AutoCAD Inventor :: Assign Keyboard Keys To Drive Constraints
Nov 3, 2011Is it possible to assign keyboard keys (or joystick control) to drive constraints either in a model assembly or in the dynamic simulation environment?

View 9 RepliesI need to drive more than one constraint at a time. The assembly consist of a hydraulic ram that pulls a cable which is routed around a few pullys and then pulls another linear moving member. I don't really care about modeling the cable right now, I just want the cylinder piston and the final member to move in unison. I can only drive one constraint at a time, so I figured I could relate the two constraints together by setting them equal to a parameter (variable), but that isn't working. Is it me or is driving multiple constraints at a time something that would be very useful for a lot of applications?

View 9 Replies View RelatedI have just noticed that while in Isometric view I can Pan an item in the window by pressing the arrow keys on a keyboard. One thing however is that to pan to the right side of the screen I have to press left arrow key. It is sort of pressing the "wrong" key to get the model slide to the "right" direction.

I have an assembly, with only one adaptive part, i have activate contact set for other 3 parts (not the adaptive part), activated contact solver and drive the constraints, but in the animation contact solver doesn't work at all.
So, i have tried to move manually the assembly (suppressing angular drive constraint) and the contact solver works fine.If i suppress the adaptive part the driving constraint and contact solver work perfect.
So i wonder... adaptive part can annoying the contact solver functionality?
Is it possible to assign hot keys to all commands in a customisable way? For example if i want to draw a line, can i just hit 'L'? instead of 'L + space'
View 9 Replies View RelatedI'm modeling cables running through a series of cable clamps. I'm working in an assembly with my structure as one part, clamps as seperate parts, and cables as separate parts. I modeled the clamps first and am using them to create my 3d spline to run the sweep. The clamps have moved several times and each time, the sweeps (cables) do not update to follow the new clamping path. I have tried multiple ways of solving this.
I've tried to redo the splines using "Include Geometry" and running the spline through the centers of the clamps. I've also deleted the constraints (which for some reason turn into fixed) and reapplied them as coincident constraints. However, once I setup these coincidences, they always change back to fixed.
In a last ditch method, I've created 2d sketches at EVERY clamping location (yes that's alot of sketches, time and effort) and projected the circular geometry to get a center point. This has seemed to work, but is so much work, there's no way we could use it regularly.
I'm wondering, to what extent can I customise my shortcut keys on my keyboard? Example, currently AC has "C" set to CIRCLE, and "CO" or "CP" as COPY. Id like to assign "C" to COPY instead as I use it constantly and would work quicker this way. Is it possible?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI'd like to assign keyboard shortcuts
Layer panel window
cmd-l : lock selected layer or group
cmd-alt-l: unlock selected layer or group
cmd-alt-c: copy layer style
cmd-alt-v: paste layer style
Copy layer style is listed in the keyboard shortcuts dialog. For some reason it wants to raster shape layers so that's totally unusable.
I'd like to reassign "command=option-shoft-g" to an action I have created that will speed up my workflow tremendously. All my function keys are allocated already.

System preferences will not let you add shortcuts to Illustrator.
Illustrator doesn't seem to let you assign shortcuts to items in the script menu.
When I draw the detail line (DL), Is there a way to switch from straight line to spline line quickly? It's difficult to keep moving the mouse to the toolbar to change the line type.
I tried to assign a keyboard shortcut to the spline line but it didn't seem to work.
I'd like to assign keyboard shortcuts to items under the Colors tab. Is it possible and if so, how?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI notice that some of the shortcuts/hot keys don't work. For example, one basic hot key that does not work is the F7-key. The F7-key opens and closes the layers palette.
Another hot key that does not work is the spacebar. My teacher taught me to hold the spacebar down when you want to move the canvas around. When I am in handtool mode I hold the spacebar down, I then apply pressure on my laptops touchpad, I then slide my finger across my laptops touchpad in order to try and move the canvas, but the canvas does not budge.
Some shortcuts work. For example, tapping the F-key multiple times will expand and reduce the size of Photoshop.
Closing my web browser did not resolve the problem. Updating the software did not resolve the problem.
Toshiba X75 / Windows 8 / i7-4700MQ / GeForce GTX770M / 32GB RAM
and not just a brush tool? im looking through the menus and only see keyshortcuts for the tools themselves,
i am (beginner) digital painter, so being able to switch from the different types of brushes by pressing one key on the keyboard would speed up my work flow an unspeakable amount.
Having issue like loosing all of your shortcut keys in max? I have them all assigned in the Customize > Customize User Interface>Keyboard Tab but they are all inactive, forcing me to work like a snail with my left hand in my pocket. I've gone and checked for the shortcut files, done a RESET to max settings, Reloaded the UI, Restarted the computer, can't remember anything else I can to to sort it out.
Changing views (Top/Side/Left/Zooming) becomes painstakingly slow...
I am trying to find a way to assign keyboard shortcuts for different selection sets functions/commands.
I failed to find selection set commands in customize user interface menu. seems that they named it in a manner so that people cant find them when they simply look for "selection" or "set" or "create selection set" or "make selection set" .
what I need is:
1. when I select a group of objects I want to make them a selection set with one keyboard shortcut. (to go to the sets menu window and press that "create a selection set" button is too time consuming. I am also aware that just writing a letter to the selection sets dialog creates a set but still I want that shortcut.)
2.select an object and immediately jump to the whole selection set with a keyboard shortcut. or toggle through selection sets.
3.delete the active selection set with one keyboard shortcut.
are these functions available as native commands in customize user interface?should I go looking for a maxscript ?
I've a few local adjustment brush presets i tend to use a lot.Now i was wondering if it is possible to assign keyboard shortcuts to them for a faster workflow?

