AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Corridor At Gore Area With Tunnel Cross Section
Jan 28, 2013
At entry / exit ramp connection,
Since frequencies of corridors are perpendicular to their respective alignments, there is gap developed in between two corridors on ramp as shown in snaps.
This is common problem in roads & highways, I know how fix the same.
But if my cross section is a Tunnel? (Cross Section- Elliptical Roof)
how to have exisitng cross slopes display on a bank of corridor cross sections...I see lots of posts on this but I am having trouble finding the answer. The link below from Add a section view grade label only adds "A" slope label.....I want all of them in all of my sections.
I have added intermediate sample lines in my corridor. These sections appear in the section editor and I can make changes to the data. The changes show correctly in the section editor and section view, however, when I plot the cross sections some of these added stations do not show the overrides. They are showing the original assembly group parameters. How do I get all the cross sections to reflect the edited data from the section editor?
I've got a corridor where the section editor does not show a section that the corridor has created. My frequency is set to 25' with high/low points along curves. At station 22+75, in the model space the corridor shows a section being created (image #2). However, I cannot edit or even see that section in the section editor (image #1). The first screen shot shows the list of stations for the corridor in the editor while the second screenshot shows the model space at the problem station. This is in the middle of a region, so there shouldn't be any issues with other assemblies or regions.
In the section editor, Sta 22+74.91 is listed, skips 22+75, then lists 23+00. I am needing to manually adjust the cross slopes of my lanes. If I view the surface there is a weird dip because at station 22+75 the default slope of my lane is -2%. I cannot edit station 22+75, so I cannot adjust the cross slope of the lanes.
What is causing the section editor to not even recognize a section? How can I edit the cross slope at station 22+75 if the editor doesn't even display that section?

I have a corridor with 2 intersections. It is more or less like a main road with an off-ramp and an on-ramp, both on the same side, with a big triangle shape island in between them. It involves an existing road widening and a connection with another existing road. Since it is a real scenario, the intersections aren't perfect 90 degrees nor the offsets are constant.
Create Western intersection and change offset and curb return targets to design aligments.Create Eastern intersection and change offset and curb return targets to design alignments.Model the corridor as per design requirements.Due to design constraints, I ended up removing both intersections. I didn't delete all the offset and curb return alignments although they're not targeted on any region. Deleting this alignments seems to make C3D crash. the actual intersection definition hasn't been removed, as I read on other threads. I kept on getting a couple of error messages on Panorama Event Viewer every time I rebuild the corridor.
So, the problem comes when I try to output the cross sections from this nice looking corridor. They all look fine until they reach the intersection area. From the intersection onwards, the corridor is not displayed on any cross section. Even way passed the western intersection.
Why the corridor doesn't display on the cross sections passed the deleted intersections?I have a bad feeling that removing the intersection wasn't a good idea in the first place but it's too late now.
Section editor shows the Existing Ground and the Assembly correctly. But "Create Multiple Views" Shows a blank Grid from -10 to 0..... Corridor rebuilt...
I have a corridor with two baselines, one on the south side of the road, and one on the north side. The south baseline appears correctly in the section view. It is an asphalt bike trail with a ditch to the left side. The north baseline was not appearing at all. The assembly was just a ditch with nothing else. I changed the north baseline to use the same assembly as the south to troubleshoot. The pavement comes in, but the ditch still does not appear.
I can see the ditch feature lines on my corridor (see attached), but they are not appearing in the section view.
I have an existing surface. I created an alignment and have managed to make "multiple cross" section out of the surface without making corridor and its fine. Now, the problem is I cannot finding any option to make report out of these sections. I need those report very soon..I have even attached th dwg file which contains all the data.
We have an urban divided highway resurface and widen project. We have an eastboiund and westbound corridor we would like to get to display on our single set of cross sections
We originally set up our corridor to do the widening and ditches portion and then went on to do the work to set up the model to do the resurfacing. When we did the sections for the ditches only they displayed fine. Now that we have the resurfacing incorporated into it the ditches no longer display.
we have reviewed the targets of our assemblies, we have reconstructed the cross sections, to no avai. The software is not doing us any good right now. Need to get smarter
if i have one feature line i want to project to all sections in a sample line group it would seem you should be able to pick the one line and assign in a label style and you would be done quick and easy. instead if you pick the multiple projection option you get this percentage distance box and it tend to grab stuff you don't want.
I'm just starting to get involved with using SSA, and I'm wondering if it's possible to import sample lines/alignments (a la Hec-Ras). I see that there's an irregular channel editor, but no import options that I can see. I'll end up with about a dozen or so x-sections.
I have a band label set up for my cross sections that will show existing grade and finish grade elevations at the 0' offset mark of each section.
However, the band does not show when I create my sections. The only way I can seem to get it to show is by right clicking a section, section view properties, bands tab, click 'import band set' at bottom of window, and select they style i want to use. But I have to do this for each section individually. That is a problem as I have over 200 sections for one piece of this project.
I'm currently working on a cross section plan and was wondering if there was any way I can change the direction of the cross section view. I'm currently just using 2 sample lines, so just 2 views are needed. My problem is that it seems like one cross section...the view is facing upstream and the other sample line, the cross section view is facing downstream.
Is this normal? How come both cross sections don't face the same direction? So with one x section it's in a East-West direction but the other is a West to East direction.

