View 8 RepliesI received a layout of a building from a architect. When I try to print it out it is extreemly light. This happens no mater what printer or ploter I use. I have changed line weight with no success.
It seems to always happen when I get a building drawing from an arhitect.
Even the new items I have drawn like conveyors , tables stc. come out nearly invisable.
I am a Mac user and new to AutoCAD. I am enrolled in a CAD class this semester and the instructor for my session is requiring Windows. Supposedly this is because AutoCAD for Mac does not allow for proper printing on their plot style setting.
I understand that I can install Bootcamp and Windows on my computer, but I'd really like to avoid that if I can. If I were to do my work on my Mac and then digitally transfer my files to a PC for printing purposes, would my files become corrupted or compromised in any way?
I cannot get my program to print to any of our network printers. I am using Autocad 2013 LT with FusionWare and Windows 7 on a Macpro OSX Lion. This started being a problem a few weeks ago and the only way I can get anything printed is to make a pdf and and then print the pdf from Acrobat.
Today I brought in a HP 940c printer from home and connected it to my desktop printer. I spent an hour uninstalling and installing the drivers. I can now print from Acrobat on both the PC and Mac sides of the computer, but when I try it from Autocad I get Error_Printing in the HP printer window. No info as to what the error might be. I tried this several times, tried renaming the file with a shorter name but since the driver puts in the entire path that was a futile gesture.
So I have confirmed that the printer is functioning correctly, just not with Autocad. I realize that i do have a working workaround but it is tedius and unnecessay to keep making all those pdfs.
hi, i'm working on a project and the client would like to have a logo that has light that is shining through the letter forms. i was wondering if anyone had any ideas as to how i could go by doing this. i tried using the lighting effects in the render but it still doesn't have the effect of light that is passing through the type.

we get rasterized diagonal lines when printing from AutoCAD on that Printer in A0 format, straight lines are ok.
Printing FIRST to an PDF printer an THEN to the T520 ist also ok (this is what the customer currently does and the quality is good). Got some suggestions from a local ACAD dealer (max. details in the printer driver) but no success ...
the edges of these letters are made with styles? as it can be done?
View 2 Replies View RelatedIn autoCAD tools I am using Device ID to mark my receptacles GFI, WP, and Ect. I am using Light ID to mark my lighting fixtures. The problem is the labels do not match my current text style. These tags also do not work like room tags and other tags I have searched to resolve this issue. The command these tools are grabbing is AECscheduletag. Is there a way to change the text style and size for these tags.

View 1 Replies View RelatedAt my work we have 2 different departments that uses a different type of simplex font. My department uses the standard simplex font and the other uses a customized simplex font. I need to make prints from the other department and its a burden to them for me to ask them to print out a drawing just because our fonts are different. Is there a way I can print their drawings with their font without it loading the standard font that's on my computer?
View 4 Replies View RelatedWhen printing in 3d with the vp set to 3dhidden and the shade plot set to hidden legacy some solid items print with the wire frame. This usualy happens with torus and cones. How do I stop this?
In the example look at the U-bolt.
If you review the attached screen shot of a PDF you will see that my Excel spreadsheet object prints very light. This is added to a Paper Space layer that is same layer as the Title Block, which is printing fine. The colorful solid objects are each in their own viewports.
I have set the OLE property "Plot Quality" to "Monochrome", also I have set the "Plot Style Table" to "monochrome.ctb".
To place the spreadsheet table I have Excel open, I select the columns/rows that I want and then Ctrl-C, I flip over to ACAD and Ctrl-V to place the object, I then resize it by dragging its handles. On screen, in ACAD, it looks fine.
I am creating the PDF using "Cute PDF Writer", which does an excellent job creating PDFs from many applications. I don't think it's related to my problem. I have tried ACAD's "DWG To PDF.pc3", but had a similar problem, but worse in other aspects.
I need to constantly print PDF to email to client and to print directly from printer for our project leader to review. But whenever I print by "Adobe PDF" the color is lighter than if I just print from our office printer.
I setup plot style by making different % of screening on each color and by adjusting line weight on drawing layer.
Im having an issue with drawings plotting too light in AutoCAD 2013. Polylines with a specified thickness of 1/32" will print dark, but the rest of the drawing is almost unreadable because it is too light. "Plot with Plotstyles" is selected
I can use 2009 to print, which is also installed on my machine, and the drawing will print as intended.Using the same plot style, same settings in both.
How to search the words that contains only two letters in which the first one is “Z”, for example?
In other software, we do this sort of search by putting the term question mark like”Z?”. is there an equivalent syntax for this issue in the AutoCAD?
Software: AutoCAD 2014, AutoCAD C3D, AutoCAD M3D, Revit
Windows 7 (Ultimate 64 bits),
Firefox 20.0,
Kaspersky 2013.
We are using AutoCAD Architecture 2013 and AutoCAD LT 2013 in our office-just upgraded. Now, whenever we go into a drawing that uses the Archstyle (Shx) font and try to copy or paste any text, the font changes to simplex. We have to exit completely out of AutoCAD to recover the font.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI'm starting off with a transparent BG, I'm saving the file as a png, and I'm writing in only #FFFFFF white with a drop shadow. I can see it on preview, but when I use color paper, the letters turn out transparent with the slight outline provided by the drop shadow. I can get any other color I want, but why isn't white showing up and how can I generate it?
View 3 Replies View RelatedConstructing a grid (centers) with letters and numbers,I follow to set a grid for a plan (All what I need here is a lisp file that provides serial numbers and letters for the grid):
-Grid (centers) are provided to the existing columns
-Circles are plot at the end of these centers to accommodate labels
-Numbers & letters labels are provided
-Numbers and letters are edited to put them in serial order. Here is the issue, as serial number and letter is done manually, then this is a source for errors!
The attached lisp file does do this sort of work but doesn’t allow choosing the direction of numbering lettering! In the same plan, if I need to have the numbers to start from right (instead of starting from left) then this is impossible using that lisp. This is the only part of the code that needs to be enhanced. Also, the “auto number” command does the same thing but work with numbers bit not for letters.
We are working on a Map that has all the line and text styles set as we want them displayed. Layout tab 1, 2 and 4 display everything as we need, but as soon as we print or print preview some of the text doesn't print or show up in the preview. However, Layout tab 3 displays everything as well and it prints correctly. Scales on Layout tabs 2,3, and 4 are all set to the same scale. Layout 1 is an overview.

