AutoCad 3D :: How To Eliminate Lines On A Thin Sheet Metal Drawing

Sep 16, 2012

I have many 3d metal sheet metal drawing. When I put the model into 3d model in to 2d layout, I see many 'lines' on flat surfaces. The 'lines' seem to be showing 'reflective effect'. However, it really cause problem when I give this to my boss. He asked why I cut the sheet metal into so many pieces. How I can set autocad NOT to show those unwanted lines?

AutoCAD Inventor :: Sheet Metal Rule In Drawing

May 7, 2012

I have setup all our Sheet Metal Rules to be all of our stocked in house sheet metals.  The sheet metal rules are named like:

ALUM 5052 H32 1/2" (Part Number)
ST STEEL T304 3/8" (Part Number)
STEEL 44W 1/8" (Part Number)
etc.

And each rule has the proper thickness, material, and some standardized bend radius's.  I've done this to introduce more uniformity in our designs, and to also allow the designer to put as much information into the model as possible, so that if someone else does the drawings, there is no question as to which material is used.

I now want to bring in the Sheet Metal Rule name into the drawing automatically.  I can't seem to find a way to reference the Sheet Metal Rule directly from the drawing.  What I need to do is pick a standard field in the i Properties (I used Stock Number), and put in =<Sheet Metal Rule> so that now the Stock Number references the Sheet Metal Rule, and then in the drawing I can just reference the Stock Number, and it will come in.

I don't like having to use the Stock Number as a middle man though, as none of our existing models are setup like this.  Is it possible to reference Sheet Metal Rule in the drawing without having to use another field as a placeholder for the information?

AutoCAD Inventor :: Sheet Metal Gauge In Drawing?

Sep 20, 2012

I have created a bunch of sheet metal rules for my different gauge thicknesses. Is there a way I can propogate the gauge information to my drawing so that if I were to change the gauge, that info would also update on my drawing sheet? The only thing I can get to work currently is to pull in the material used, but that doesn't include the gauge.

AutoCAD Inventor :: Sheet Metal - Is Flat Pattern Needed On Drawing

Oct 16, 2012

I have a simple sheet metal part that does not require explicit bend radii. We leave it up to the shop to fab this part up as long as it's final outcome is within tolerance. We don't normally include a flat pattern, simply because it could cause confusion when cutting a blank. I use the default bend allowance and bend radius, which gives the exact blank size and bend locations. But our local fab shop probably doesn't/won't use the correct tooling to provide the exact bend radius, so this will throw off the final outcome if the blank was cut using the flat pattern dimensions.

I can apply the flat pattern to my drawings, because there is some sheet metal components we have that require the flat pattern to show cut profile features.

AutoCAD Inventor :: Stress Analysis Thin Sheet Multiple Thickness

Jul 3, 2013

I have an assembly of multi-thickness, thin sheets, essentially welded together. (see image attachment)

One component is composed of land and bay areas, a single planar sheet where the edges are thin, and the central body is thickened.

I can get Inventor to treat the remaining multi-thickness, right angle components as midplane by going with separate bodies.

The top plate is a single planar sheet, and Inventor will not treat it properly as a mid-planed plate.

Will Inventor translate the constraints properly if I build the thin region separate from the central thicker region in order to produce feasible mid-planed mesh?

Question already posted by other in forum - using local control to develop multiple element thicknesses through cross section of plate (by thin face selection), one cannot verify that the smaller elements along the cross section are built properly through the entire component.

I am not a regular user of the Inventor General Table. I can make and edit the table with no problems. I want to eliminate the lines from one of the columns while leaving the lines in the remaining columns. I tried to set up the column before inserting it but could not find the column format that would allow me to do that in the Style Editor.

How to do this. I need to also remove the (read only) from the Style Editor.

Photoshop :: Turning Very Thin Lines Into Watercolor Strokes

Jan 25, 2012

My sister has some drawings that she want to scan and send to me. They use very thin pen ink. She then wants the pen strokes to be colorized and turned into water color strokes. As an experiment I tried using the "Artistic-Watercolor" filter on some thin lines and the results were lame.

All of the watercolor brushes I have seen online seem for comparatively wide stokes. Is there a filter or action that could turn very thin ink stokes into realistic looking watercolor strokes?

Xara :: How To Avoid Thin Lines Between Parallel Paths

Jan 16, 2014

When you create shapes that fits together, there appeares a thin line that also shows when you make a jpeg from it. I'm a vector contributor at iStock and making a preview jpg with all those white lines looks really ugly (see attachment).

Here is a simple solution. Copy your shapes on top of each other and the lines are gone. This way your work stays 100% vector. For work that hasn't to be 100% vector, you could make a bitmap copy and place it under your vector image.

Photoshop :: How To Eliminate Lines Which Appear When Tile Repeated In CS6

Sep 30, 2013

I'm using photoshop cs6 to create textile designs, and occassionally, (it hasnt happened with every tile) when i change the image size of my tile e.g. from 15cm sq to 10cm sq, then try to repeat the tile it forms thin lines between the tiles?

heres the tile repeated after ive changed the image size and you can see the thin lines...when i zoom in on the tile edges where the line has formed it looks like this....almost as if theres empty pixels that can then be coloured in.

i dont think its a problem when creating the tile because before i changed the image size it repeated fine with no lines, its something thats happeneing when the image size is altered.

AutoCAD Inventor :: How To Model ACM Sheet Metal

Oct 20, 2011

Very thin gauge aluminum sheets with a composite sandwiched between them.

The challenge is, the panels are relatively thick, 3mm or 4mm, but a router is used on the fold lines before bending to cut through all but the outer aluminum.  This makes for a very tight bend radius.

So, thick 3 layer material, tight bend with mitered corners.  Can Inventor's sheet metal tools handle this?

AutoCAD Inventor :: Normal Cut In Sheet Metal

Sep 6, 2012

how incredible it is that Inventor still does not have a functional normal cut option for sheet metal like Solidworks and Solidedge have long had and I agree.  I realize that there are the standard workflows like using derive and thicken to get around this problem.  However, for those interested, there is a way to make a normal cut (for laser/cnc) directly in the sheet metal part in many cases.  It involves using a sketch to split a face and then using the resulting profile for a thicker/cut feature.  I'm always interested in any other methods out there for obtaining normal cuts in complex sheet metal (for a clean dxf export).  By the way, Autodesk, do you actually not have any plans of ever adding functionality in this area?

AutoCAD Inventor :: Sheet Metal - Cut Across Bend

Dec 20, 2012

I have a sheet metal door with a little bracket that gets welded to the inside lip through a cut-out in the face of the door. (see assembly)

I can't get the cut-out to line up flush with the inside lip of the door, as that is where the brackets gets welded to. the current aseembly is set-up the way I want, but I can't get a flat pattern on the door, becasue of the cut going across the bend.

I have checked off the "cut across bend" in the cut dialogue box, but this leaves a small (~1/32) lip in the cut-out and runs interference in the placement of the bracket.
