View 1 RepliesWhile trying to troubleshoot another user's problem, I discovered that I can't open the point creation tools on my computer. I can create the points by picking the appropriate type of point I want to create under the menu, but I can' change any of the point creation tools options.
Nothing happend when I click on points->create points.on the menu.
Nothing happens when I click on points->create points on hte ribbon.
I can create points by clicking on points->create points miscellaneous->manual either the ribbon or the menus.
It's like the command to open the Create Points Tools is somehow disabled on my computer.

In LDDT, I was able to create points and manually assign a point number.
I know in Civil 3D 2013, i can assign a point number also by changing a toggle under Point Creation Tools to False.
My problem is that everytime I close out of that box and get back in, it reverts the toggle back to TRUE so I have to keep changing it back to False as well as the Next Point Number. In the above example, the Next Point Number should be 1147 (which is after my manually created point 1146) but it keeps going back to 33 which is the next available number after #1.
I have a Grading Plan that is getting increasingly unstable as time goes on... I used Grading creation tools to create 3:1 mounding for a stock pile that is on my site... there are a couple dozen mounds on the site for this stock pile...
My problem is when I go to edit any feature lines or Grading; the drawing just crashes and will not save my work... I ran an audit and it does not find anything... I need to get the grading done ASAP and this is a major hold up... Do I need to go back through and manual grade everything or is there a secret that I am missing?
I have read multiple forums on the matter with older version of Civil 3d... so this is to tell me that the problem has never been fixed with Autocad?
I'm trying create a LISP to customize PDF creation. The lisp looks into the .PC3 file which paper size better fits the plot area. But its exaustive to every time i want to create a new paper size i have to open the .pc3 file and configure a new paper.
There is a way to open the .pc3 properties through lisp?
Some of my co-workers are having issues with layers. They create a new layer, choose a color and rename it and c;ose the ;ayer manager. When they reopen the layer manager, the new layer has reverted back to the color it started with. If they do it a second time, it works properly.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI am trying to get civil 3D to automatically create layers similar to ones already created. For example-
Using Description keys I am inserting survey points which automatically create layers for each type of point. e.g. p_building. I would also like a second layer to be created called l_building (for building lines) when the p_building layer is created.
I realize I can create the layers and save as the drawing template but this is not a neat solution as you have to add every possible line layer (l_??) and then you will have a lot of empty layers as not all points are collected on each job.
When i am creating alignment from object(six 2D polylines) it convert first poly line only to alignment.orther polylines show as a alignment ,but can't label or create profile.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm using Civil 2012 to create a surface for a landfill. I have UTM coordinates, and my elevations range from about 71m to 115m. When I create my surface using the points, I check the Surface Properties/Statistics, it appears the X,Y & Z coordinates have been scaled down by 3 decimal places. I'm using UTM coordinates to create the points.
Example:
Min elevation = 0.071m .... should be 71m
Min X = 481.510m etc. ... should be 481510.99 or something similar.
Units are set to meters.
I attached 3 pictures describing my problem.
On the first one you can see the feature lines i'm about to grade. The closed line is a pond and the two lines on the right is a riverbed. The area between them is just land.
On the second picture you can see a part of the surface i need to get by grading. I need the pond, riverbed and land to be one surface.
On the third picture you can see what happens, when i try to grade the riverbed under the same grading group. The pond surface disappears while the grading stays.
I've attached an image of some corridor issues.I've looked at the corridor properties, profile targets, and eg surface and everything checks out. So why would the corridor place a void in the daylight of the back slope of the new ditch?

I have a 1 mile road topo coming up for design purposes. The curb is standard, but there is full curb & depressed curb. If you had your way from the CAD seat, what shots do you prefer?
Most accurate I've seen iis Centerline, Edge Pavement/Edge Concrete Gutter, Flowline Gutter, Face Curb, Back Curb. More fieldwork, but made a good product.
What I have seen is CL, EP, BC, then "let them just use a template" and several variations thereof.
I have never seen a good way to automatically offset from say BC only and handle depressed curb by field coding.
How can i create an Alignment from points (imported) easily without drawing a polyline point to point using a polyline to define a route?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm doing a street reconstruction. project. Four blocks long with three cross streets. Is there an optimal corridor creation sequence? My first attempt didn't work out well, so I started over.
The cross streets do not extend except a few feet from the primary street, so I don't think I need separate corridors for them. I was thinking I could just use intersections extended out as necessary. Would it be best to...
1) Create separate corridors between the cross streets, leaving gaps for the intersections? This is what I did before. My reason for starting over did not involve this sequence.
2) Create a corridor segment --> create and attach an intersection --> create the next corridor segment (and attach, if possible) --> create the next intersection --> and son on until finished. It is my understanding that you can attach an intersection to one corridor on one side but not the other.
Create crossing / overlapping corridors then use them both to create an intersection.

I have an AutoCAD file which includes 3d points and lines which represent an existing ground survey. The scheme is approx. 8km and points are spaced in a dense grid. The survey was undertaken using aerial (Lidar) methods, before being rationalised using aerial imagary to identify linear features such as kerbs, fencelines, etc, which are included as 3d polylines. Items have been grouped by the surveyors and adopt individual cad layers and linestyles, etc.
Basically, I want to incorporate all of the points and all 3d polylines into my Civil 3d Survey database in order develop a roads design.
I'm having issues trying to create a point table. I have used this process before with no problem but now for some reason C3D won't create the table. I get an "NO VALID SELECTION" after selecting the C3D points. Why I'm getting this error? All my points are C3D points and C3D recognizes the points while the POINT TABLE CREATION menu is still visible but once it goes to create the table i get that error message.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have quite a few alignments to create and would rather not have to set the layer and conversion options for each. I'd like all to be on the same layer (that is already defined in the drawing) and to change the conversion options both off. I've been looking through the settings table in TS, but haven't found anywhere to change the default layer and conversion option states. Currently, the create alignment from objects defaults are to have alignments on independent layers (Model-Alignment*, where * adds the alignment name as a suffix to the layer name) and both conversion options are on.
View 6 Replies View RelatedThe company I work for recently updated a few of our computers with the SP2 for Civil 3D 2013. After this update, every time I create a surface profile, things get all messed up. Like I have done dozens of times before, I create the profile then open the profile creation tools. I am using the draw tangents with curves tool and as soon as I click my first tangent point, it shows up about an inch over to the left. I have struggled through and used the grips to edit after the fact but this used to be a VERY easy task. FYI my snap isn't on or anything goofy like that and when opened on a computer without the service pack, it works as it should.
View 7 Replies View RelatedWhen I try to access a hatch pattern from the Hatch Creation Ribbon Contextual Tab, C3D stops working and I have to force the program to quit. I've tried repairing the installation, which didn't work. I've also compeltely uninstalled and then reinstllaed the program, and have applied the Service Pack 1 update, but the problem persists.
However, accessing a hatch pattern after using the "Hatch" command from the command does seem to work.
I created a pressure pipe network with curved pipes. After I created the profile and told the pipe to follow the surface, all of my curved pipes had turned into straight segments. I wasn't able to convert them back to curved.

I am trying to create a lisp file to automate the placing of angular dimensions at all of the vertex's along a very long polyline. There are 500-600 nodes at least and we need the angle between the incoming and outgoing lines at every node.
Is there a way to automate this with a lisp file, or am i relegated to clicking 1800 times and waste 3-4 hours doing this?
We get these files quite often and this will be a huge benefit to us.
