3. It makes sense to me that the problem is with CS4, but I still have it after reinstalling. Any ideas. I have talked to wacom and adobe multiple times and can't get this resolved.

I have a Calcomp DrawingBoard lll with pressure sensitive stylus which works fine in other applications like Painter 11 but loses its pressure capabilities in CS4 (both AI and PS). The stylus behaves like a mouse but in shape dynamics the pen pressure settings show a warning sign and in AI they are grayed out. It performed correctly in CS3.

I just got my first ever drawing tablet and so I'm having a lot of problems setting up the pressure sensitivity. I have a DigiPro WP5540 and I've installed the driver and the software and everything. In CS6 I go to shape dynamics and it doesn't allow me to do anything. It just has a warning icon next to it:

I'm using a Cintiq 18sx, and its pressure sensitivity is working great in programs such as Flash, but when it comes to photoshop, there is absolutely no brush sensitivity.
I have gone into the brush shape dynamics settings and set it to pen pressure, but finds nothing. I'm not exactly sure what to do now.
This has been a problem since I began using CS3.

Recently installed Photoshop in the office, but the pressure sensitivity is not working on my profile. If I switch to my partner's, it works fine though. All the presets and tablet settings are set the same. I'm really the only one who needs pressure sensitivity and I'm the only one who can't use it on their profile.

Â
I do my daily Photoshop session with my Wacom Intuos 4, then randomly later, sensitivity of the pen turns off. The only way to recover the problem is to reboot Photoshop and sometime the whole system.Â
Â
why it doing that?
Â
I downloaded the latest Wacom drivers and Photoshop CS4 is up to date and the problem still persist.

I bought a Wacom cintiq 22hd online and before it arrived I imagined before it came that all I would have to do is plug it in and install the software and that would be it but no....Â
This turned out to be a real nightmare to use, first after I finished calibrating the tablet this annoying loading circle kept appearing around the point every time I tried to draw something, Then after I had been able to fix it from running around the internet looking for solutions the pressure sensitive feature stopped working I looked around again to find a solution and people were saying update the driver software and I did then after rebooting my machine it no longer works and every time i tried to view the tablet settings it kept saying "THE TABLET DRIVER WAS NOT FOUND"
I had to uninstall the driver and recalibrate it and the pressure sensitive feature still isn't working. Personally I think this is complete BS I can't understand why Wacom a highly regarded company would delibratelly make their tablets more complicated to use than they need to be, I really am clueless as to what I can do to fix this I don't think reinstalling the "WacomTablet_635-3" driver software. What I can do I am using Windows 7 64 bit
Well because i went to the wacom forum site to try and get some answers but when I went to go sign up for an account it kept saying that my criteria was invalid even though it wasn't another reason to loose faith in Wacom and their useless business structure and unuseful customer support.

I have just purchased a Microsoft Surface Pro in anticipation of running Photoshop on it. I installed Photoshop and tried to do some sketches. I created a new file and started sketching. I Immediately felt like something was wrong. I checked my brush settings and saw the pressure sensitivity was not available. Everytine I tried to turn it on it was marked with an exclamation point.Â
Â
Does Adobe is supporting the new pressure sensitive pen from microsoft, or if there is some sort of setting that I am missing? I have tried sketchbook pro 2011, and that works amazingly well with the pen.Â

After installing photoshop cc on my dell venue 8 pro, the program refuses to register the pressure sensitivity of the active pen display. The device is running windows 8.1 and uses the synaptic pen technology as opposed to wacom. Is there any way for me to force photoshop to either look for the default windows drivers or better yet get proper support for synaptic?