I am working with cross sections for the first time and have run into a few things I can't seem to figure out. In attachment XSEC CIVIL 3D.pdf you will see how the cross sections currently look in my drawing.
My questions:
1. I cant seem to edit the elevation labels on the right side of the section to match the left side. Where/how can I do this? 2. What is the red line? In some sections it exactly follows the assembly section, but in a few (like this one) it doesn't quite follow. Does this line show where manual editing was done? 3. Where the pavement ends, there is a vertical line which I only want to show on the two pavement layers, it shows all the way thru the assembly. This also happens at the centerline of the assembly and at the edge of shoulder. I figured out how to turn them all off, but I want the edge of pavement vertical lines there. 4. Although the assembly section comes in on color 161 which should plot black for my pen setting, it plots true color. I haven't been able to figure out how to switch this. The second attachment shows a section from a LDD project a few years back which is how I would like this section to plot.
how label only the top of my road surface in section view? The road slopes -2% towards a ditch but my my code set labels both the top of road(-2%) and what I assume is the bottom of the road surface (2%) which I don't want to show.
Is it also possible to label my side slopes as 4:1 instead of 25%?
create a label style for cross sections that will label the travel way in the run:rise format and will label fore and back slopes in a percent format. I can figure out how to make them all one or the other, but am having trouble getting them to reflect correctly based on where they are attached.I am having trouble coming up with the actual expression or you can do it thru code set styles, but regardless of settings that I change nothing on the cross section view changes.
I have been asked to place volumes on cross sections with a certain look, that I am not sure if it is possible. For know I am just going to use text, but I would like to come up with a solution for our template and work flow. Below is an attached copy of a markup I have received asking me to show this information on the cross section similar to how he has written it. At this point I only know how to create the tables of to the side. Is it possible to dynamically show this information quickly like shown below? I have a feeling the engineers I work with will not be happy at all with a table off to the side. I am currently using 2013

Using 2011 - Having trouble with cross section labeling. I have multiple label markers such as ROW, and multiple EASEMENT types. I've created corridors for each label type - each will show up if their corridor has a corridor section line at the same station as the base corridor, but at odd ball stations (like driveway openings) the labels do not show up, I'm thinking its because I don't have these corridor section lines in each corridor. Is there an easier work around rather than manually adding the section lines in each corridor?
How can the cross sections be setup to label the existing and proposed grade at the centerline of a cross section, see attached. Could do this in LD but have not been able to figure it out in Civil 3D

I am creating a data band for Finished Ground. I have created a Top surface from my corridor and have sampled that as well as my original ground. I am trying to add data bands to an existing cross section view. When adding data bands for the cross section, I first go to the Section View Properties, add the data band, in this case, "FG Elevations", In the "Section1" column, I pick the Corridor surface that was sampled.
The data band does not display data. I know the data band works, because I picked the original ground as the "Section1" and it gave me the elevation.
I have noticed that under the "Sections" tab of the Section View Properties, and in the "Type" column, the original ground surface has a different symbol than the corridor surface. I have also noticed that if I have only the "Draw" boxes for the sampled corridor surfaces in the section view checked, nothing is drawn the section view. The corridor surfaces seem like they are not really there. Am I not able to retrieve data band data from a corridor surface?? If this is the case how do I go about making the corridor top surface something I can get data from?
