AutoCAD Visual LISP / AutoLISP :: Passing A Point To Zoom Not Working?
Jul 25, 2012
The good news is that, if I were righting a routine that locks up AutoCAD, I'm finished. The bad news is that I'm not.
The code below is the portion of a routine where I have the user select 2 points and then pass those points to the Zoom command and the M2P osnap. The problem is that, when the Mid Between 2 Points osnap tries to use the first point, it returnns an "Invalid point" message, enters a loop and locks ACAD.
(defun C:ZC ()
(setq PointOne (getpoint "First point of M2P "))
(setq PointTwo (getpoint "Second point of M2P "))

I have a drawing with various layouts that when I do a Zoom Extents the drawings is reduced to the size of a point.
I have done all the usual, ie: look for extra entities that are "out in space" so to speak and there are none.
I wonder if I have a block or image which may have an insertion point "out in space" and if this may be the issue.
Is there some way to Select all entities or Blocks (insertion point) that may exist outside a particular area ie: drawing limits.

I would like to use a string as a variable if this is possible. I've got:
new-pl-lay (as a variable that holds layer name "UGL_PL_NEW")
first-cable (as a string that holds "new-pl-lay")
I'd like set the current layer to "UGL_PL_NEW" by using the first-cable string.
Something like:
(command "_.layer" "m" (read first-cable) "")

Writing a routine that stores a file name as a string in variable FILE.I check the variable and it returns a nice quoted string: "filename-123.dwg"
I would like AutoCAD to open the file w/out user input.With FILEDIA set to 0, I've tried passing the variable to the command line:
(command "open" FILE)
or in a script as:
open
(FILE)
...
or,
open
!FILE
...
I get the same error. The string dumps to the command line and I get 'Unknown command "DWG" .'

I have a list function that asks for the user to pick points when it is run. It looks something like this (foo arg1 arg2) When invoked it asks the user to pick points and press enter when done It.
Instead of getting the points from the user i want to pass it a list of pre-defined points. The code cannot be changed so I must use it as is.Is this possible, if so how can it be done?

I'm currently working in a drawing that has 148 layout tabs and I frequently work in drawings with more tabs than that. when I switch tabs, I like to see everything in the tab. Is there a lisp that will do a zoom extents in every tab so I don't have to manually do it all the time?

I just started learning LISP yesterday, as our office needs an autosave LISP. People have requested it and I have to do it...
How I wanted to do it:
The LISP will be loaded on every PC of every person with AutoCAD.
On startup "command_count" will be on 0
When using a command like plinie this happens: (+ 1 command_count)
Commands like zoom, undo etc will be ignored
When command_count reaches 20 it executes the qsave command
If using the qsave command it resets the command_count to 0
Thats my not working LISP atm:
(defun c:losave ()(setq command_count 0)(+ 1 command_count)(if command_count 10 "_qsave"));(if command "_qsave" setq 0);(if command "_zoom" (- 2 command_count));(if command "_undo" (- 2 command_count));(if command "_qsave" (* 0 command_count));(setq command_count (+ 1 command_count))

can do a routine that zooms into a coordinate, based on input. So for 1A, it would zoom into the coordinate for 1A.
1A = 1,1
1B = 1,2
1C = 1,3
1D = 1,4
I will try to attempt one shortly and will post it within 1 hour.

I'm trying to find acceptable point values to feed to the vlax-3d-point function for a vla-addmtext function. With vanilla lisp I just provide the point as x y = "7/32" "2-3/8". So I assumed that I could drop a 0 in for the z like: (VLAX-3D-POINT "7/32" "2-3/8" 0).
Then I thought I was going to be tricksy and try (vlax-3D-point (getpoint)) believing that I could pick the point and get what I need to feed the function, but yet again, no deal. The command line gave me:
node
of #<variant 8197 ...>
Nothing I can use in my code. So how do I find the point in a format that vlax-3d-point will like?

I have used Autocad since 1991, and my current job required me to use Microstation. One feature I liked from Microstaiton is the ability to select and open an external DGN reference, and then match the view of the parent DGN. In AutoCAD, you can also select and open an xref, but the DWG opens to the previous saved view, and not to the desired view that matches the layout.
My thought was to experienting with lisp or scipt and export the "Viewctr", "Viewtwist" and "Viewsize" variables to a text file, then importing the text file and using the "Viewtwist" as my "SNAPANG" value, then "Viewctr" as my "ZOOM, CENTER" value, and finally the "Viewsize" as the "Enter magnification or height:" value.
But, alas, have no time, and not quite the knowledge to duplicate MicroStation's open-xref-and-zoom-to-view feature.

I still want it to have its normal behavior while in a command, but when not in a command it still enters the selection mode, which does not work, but if it would enter a zoom window command, it might be a more useful command.

Find attached 2 files , a DWG and a LISP
The dwg show a LWpoly, and 3d-poly.
I try to get the param at the closest point, from each vertex at the LW, at the 3d-poly
But as you will see, for some closests point at the 3d-poly there, is no Param
Check at

know a lisp routine that would insert a block @ a specific point on an arc? For instance if I have an arc that has a radius of 20'-0" & I want to insert a block at a set distance from the end of the arc.i could probably use the divide or measure command but I was hoping I could do it with lisp. I would also like to be able to move the object along the path of the arc at a specific distance.

I have a small app to create, related to point clouds.
I know VisualLISP pretty well, definitely well enough to accomplish the task.but...I can't figure out how to retrieve information on the point cloud's clipbox using lisp.
I know a little VB.NET; I took a one-semester class at the JC, two years ago. It's going to take time for me to get ramped up enough with VB to do this job, so I don't really want you to tell me the only way to get to the clipbox is through vb.
way to retrieve and modify a point cloud's clipbox with VisualLISP?

I need a routine that inserts a point at the insert point or block named "Insert_Point" at every block in the file. The routine could use the current layer, which would be set prior to starting the routine. If it could request the user for the PDMode value and PDSize that would be great too. This will assist me in creating block libraries.

I am writing a routine that will place a piece of text at a specified point along a polyline. My problem is to determine the angle for the text. It needs to be the same as the segment of the polyline that it falls on. Just can't get my head around how to get that angle?
I can get a list of the vertex point of the polyline, but how do I determine the segment the point falls on?

I'm wondering if there is a lisp possible to measure area's by pick point (as in bpoly). This little feature exists in Microstation so i was looking for something similar.
Is it also possible if this lisp can measure areas from an external reference (dwg, dxf, dgn, shp etc..)? I'm kind of new to AutoCAD in that sence.

How can I find a block with a specific name and get what the coordinates are? What we have is our Bill of Material is attributed blocks. I am attempting to change the first one. Well all of the lines that list the parts are seperate blocks with the same name. Now the Top Line of the Bill of Material is a different named block. If I can find the coordinates of this block I can then select the first line to do what I need to.