View 10 Replies View RelatedMy keyboard has a zoom key with + and - selections. I use to use this key in drawings to zoom in and out when in the AutoCAD application when we had Windows XP. Now that I have Windows 7 I can't do this. I can't find out how to assign this key on the Microsoft Keyboard interactive software either. I have the other keys assigned as desired.
Can I still use my keyboard zoom key to zoom in and out in drawings? If so, how do I set this up in AutoCAD, or do I need to do this through a Microsoft keyboard application?
Why do we not have the "=" (equals) constraint option in 3D Sketch mode? It seems like a very basic need for a constraint. Is there a reason why one should NOT want to have an "equal" constraint in a 3D Sketch?
View 3 Replies View RelatedAll I need to do for now is to align one part to the center axis of another part. Later I will constrain but for now I just need to see where the two meet so I can project geometry onto a draw surface. So, all I need to do is make their central axes coincide on one straight line.
I can achieve the same result by counting the various lengths but I'm hoping there's a simpler solution.
Assume a beam like the one in the picture below.
How must I configure the constraints?
The left constraints should be a "Fix constraint" on the edge(not the face) I assume.
But the right constraints must not fix all DOF's.
How can I configure the right constraint?
I've just installed 2012 and I seem to have a problem with constraints.
The basic problem is that the SHOW CONSTRAINTS command doesn't show the constraints for geometry that clearly has them. For example, if you delete a horizontal constraint from a line and then add a horizontal constraint to the same line, the line will be constrained but the constraint will not show up.
is it possible to copy and paste parts in an assembly but also keeping any constraints set on the part?
I.e. if I had a square block constrained to a flat face of a floor, when I copy and paste the block many times I would like all the copy blocks to still be constrained to the floor.
Is there a way to get a list of constraints that exist between two parts in an assembly?
It will take forever to go through each and every constraint for one of the parts, checking the "Other Half" of each just to find all constraints between to specific parts.
I'm trying to build a c# program where I can test a simulation for a robot project I have made angle constraints in inventor and now I want to be able to send numbers to specific joint.
With the code listed below I can get all the constraints from a selected part and get the name of the specific constraints.
I find it confusing that most of the documentation is in VB so this is what I have discovered on my own, perhaps this isn't at all the way to do it.
Inventor.SelectSet selSet=asmDoc.SelectSet;
try

Trying to create a gimbal with a supporting frame, an outer square frame, and an inner square frame. when i insert the outer square frame into the supporting frame, i constrain it so that the axis of the hole i have drilled in my frame and the axis of the hole through my supporting frame are aligned, i then constrain a face of it to be a set distance from a parralel face of the supporting frame to centralise it. this works ok, and i can rotate this frame as i like. When, however i insert the inner frame and constrain the axes of the holes drilled through it to the axes of the other holes drilled through the outer frame, and two faces to be a set distance apart, it allows me to rotate my inner frame, but no longer allows me to rotate my outer frame! what have i over-constrained?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm using the line tool in a 2d sketch. First, I draw a polygon with the tool. Then, when I come to move one of the lines with the mouse cursor, it detaches from the other lines, and becomes a single floating line on its own.
As far as I can tell, it has nothing to do with the fly down constraint menu options, but i may have changed another option elsewhere in inventor and not have realised it.
