Paint Shop Pro :: Transparent GIF And Web Page Image Backgrounds

Aug 19, 2012

I just purchased Paint Shop Pro X4, and do have one question about making transparent images.

I’m designing a simple, basic text-only logo for my web site. I know how to make the image transparent. That’s not a problem, if I'm using a plain solid color as the background of the page.

What I would like to know is this: How do I make the text logo transparent if the page background of my web site is an image, such as a photograph, or textual wallpaper. I’ve never tried that, and am wondering if that will make the creation of a transparent GIF more difficult.

Is the procedure for making a transparent GIF different in this case? If so, what steps should I take?

Paint Shop Pro :: V12 / How To Do A Transparent Image

Dec 30, 2011

I have 2 gif images. On image2 I have erased the background so as all you see is the checkerboerd.I want to place image2 (the visible part) on to image1.

I'm sure I have done all the correct procedures but the #2 image will show either a black or white background when pasted on to image 1.

These are the rules I followed. To make one image color transparent

1. Choose Image Palette Set Palette Transparency. If you are prompted to reduce the color depth and number of layers, click Yes to continue and then choose the options for decreasing color depth.

2. On the Set Palette Transparency dialog box, choose one of the following options:

• Set the transparency value to the current background color — makes the background color transparent

• Set the transparency value to a palette entry — specifies a color to be transparent. Click the color in the image, or click the color box to select from the current color picker. If you want to view the transparency, click Proof.

3. Click OK. The color is now transparent; however, it may still be displayed until you hide it.

Paint Shop Pro :: Prevent Part Of Image From Being Transparent?

Sep 16, 2012

I am using PSP X4.

I am working with transparent images. An example is the image below. I've added borders so you can see what I'm doing.

As you can see, the background is solid white, but the image itself is primarily white. I want only the background to be transparent.

I've dabbled with the GIF Optimizer feature to make the background transparent, but part of the actual image becomes transparent also, since it contains white.

One thing I tried doing was use the color replacer to change the white background to another color, but in doing so, some of the image itself changes to yellow, despite my trying to avoid that.

Is it possible to configure PSP so that only the background is transparent? If so, what's the most practical method?

Paint Shop Pro :: Lift Image From Photo And Then Do Transparent Background?

Nov 2, 2011

I want to lift image from photo and then do transparent background.

Is there any knack of selecting the item from the image cleanly. In my case its a dog. I use the lasso to go around the object but that leaves a 2mm space where the background shows through.

(Is there a way to use the lasso to make a partial selection then remove your finger from the mouse and then continue your selection from where you left off ?)

After I have Deleted the inverted selection I use the Background remover to remove the remaining 2mm of background around the dog.Again is there a knack to using this tool ? I Googled and it said to keep the removal circule half in and half out of the actual image. Also is ther a correct setting in the menu bar for the BG/removal tool..Im just experimenting.

my settings at this moment are.

size 18
Hardness 100
Step 10
Density 100
Thickness 100
Rotation 0
Opacity 100
Tolarance 75
Sharpness 100
Sampling: Continuous
Limits: Contiguous
Boxes not ticked. Auto tollerance and Use all Layers.
Box ticked: Ignore Lightness.

Paint.NET :: Adding Alpha Channel For Transparent Backgrounds?

Jan 15, 2014

what I have been doing to work with transparency: bring up GIMP to add an alpha channel and set part of an image to transparent. Save and use in Paint.net.Today, for example, I wanted to create a M + W logo, and the result looked like this:I set the font to Engravers MT, put a red W on an image.Selected "All", copied to clipboard, then pasted to a new image.Vertically flipped the new image, making it an M, changed color to blue using Recolor tool. Saved it as PNG, closed image.Started GIMP, opened the blue M image. On GIMP menu, selected Layer --> Transparency --> Add Alpha ChannelUsed Fuzzy Select Tool to select the area outside the blue MHit delete key to remove color of fuzzy selection (converting it to transparent)Save image as PNG and exit GIMP.Back in Paint.net, open the M image.Select All of Image, copy to clipboard.Paste into New Layer of W image.Adjust position of this transparent selection layer to achieve desired resutl as above.Save the completed image.I find GIMP to be very hard to work with, and prefer working with Paint.net. It would be so nice to be able to create an alpha channel and make a transparent area of an image inside of Paint.net.

Paint.NET :: Unable To Make Photo Backgrounds Transparent

Dec 12, 2012

I have been removing photo backgrounds, saving them as .png and using them in a Power Point Project. Apparently when I reopened that PowerPoint project to add more photos, Libre Office's Impress  opened the .ppt file rather than PowerPoint. When I had added all of the png photos and saved the ppt file again I saw that it was "Impress" not PowerPoint that was saving he file, but it still saved it as a ppt file.

I was not concerned until I went to open the ppt file with PowerPoint and discovered that PowerPoint could not open that ppt file. I decided that I had to start fresh and add all of the png photos in a new Pow1erPoint Project. Then I found that he transparent background ol all of the png files had been changed to black. I must have transparent backgrounds. So I took each photo back into Paint.Net and used the Magic Wand to remove the backgrounds, then saved them as png files. When I sent to use those edited .png files the backgrounds were still black. I have tried removing those black backgrounds several times but they continue to have black backgrounds.  what I can try to get the transparent backgrounds back?

I've run various process's like smart photo fix, sharpen, then improved the saturation and then re sized at 75% "weighted average". When I view the photo on the Internet the blue sky seems to be in lines. How I can stop this and get an even blue colour.

Photoshop :: Making Image Backgrounds Transparent

I need help making the background of several images transparent using Photo Shop. For instance, I have a picture of a flower that appears to be floating on a white background, but when you try to insert the picture on a page with a color background, the white shows up too. I would just like for the flower to appear directly on the color background of the page. I hope this makes sense. I just want to make the background of the picture itself completely transparent. Paint Shop Pro :: X3 - Background Transparent

Nov 26, 2013

Paint shop pro x3 Whoa am I out of date. But maybe there is still hope before I get X6. I am trying to make a background transparent so that when I insert it onto a presentations slide, the item, a Christmas tree, has no background other than what is the background of the slide. I used the background removal process, asked for 0 opacity on the background and still when I save, or paste, it is in a rectangular white box.

I'm missing something simple, I know it. But thats been my day.

How do I essentially make it a stand alone little thing with no background?

Paint Shop Pro :: Transparent PNG Using Batch And Script

Dec 12, 2013

I'm in the process of creating an mpg of a load of photos and movies taken on my camera. I want to have a small transparent border around the slides so they fit in the "safe area" of the TV and I can show a moving image behind the slides (especially the portrait ones).

I know that I can resize the photos and then resize the canvas to give me my border and I can then do "Save As" PNG to get the border transparent.

I have a few hundred photos so what I want to know is, is it possible to utilize PSPs built in "Batch Process" on the files and make use of the "Use Script" option.

I have recorded a script which does all the resizing and saving but when I look at the script it has the name of the file hard coded in it.

What I want to do is use the "Batch Process" to select all the files, run the script on them and then save them into a different folder (something I've done many time for other projects just not with the transparent bit).

The BIG problem is that the [Printer] button on the Page Setup dialog no longer appears! Here's the verbiage from the PaintShopPro7 user guide:

6To surround the image with a color, click the Background button. When the Color dialog box opens, choose the color. The area of the paper from the image edge to the paper margin will be covered with this color.

7Click the Printer button to open the printer.

8Click OK to close the dialog box and save the settings.
