Apr 9, 2004
I'm not sure if this is correct, but if i want to use adobe illustrator 9.0 to draw out my layout for my webpage, i would like the background to be black with some logo i create. but i cannot change the background to black in adobe! does anyone know how to do that. i have tried alt+click in the swatches panel, but i do not have any luck. or if i draw some logos/buttons/etc for my webpage, do i just set the background color black in html?

--Toolbox: The 2 columns of Tools on the left side of the Editor screen.
--Foreground Color & Background Color: The color filled squares at the bottom of the Toolbox.
--Color dialogue box: This is the pop-up that is labeled at the top with "Color". It shows 48 different color squares (6 rows by 8 columns); they are labeled "Basic colors:". Right below the "Basic colors:" array is another 16 empty squares (2 rows by 8 columns) to be filled with colors to be defined. There is a "Define Custom Colors>>" button when clicked opens up a color picker with HSB RGB stacked below the color field screen. See this link to the Microsoft "Color Dialogue Box", [URL]
--Adobe Color Picker: The interactive dialogue box with the color field screen to the left and the HSB RGB numbers stacked on the right side.
[URL]
The problem:In PSE 10, when using the Eyedropper Tool or clicking on the Foreground Color or the Background Color, the Microsoft Microsoft "Color Dialogue Box" pops up instead of the "Adobe Color Picker" dialogue box. This started about a month ago. I use Windows 7.
I want the "Adobe Color Picker" to pop up (like it used to) inside PSE 10.

You know how when you're painting, you can hold ALT and it will pick a colour from the canvas? Well, for some reason, mine still picks up the colour but it sets it to the background colour instead of the foreground colour.
And when I actually select the colour picker tool, it will only select the background colour but when I hold Alt, it selects the foreground colour. Basically it's flipped where it's supposed to select.

When I have any kind of layer, and I want to change the foreign or background color (with the color picker) I just cant. When I click on the foreign or background color it automatically selects the eyedropper tool, and I don't want this to happen.

Was running the latest version of Photoshop CS5 and added a second quad graphics card and 4 more monitors. Now PS will not start and I get the error message "could not initialize photoshop because of a problem using the adobe color engine."Computer has 2 NVIDIA Quadro4 NVS 420 graphics boards with 8 Samsung SyncMaster 1920x1080 monitors. If I disable 4 of the monitors CS5 starts normally. I do not have to remove the added graphics card. When I extend the desktop again to all 8 monitors I get the error above.
Is it Photoshop, NVIDIA or Windows 7?

I created an image in PS and then went to Dreamweaver to code. I wanted a certain cell to be the same color as the image I created in PS so I set the cell to the same hex value as the one in PS.
When viewed in a browser though, the color is different.
Why?
What do I need to do to make them view the same on the web by using the hex value?

When I export RAW files, specifying that I want the output to be in sRGB color space the resulting files have the Adobe RGB color space. The same is true if I specify I want them in ProPhoto. Is this a bug? I have done it successfully in other versions of Lightroom, but not in 4.3.

The margins don't work and you have to enter all the parameters if you are printing multiple photos.
No matter what margins you enter, the utility ignores them. I need to CENTER a document on both sides of a piece of brochure paper in order to create a personalized greeting card. This program puts the document on the left - turn the page over, and the card does not match. I would have to cut the paper to size and then set up paper sizes for the printer. The other solution would be to make the document letter size and center the card on that. What a waste of time.
I used to get perfect prints on an HP 2600N Laser Printer just by using no color management. Now I don't. Also, if you are printing 2 photographs (or 2 sides of the card) you have to close the program, re-open the program, get the 2nd photograph and reset the margins and the printer specs. What a bother!
I don't know why you just can't put the 'no color management' back into photoshop (unless you are being paid by printing companes not to do so.)

I'm attempting to tilt this image for use in a game im writing. I've been using Map Object and rotation (Y) but this then causes pixel color changes on the boundary with the background color. How would I tilt this picture without getting the problem?

How I choose a color for any new objects I want to create. I've opened the toolbox with ctrl-b, which appears on the left side of the window. If I want to , for example, draw a red rectangle, I use the rectangular selection tool, then the bucket fill, and I don't see how to change the foreground color to red.
I've read elsewhere in the forum that there should be two rectangles somewhere on the screen that show foreground and background color, but I don't see them anywhere.

I need to constantly print PDF to email to client and to print directly from printer for our project leader to review. But whenever I print by "Adobe PDF" the color is lighter than if I just print from our office printer.
I setup plot style by making different % of screening on each color and by adjusting line weight on drawing layer.

I had Photoshop CS6 installed and working on my Mac using Adobe Creative Cloud. However now a dialog appears that says "Help Improve Adobe's Product". Regardless if I approve this dialog or not Adobe Photoshop starts up with every menu option grayed and I can do nothing. I have to force quit the application. At this point it is 100% unusable.
I've googled it and seen others with a similar issue but no solutions found. I have OSX 10.8.3.
Others with similar issues. URL....No real solution other than don't use Mac Keeper (which I do not) URL....

I would like to change this color to something a little more easy on the eye- I have tried all the tutorials that refer to this action, but have not managed yet to accomplish this task..I thought maybe someone here could help ... In CS3 and earlier, the application background color came from the Windows application background global property. In CS4 the central area seems to be (127,127,127) and I can't figure out how to change it. I have "open documents as tabs" OFF because I like individual windows, so the bright gray background is distracting.
How do I make it darker? There doesn't seem to be a property in Preferences->Interface.

the only option i have is to choose from a green color spectrum, not a full color spectrum...
Tried adjusting levels and auto levels,

My company has asked me to create a new logo for use in our web apps. Well, I used Photoshop to create the psd, then saved it as a png file, with a tranparent background.
After saving it, I put it on my server and viewed it on a test page. Unfortunately, no matter what I do in Photoshop, there is a background showing. Basically, there are two layers.
1) for the graphic-main body of the image.
2. Text above the image.

changing the color of the background isn't too hard, but if you have for example a drawing (which is black on white). How can you smoothly change one of the colors to another?
For example
all black > blue
grey > light blue
light grey > lighter blue