When printing from PS CC using the print dialogue box I am getting a severe red shift in the final print. When I print the same image from PS CS5 or CS6 I get a color-correct print.
I am running a MacPro with OS 10.7.5, and printing to a Canon iPF8300 with its latest firmware and print driver. I am using the proper ICC profile for the paper. In the print dialogue box, I select "Photoshop Manages Colors".
A couple things I noticed: In the "Print Settings" where I dial in the printer setup, the settings for "Color" are both turned off (Colorsync & Vendor). In the printer driver settings (still within "Print Settings") the "Color" tab is grayed out, but when I click the "Settings" for that sub-panel, Colorsync is selected. When I printed the image from the Canon PS Plug-in, the red cast was gone, but the blacks were too heavy (there is no "Black Point Compensation" check box available because the Canon plug-in uses Adobe Color Engine for that, and it's only 32-bit and won't run).
I have just bought and installed Lightroom 5 and need to set my print size to A3 and in the future even bigger. I do not have the facility at home and need to have them sized correctly for the print shop so they do not have to waste time resizing them. I am at a loss how to do this. I cant find any settings for this size print. A3 is roughly 42 x 29.7 cm.

I have noticed only if the snap is ON. but if I OFF the snap the text is okay. even the attribute is the same.
I have an Imac with Mountain Lion, CS5 and have just replaced my Epson R2400 with an R3000. Now the white background round the image is covered in small cyan and light grey dots. If the image fills the paper, then the margin is affected. But when trying to proof colours I am going through loads of paper as I cannot now print a smaller image on a larger piece of paper, then re-feed the same sheet through with another small image as the paper is now pale blue.
The R2400 was fine for proofing, as the image alone would print and then the printer fed through the remainder of the sheet without printing, leaving the rest of the paper white. I understood from that , that it was most likely a Photoshop issue and some sort of conflict with the Paper profiles. But, I have checked the profiles on my Mac and they are all version 2 profiles. I note that the few profiles that do work without the blue colour do have 'bkpt' in their profiling and that the ones for the paper I actually do use and in fact the majority of the profiles, do not contain 'bkpt'.

Plotting from the Layout - Model is plotting fine, XREF Titleblock is plotting out too light, about 20% of what model plots.
XREFd on 0 layer (tried on different layer, result = no difference) all other aspects of plot are correct
XDWGFADECTL set at 1
LAYLOCKFADECTL set at 1
Print Preferences
- line and text (not photo)
- dpi 600
I found a work-around but it isn't realistic in the longterm, I inserted the Title block as a BLOCK and exploded it, and then the titleblock plotted fine with each of the different Title Block layers plotting correct to pen width.
I have set up an A3 size print style (420x297mm) with 5mm margins all around. i am plotting a drawing to its extents (400x277mm) which should leave 5mm between the drawing extents and the page margins. when i preview the page it looks perfect. however when i open the created .pdf the result is somewhat different. the spacing left to right is spot on but vertically the drawing is off the top of the page approximatly 15mm. i have tried many things to try centre the page but the closest i can get it is a 13mm margin at the bottom and 2mm margin at the top, achieved by unchecking the centre the plot box and inputting 0 for the y offset.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm using ACAD2011 and a HP DesignJet 500 plotter. We use PDF underlays of scanned charts, maps, etc in our cad plans and sometimes the PDFs will only partially plots even though the rest of the cad line work plots. We are using 2007 dwg file format to make files compatible with another program. I have monkeyed with the RASTERPERCENT and RASTERTHRESHHOLD variables but still same problem.
View 3 Replies View RelatedDWG to PDF is not printing certain files correctly. It appears to only happen with the dots hatch pattern and the Dots linetype with a 0.0003" lineweight in the CTB file. The lines with the issue have color and pline width (zero). Print preview show, plotting to a printer, and using adobe show the lineweight correctly but using DWG to PDF does not.
