AutoCAD Inventor :: Editing A Content Center Library
Feb 15, 2012
I'm trying to fix up the iproperties of a content centre item. However the part has been used before and saved in Vault. I have edited the library and then when I tried to use a part from the library, the part is just pulled from Vault, hence not having the edits on it. I tried a part that hasn't been used before and it works ok. How can I force it to rebuild from the content center so I can save over the copy in Vault?
I had a ipart that i already published into the content center library, how do i go back and edit the model? not all the published data but the ipart model its self
if i have created a custom content center library, where all content center parts use my material "Steel XYZ", is there a way to use it in old assemblies that use a no custom content center library?
I mean, i have 100 assemblies that use bolt with Steel Mild material... can i change that material changing the content center library and using mine that use "Steel XYZ"?
how I can install the 'Other' library content into the Content Centre?
I need the Australian Standards content but I was unaware that it didn't install automatically when I installed Inventor software, and from what I've read it's contained in the 'Other' library which I was also unaware you needed to install.
How can I solve the problem without uninstalling/ reinstalling? I'm using the downloaded Student version.
I created custom library by coping iso read only library. Then edited custom library family table and created extra columns (for custom iproperties) for company purpose BOM. This columns needs to be updated from time to time with new part numbers.
When I update part numbers and hit apply it tells me that published successfully to selected library. Then i go to iproperties of updated parts and this update is not showing up.
I am facing problem with editing content center library. Find attached file for more details. soft ware is asking for read / write library. I have 2011 version there is only read only option.
If you forgot to install DIN libraries during your original configuration:
Directly from your installation media, copy the relevant IDZ file to the Content Center library location on your PC. The IDZ file is an archived (zipped) IDCL file.
The question is, how I supposed to extract this zipped file?
I'm trying to automate my drawing creation but i've run into a problem. In my code it takes the document collection object and iterates through and creates a drawing for each part and assembly the problem is i need it to skip the files from my library and content center since they dont require drawings. Here is the
Public Sub CreateDrawing() 'get documents collection object Dim invDocs As Documents Set invDocs = ThisApplication.Documents 'iterate through documents in collection [code]........
I have a part published in my content center that was not authored with Tube & Pipe connections. I was wondering if there was a way to edit that part and re-publish it, or would I have to delete it from my Content Center.
I'm having some problems giving certain parts in my assembly a unique file name. Im reorganizing all of my projects in a
- content center - designs - libraries
way, where my projects are under designs and commonly used parts under libraries.
Now i have something like a pump. I can derrive this assembly into a solid and put it in the content center, or keep the assembly and put it in the libaries folder. since this is a part i use in multiple projects.
Now my problem is that this pump has a different name in every project, and a library part doesn't allow me to change this name. Say standard name is "centrifugal pump" while the name in project 1 would be P101, while in project 2 it has to be named P501 and so on in order to match with the flowcharts.
Is my only option here creating a solid out of these components and putting it all in my content center ( leaving my libraries folder totally empty ), adding it as a custom part afterwards ( so i can rename it ). I rather have it in my library folder, since this will keep my design folder organized without hundreds of duplicates of this pump, using different names. Besides i rather have it as an assembly so i can assign the connecting tubes of the pump to different sub assemblies of piping.
Different example, a butterfly valve excists out of 3 parts. the valve itself, and 2 connecting tubes. possible to dissemble. all 3 parts need to have the same file naming say XV900. 1 side of the valve needs to be assigned to pipe-01 while the other side of the valve needs to be assigned to pipe-02. Content center doesn't allow me to split files, but allows me to use unique file names. A library party allows me to split files ( if not read only ) but doesn't allow me to change names.
I've been tasked to turn our 2D cad dwgs to 3D in inventor.
I'm working on a frame at the moment, I got all the square and rectangular tube from the CC and constrained them to match the CAD dwg, now I need to add the mounting holes but if I add holes to one copy all the copies get the holes.
What option can I use to make each instance stand alone?
Because my company is setup such that it has 3 companies operating under one roof and multiple MRP systems we have components that could have different part numbers depending on which company is in posession of it. As a design Engineer I need to be able to produce production drawings for all 3 divisions and provide production personnel the appropriate part #s for the items depending on where in the process the item is.
The Eng. Dept. acts across all companies the designs are controlled in a single place. I have created Custom Content Center Libraries for the different companies for standard items like nuts, bolts, etc...
How can I choose which Custom Conent Center Library my parts come from?
2013 Product Design Suite Ultimate Windows 7 Sp1 Intel(R) Core (TM) i5-2400 @ 2.00GHz 6.00 GB of RAM AMD Radeon HD 6570
After editing a value in the Family Table in the Content Center Editor I still get the old value. I tried to refresh this Content Center part (as administrator) but without succes.
In the logfile the error message is: "Failed: Unable to create part file. Unknown error."
Earlier (probably with older version of Inventor) I was able to refresh.
