AutoCAD Inventor :: Changing Instances In Parts After Updating Table Driven IFeature

Oct 2, 2012

I noticed some errors in certain table entries in an i Feature of mine after I had already started creating parts using it. I've updated the table and when I add new instances of the feature to my part they work fine, but the existing instances of it stay the same size. Is there any way to force the existing instances to update?

The i Feature in question is a sketch and I'm using Inventor 2012, if either of those is relevant.

AutoCAD Inventor :: Table Driven IFeatures In A Hole Table?

Oct 16, 2013

I have a part where I have placed a number of table driven iFeatures.  These features generate parameters in the model that I can see in the parameter table.  I am trying to find a way to have these iFeature parameters show up in the hole table in my drawing.

By 'exporting' the parameters, I have been able to get the values to show in notes and drawing view labels but I can't find a way to add them as a 'New Property' in my hole table.

AutoCAD Inventor :: Showing Two Instances Of Parts List And Adding Custom Parts

Mar 30, 2012

On the main sheet of my drawing I have the overall Parts List.  Shows almost all parts except for the few that we don't want to list.  On the second sheet I inserted a Parts List to show only parts that are shown in a detail on that page, made the rest non-visible.

On the main sheet there is an item (#13) that has a QTY of 3.  Two of those Three are optional parts.  What I'm trying to do is insert a custom part into the Parts List, give it an item number of 13A and put in the description "OPTIONAL", then do an Override in the balloon to show 13A.

I get it in the Parts List, Apply it, close it, save the drawing.  Looking at the Parts List, item #13A is there, but item #14 is gone.  I go back into the Parts List and 13A is there and there's a blue box around the item # and the description.  I uncheck Static Value and number 14 shows up (item # and the description).

Then I go over to sheet two, open that Parts List and it lists 13A at the bottom with all the info I added in sheet one and it's non-visible.  Go back to sheet one, open the Parts List and there is no 13A to be found.

AutoCAD Inventor :: Driven Dimension Not Automatically Updating

May 2, 2012

I have a driven dimension in the attached part. If I change something in the part that affects the dimension it won't update unless I double click it to get the edit dimension dialog and then confirm it.

Changing the contour flange's length will affect the driven dimension which can be found in sketch5 under cut1.

AutoCAD Inventor :: IFeature Fails When Making Table?

Aug 23, 2012

I'm trying to make an Ifeature of SAE ports and I can make the Ifeature just fine but when I try making a table for the different size it fails.

I attached the base part I extracted the Ifeature. The two sizes I edited in the table SAE #2 and #6 both fail while the original size SAE #8 (and all the other unedited sizes) work.

the forum doesn't seem to like .ide files which is the ifeature file

Update: Well it seems changing the thread size fixes the part about the ifeature not working properly. However if I try moving the ifeature it fails. I'm guessing some geometry isn't "following" the base feature.

AutoCAD Inventor :: ILogic Driven Part Not Updating After Parameter Change

Jul 26, 2013

I have a flange that I use iLogic and the parameters list to update the different styles. My problem is that my flange won't update until after I hit save and update. My other square flange is not this way. As soon as I change the parameter in my square flange it immediately updates. Is there anyway I can get my round flange to update immediately like my square flange? I attached pictures below.

AutoCAD Inventor :: Hide Cell Borders In Table Driven By Excel?

May 18, 2012

I am using a link to an .xls worksheet to populate a General Table in my .idw (Inventor 2012).  See attached.  The blank space underneath the first lines of information will always be blank, no matter how many rows we get.  Is there a way to have the drawing hide the blank/empty cells, make the borders invisible, etc?

I have tried using the Insert Object for an Excel file instead of using the Table feature, but it does not appear to be an updatable link.  As in, if I change data in my .xls file, it won't update the inserted object to the same info.

AutoCAD Inventor :: How To Represent Parts List And Ballooning As Different Single Instances

Mar 2, 2012

I am wondering when in the idw and have multiple parts some the same and some different. I would like to distinguish between each part as a different part or balloned so they all have a different ref number.

example: have part A and part B and part C

part A has three different instances in the iam

part B has two

part C has four

How do I represent them in parts list and ballooning as different single instances?

part A- ballooned like- 1, 2, 3

part B- ballooned 4,5

part C- ballooned 6,7,8,9

AutoCAD Inventor :: Updating Custom Table Sources

Sep 5, 2013

updating the source of a custom table in a drawing. I wrote a design copy rule that takes a template "module" and saves all the files off into the customer's project folder. This latest module has an orientation chart that details the location of key features and is displayed on the drawing. We're driving the chart using an external excel file. I can get the reference in the assembly to update with no problem by just telling the driving rule to look for an excel with matching project and assembly numbers in the same folder as the assembly.

