CorelDRAW Graphics Suite X4 :: Creating Dotted Lines That Are Circles
Mar 16, 2009
I'm trying to create dotted lines that are actually circles and not square shaped dots (the given option in the outline menu). Is the best/only way to do this by creating a new Artistic Media Brush? It seems like there should be an easier option when needing to create a long dotted line or a shape with a dotted outline.
I would like to mark the outline of an object with a dotted line/ the outline should be a dotted line to show that this object can be cut out. But I see only where to choose the thickness of a line.
I need to hide the dotted boxes that are now showing in X3 around all paragraph text on maybe 1000 business slides I created 5 to 10 years ago and now want to update.
Changing to artistic text does make the dotted boxes go away but is there a master setting that would make them go away in paragraph text?
Five to ten years ago I created maybe 1000 busness slides in CorelDraw and then moved their images to Powerpoint. Versions used were 11 and X3.
Now when I want to dust them all off and freshen them I find dotted boxes around .
I have a quick question corel X5, I have a design made of several .4 inch circles, I wonder if there is a way to resize all the circles to .6 inch ( i am trying to avoid to resize manually each circle )
I'm currently sitting with the following problem in CorelDraw 11:
I have four circles, one inside the other, with the circles getting smaller towards the centre. I want the two outer circles to be joined and the two inner circles to be joined. Text will be placed on top of these circles and I want to cut out those sections of the circle which will be covered by the text. The circles will also be filled with different colours. Simply placing the text on top of the 'rings' is not an option as the there are also two logos on the right which cover part of the circle (the part which I want to 'cut' out).
I've tried Combine and the Knife tool but somehow I just don't seem to achieve my goal. This would be a lot easier to explain if I could upload a PDF of the image.
I have two adjacent circles. I created two tangent lines between them on opposite sides. I want to connect the lines to the circles. So - I make the circle into a pie, and with the node editing tool, drag the nodes around until I see the little info text go from edge to "node" where it snaps on the nope of the line.
Before I start this, the lines are perfectly tangent. When complete, the lines are no longer tangent and the circle is shifted upwards, and is moved off the perfect tangent by different amount for each line. I can see a difference at 3200% and 11000% zoom at 0.5 point lines.
This occurs if I rotate the circle, or make the circle into an arc also.
It seems that when the circle is drawn, the center point about which its rotated, and from where the arcs/pies are drawn is not exactly center. This is happening when I manually rotate it. It I rotate it giving it a specific degree in the properties bar across the top, it rotates fine. For instance, repeating this again, the arcs of the circle is below one line, and above the other live by a lesser degree.
If there is a way to create a new command under the customization tab. The reason I ask is that I use the line color 100% black, 30% Black (It is in the commands already) and red. I want to create a new outline command for the color red so that I can use a shortcut key.
I am trying to set the cut lines around a font that is an outline font and I can't get it to work - the outline just turns into the cut line and doesn't cut the font that I need.
I have a group of images that I am working on in Corel Draw x5. They are drawings, I scanned them as black/white images then used the "outline trace to clipart" feature to get good images.
I want to thicken the lines but if I use the outline pen tool to change the thickness it draws a box around my images. Is there a way to thicken the lines without getting the box?
I am trying to create a circle with a pre-defined diamter of 7mm, and then I want to add 20 (twenty) generated lines intersecting another 20 lines across the circle.
TO make it more difficult, I need to pre-define the width of the lines, as well as the spacing of the lines.
Primarily I am using Corel for basic typesetting and simple graphics for sign making. My problem is that when I save the drawing something simple saves as a massive file. Many of my clients don't have space in their in-boxes for large files and large files are also slow to trasmit over the internt. I find that I have to import the jpg or pdf file into Illustrator and re-save the file whereas it becomes a normal size. A file this morning ( a rectangle with some text inside) was 7.4mb when I saved it as a pdf. Opening in Illustrator and re-saving using the same file name the file size became a managable 110kb????
I am running CorelDrawx6 on Win7, 8G Memory, 2TB Storage, Core I5 processor and NVIDIA GeForce GT 440
Graphics card with 1G onboard memory. I have the latest updates to CorelDrawx6 installed (x6.1 and x6.2).
I am now having trouble with fonts in all of my cdr files. Many of the fonts will default to size .001 and cannot make them stay at any other size. When I scale them manually, I can see them flash on the screen at the proper size, but when I "let go" of them they reduce back down to the invisible size.
I want to create and name my own colors. To start with, I put the default RGB palette into "show color names" mode, and I then intend to add to the palette colors which I have named for my own purposes, and then delete the colors I dont need.
I have put the palette so it floats, which is more convenient for me, and I want to extend the palette down so that I can see most of the color names immediately, for example this is easy to do in CorelPainter.
I find that I cant extend the floating palette window beyond the default size, even though, when I select the window, arrows appear at the edges and corners of the palette, as if it is possible to move them. I find that the whole desktop turns grey, and a sort of secondary palette window appears momentarily and flutters on and off.
I am trying to generate some graphics for my I-phone App. Most of the images can be SVG files which works out great but some of what I need has to be PNG format. So, I need a graphic that is about 50px square and has to be a PNG file.
I have attached a CDR that is a resolution of 10000dpi but when I export to PNG and make it 50px wide it looks like ca-ca :). The problem is in my App i will need to zoom in on the 50px wide image. How can I create small PNG files that I can zoom in on and still look crisp?
I was comparing a few drafting and was curious if CorelDraw X6 had the ability to create contour plots using 3-dimensional spatial data (e.g., topographic surveys). Basically, what I was looking to do was import a table (say from excel) with a number of data points which each have three coordinate locations (X, Y, Z). I would be looking for the program to take these data points and be able to draw lines or shading between them in essentially what would be a topographic map (contour map). In the past, I have used another program called Surfer to create the contour maps, and have then had to import the exported image to an older version of CorelDraw.
in photoshop one can create mirror edges manually or by using an action. the mirror is to cover the visible edge of a canvas wrapped on a stretcher bar. is there a way to do this using corel?
We currently have a new Roland VersaCamm vs-420,I have created a text image with a photo printed into the text, I have done this in photoshop, when saving as an eps and i import it into corel draw x5 graphics suite, there is a white image around the text which i dont want, there is no option to ungroup and delete it, what i want to do is have a cut line around each individual letter but its selecting the whole image as one.
Windows Vista 64, corel crashes on creating new document or opening existing one. It crashes twice actually. First crash spews out this:

Both are Visual C++ related as far as I can see. I have all the Visual C++ redistributables installed and up to date.
I need to create a smooth border line the same shape of the inside of this cutting die which I have scanned......slightly small than the inside (White Part) How do I achieve this? I have tried power trace then created a boundary to make the shape but the line is uneven.
This isn't something I am in need of because in the future with this graphic I would just convert the background. Just wondering why it made those odd lines coming off of the words and the black bar (I don't know how the heck you guys can post large things, things with motion, etc. I have to make things miniature to put them on here)
I assume it has something to do with how the original, that came from MillerCoors, has those layers of lines in it. I just don't get why lines would then be visible when I changed it since nothing like that has happened before. Oh, and if you are wondering why I converted it, it's because I knew my rip server wouldn't like all that stuff going on in the original