Is this a bug, or has this something to do with false settings
Publishing parts to C Center or Editing tables in C Center Crashes Inventor Prof 2014
Before i say anything let me say that this problem occured last night. Was always there as i had not used the feature before in 2014. I uninstalled ONLY Inventor from the suite and re installed. It worked !!
Tonight i was publishing new parts and then Inventor crashed. Since its crashed again i cant publish or edit part family tables to make additions etc with Inventor crashing.
I believe something has corrupted again within the Inventor 2014 install and i dont know what.
Im looking for some pointers as i dont really feel like uninstalling and reinstalling Inventor to fix it.
I have cleared the cache from users folders etc. Im guessing i need to clear some thing else as well. This crashes in both Vault and local CC files.
I used to use the BSI content fine in my old version of Inventor, but on this years version there appears to be no BSI content. I have tried reinstalling the content center and all of the options are selected but still no BSI?
I'm using a student version of inventor 2013, and i'm trying using the content center for add bolts at my project, but all the components are unable for my use, because everything are marked as read only.
How can i do for use these components? and other question, how can i create account at vault?
We have an extensive library of parts that we consistently utilize, but we do use Content Center for hardware and routed systems components.
All of our library parts have our company ERP's item number in the stock number iProperty, and the ERP's description in the Comments iProperty.
For CC items, we have added columns for these and mapped them to the appropriate iProperty.
Everything works great except for one thing.
Many of our ERP descriptions inlude inch marks, foot marks, and the & symbol. For our normal library parts thhis is not an issue. However, CC items utilize these characters differently. The result is our descriptions come out different that what is entered.
See the example below...
How to include these characters in the CC descriptions?
At my company we currently have a huge number of Autocad deployments for 2010,2011,2012. Right now our deployments weren't setup to include the content centers. I have installed 2012 Inventor on my personal computer as a trial version to grab the .idcl files. I was wondering if I would be able to just drag and drop these onto a server and have my co-workers point to the file location within inventor itself via options>content center>etc.
Two computers with Inventor Pro 2011 on them, same set up in Apllication Options/Content Center and Apllication Options/File. On one Inventor sees Content Center on the other does not. What could be the problem?
Installed 2014 recently, and now my Content Center has nothing in it. The "Place from Content Center" window loads, and there are no folders. My item count is 0. I've attached a screen shot for reference. Clicking the refresh button does nothing.
We have no custum hardware/materials/etc.
If I try to update the content center library (step 2), the Configure Libraries is full of "Not Available"s. Again, I've attached a screen shot. I'm nervous to continue migrating with out all that info.
There are two pc's with IV, and the content center is working fine on the other pc. The CC is a local thing, and only my computer seems to be upset.
I just created an empty Fastenal Library, and it is set to Read/Write. We order most of our fasteners from them, but not much else, so I used "Copy Category Structure To" Fastenal. I created a plain washer to add to the library, but when I try to publish it, I can't get it to work.
When I "Publish Part," I select Fastenal and English, then am asked to select a category to publish to. The Washers folder is greyed out, along with most other folders, but the Ball sub folder is not. I can't select Plain, which is what I need, but I can select Ball.
Also, is there a way to delete sub folders? I right click on Pins or Rivets, and the option to Delete Category is greyed out.
I have been working on creating custom content center families that will populate our company's part numbers and descriptions into the browser and drawing BOM. I have been quite successful in this except with the material. I've created custom materials for the fasteners that have the specified strengths and finishes per the fastener. By doing this I've created a different problem.
How can I create a custom property that will insert a specified value for material into the BOM? I've tried to change the link for Project.Material and then the part inserts as Inventor's default. I don't think creating individual material styles for each fastener is a viable one since I'll end up with duplicate style names.
IV 2012 Running on: Windows 7 64 bit 12 GB Ram Intel Xeon processer
I am using content center for fasteners I want for my assembly. However, when I close the assembly drawing and try to reopen it, the link has been lost between the assembly and the fasteners and I am unable to find them.
I have created a project file before I start the assignment thinking this will solve the linkage problem but no luck.
I'm trying to create a custom Content Center bolt that can be one of three different materials (6.8, 8.8, 10.9). The materials are stored in our Styles Library, and the project specifies "Use Styles Library = Yes"; so the three materials are visible from the Content Center Editor. The Material column in the Content Center Editor is defined to "Map To Inventor Property: Project.Material". Everything looks fine. But no matter what material I select, I get 6.8.
I've already got LOTS of parts published with custom materials and they all work fine, but the big difference is that these families are all the SAME material. I'm having problems with getting a family to use DIFFERENT materials. We're using Inventor 2009.
I'm looking for a 2" x 1" x 3/16" bar channel in the Content Center but I cannot find anything smaller than 3" x 1.41" x 0.17". I've been looking under Structural Shapes > Channels. Am I missing content from the Content Center? Or does this just not exist in the Content Center?