However, when I try and update the reference in the drawing, I can get the "3rd Party" link to change, but it doesn't change the actual link in the table. Here's a pic of the tree and my part of the current code. How can I make it update the actual link?

TryDim oSht As Sheet = oDwgDoc.Sheets.Item(1)Dim oChart As CustomTable = oSht.CustomTables.Item(1) MsgBox(oChart.Title)Dim oChartDesc As FileDescriptor = oChart.ReferencedDocumentDescriptorchartDocName = oDwgDoc.ReferencedDocumentDescriptors.Item(1).FullDocumentNameIf chartDocName.Contains("OrientationChart") ThenMsgBox("The dude contains")End If orientChartName = Left(iProperties.Value("Custom", "OldName"),

AutoCAD Inventor :: Rev Table Column Width Not Updating From Style Library

Sep 29, 2011

I use a style library. Have it in a read-only mode in the ipj file. My drawing created a new template with a rev table with required columns.

Now, I create a new drawing file and choose this template. add few views, insert a rev table. The rev table columns headings are the same as in the template. But the column widths aren't same as in the template.

I use manage->update. It warns me that the drawing would be matched as per the style library. I agree & OK.

No use, the columns are not same size? Though the style is read only from the drawing, I go to open the style editor to check the column widths. They are different from the template.

AutoCad :: Dynamic Blocks Able To Be Table Driven?

Jul 24, 2012

I have been working with dynamic blocks lately and I am fascinated with the tool and its capabilities. However, something that I have not been able to figure out and not sure if its this is doable ---->

Can you make a dynamic block table driven, say from an excel table?

For example, lets say you have a dynamic block with parameters/actions set up that allow you to set the width, length, height, distance from edge, # of object arrays, etc. Rather than grabbing each grip and specifying the desired dimension, can you make it so the dynamic block is table driven? such as, where you might have a list of desired dimensions (say in excel) and you want to quickly input them into a table in autocad, so that the dynamic block will adjust to those dimensions?

AutoCAD Inventor :: How To Modify Part Without Updating Linked Parts / Assemblies / Drawings

Nov 12, 2012

I have several parts which I wish to modify, but, those modifications are only being done to get some prototypes made. I do not want the changed (non-approved part) to be used in current issue drawings, assemblies etc. until I have proven the modifications and am happy with them.

I can do this by doing a save as on the part and could just replace the previous design, but then I lose the history of changes/revisions shown in Vault which is critical to me and part of using vault in the first place.

AutoCAD Inventor :: How To Setup Parts List Table

Dec 18, 2011

I'm having a difficult time finding exactly how I set up the parts list table. I'm thinking that I must have the wrong terminology when searching.

A background on exactly what I am trying to accomplish. I am a cabinet maker and have made the final decision to use Inventor for my design program. I'm taking the self learning method and I get most of it, I feel like I'm on the edge of a breakthrough, but I seem to be stuck on the parts list and getting the information I need.

For a basic example, a shaker door. It has 5 parts; 2 stiles, 2 rails and a flat panel. I need to have the dimensions pop up in the parts list for all my pieces. Just basic length, width, depth, dado, etc. I guess that I felt it would be a piece of cake to configure Inventor, but for the life of me, I cannot find the information I need to go from a part file to shop drawings with dimensions and details.

I also need to make sure that I can get the driven dimensions to show up, since the rails (to the best of my knowledge) have to have driven dimensions. I assume that this is possible.

What I am trying to accomplish is something like what cabinet vision produces for documents. I chose inventor for the flexibility of design since I do some unusual things with cabinetry and cabinet vision just can't handle it.

AutoCAD Inventor :: Changing The Revision Table Rev Link?

Mar 13, 2012

I have a situation where I just created brand new drawing templates and they have the revision block inthem already.  The revision block that comes with Inventor.  The vault is driving the revision in the titleblock and when the revision is placed in the revision block it too is linked to the vault. When the drawing is checked into the vault and the lifecycle is changed to "Released" and then back to "WIP" the revision updates.  Both in the titleblock (which I want) and in the revision block which I don't want.  Not only is it change the revision block, but the last revision posted as per the image below.

how do I change the property in the settings of the title block to not get it's revision from the vault or allow it to be manually driven?

AutoCAD 2010 :: Updating An Existing Table

Mar 24, 2012

I'm attempting to create a table within autocad that I can update as I add new things to my drawing.

I have a ton of dblocks that carry attributes with them, and I want to be able to have the table in autocad populate with the information from each insertion.

The table in autocad will be linked to an excel spreadsheet that should also be updated (either as a separate action or automatically... not sure what would be better).

The table in excel will go through a system of formula that will divide it up into useable groups for me. How do I update a table within Autocad, instead of having to create a new table every time I want to add data to the extraction information?
