Illustrator :: File Icons Don't Match With Actual File Image
Jul 29, 2013I'm using Illustrator 5.0 with MAC OS 10.8.4 and the Illustrator file icons are different than the actual file image. It's using the same image for 5 different files. THey all started out the same, but I edited them and then did a save as, but the file icon image didn't update. How can I fix this? I tried resaving the files and copying the files, but it didn't work.

Mar 5, 2013I'm running PS CS6 on a new 27"imac. When saving documents in CS6, the majority of times no icon is saved only the file name when viewed from the finder. Around 10% of the documents saved will have an icon, the remainder will not. This is across the board with all file types. If I open up a document through CS6 I can see the file icon in the CS6 as I search, it's just through the finder that I can't.

Nov 27, 2012Every day at least a dozen times I print spot color separations for film through the print dialogue to pdf, and every single time I have to either print the spot colors one at a time, or open the multipage pdf in Acrobat and use the clunky extract page function to get separate files. Is there any way to just get it to print separate pdfs?
Then I have to rename each sep to have the color in the file name. If there was a way to automate that?

Nov 3, 2012I’m a 3DS Max transfer. In 3DS Max there is an option to open an image file for modeling reference in a separate window within Max which always stays on top. This is NOT an image plane to model off of but an IMAGE FILE, a picture i can get the details from that don’t show in a drawing or plane. Currently I open images or groups of images(NOT SEQUENCES) in the default OS file viewer program. This is fine with a dual monitor setup, where I throw the reference images to the other screen. But what about when I’m on my laptop on the go or have no other monitor? Currently I’d have to open the same program, have it underneath MAYA and flip back and forth, which is a very big hassle over time. I’d like to be able to open a small, resizable window WITHIN maya and view the image file(or files!) there so I can move it around my workspace and glance over to it in an instant.
I still want my four panels or all of my panel space to work with. With it being resizable i can even shrink it down to get the gist in the upper right corner where no icons are even zoom in on parts with such a small window.

When I want to save a edited image to a file(every image goes to the same file all the time),I always have to search this file. How can I program CS5.1 to always go to that specific file to save the image. Instead of searching for the file all the time!
Second thing is that the images always have to be changed to the same resolution. Is there a way to 'automate' this. I Know: - File - Automate - Fit Image. But is it possible to do this with a key combination or make a 'button' somewhere?

May 20, 2012I realise there are pros and cons to this question and the temptation is to opt for the highest quality, but the file sizes are huge. So, my camera files will be mainly 1080 files at 30fps, what will be the best file type/size to save files for future use. I don't really mind the rendering time and space isn't a huge problem, but the variety of file types is bewildering. Most clips will find their way to DVD but I don't want to reduce resolution as they might be used at a later date for Blu-Ray.

We are trying to secure our drawings using regular NTFS folder/files permissions on a Windows 2003 server. The goal is to let users save changes to dwg files but NOT delete files or move them. We are trying to prevent accidental deletion of files.
We have created a group which is assigned all rights on files except "Delete". Unfortunately, this does not work because upon saving a file, ACAD deletes the original file of a network drive and recreates it with new/updated one. AutoCAD requires the "Delete" trigger.
Is there a method or a work around we could use to aid us on the task? All other programs like Creative suite, Office applications, various graphic programs work wonderfully with the permissions in place but not AutoCAD Architecture 2008. From what i've read this issue dates back to the dates of AutoCAD 14.
Our files are very valuable and there are LOTs of them. We can't be the only firm that values their files and not have dealt with this issue.

Nov 18, 2012I did a search around, and did not find the answer. Basically I have attempted to create an action in Photoshop CS6 which will save a file in the tiff format after i crop the image. I want the file name to be the name of the image (which is supposed to change depending on name of the image) like this:
1280x720_MGXXX.tiff, where, in my case the XXX represents DIFFERENT NUMBERS.
I want to apply the action to one image at a time. Each image has a different number (name). I record the action, add the 1280x720 text to the image name in the Save dialog. I am saving the image in a different folder from the source file. The source file name is _MGXXXX.tiff (again XXXX is a number like 2220...).
When I run the action on a file, say "_MG2221.tiff" it adds the 1280x720, and saves the file. When I apply the action on the next file (_MG2222.tif), the action overwrites the existing file, 1280x720_MG2221.tif, with the image. The action always uses the name I entered in the Save dialog!! I think I was able to do this in CS4 and CS5.
I want to be able to open a file, crop and adjust it, and then save in a diff location with 1280x720 pretended to the file name.

Nov 26, 2006I am saving work as jpeg into desktop file.... sometimes (not always) when I go to retrieve it ...it shows up as a file that I cannot open, not a normal jpeg. I just tried to copy and paste to show here..then draged into this space and it opened...tried to save it to desk top from here but it is still showing up as a very weid icon that will not open...? In the properties it shows as a jepeg, but the icon is totally different..
